Posted: 08 Dec 2015 10:00 PM PST There are two ways a movie called Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse could go. The first is to make it a cutesy, family-friendly comedy about cub scouts who have to save the world. The second is to fully go for the R rating and embrace the premise of teenagers trained in wilderness survival crafting weapons to try and survive a zombie outbreak. The second path is exactly the one taken by Scouts Guide director Christopher Landon. If you need proof of that, look no further than this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from today's digital release of the movie. It's all about the creation of movie's strip club sequence, a scene we can safely say would not exist in the hypothetical kiddie version of this movie. This particular clip is totally safe for work as it just... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

What George Lucas Thinks of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Posted: 08 Dec 2015 07:30 PM PST Ever since he stepped away from the Star Wars franchise, handing over the reigns to Disney, Kathleen Kennedy and J.J. Abrams, fans still have an immense desire to know what George Lucas thinks of the new direction the franchise is taking. We've heard him compare his Star Wars departure to a "divorce," and how it'll be like hanging out with his ex wife at the Force Awakens premiere (thank god for that prenup!), but now that he's actually seen the year's most anticipated film, well... what does he really think? He likes it. There. Okay? He likes it! That's according to Kathleen Kennedy, who was asked what his response was. But when Lucas himself was asked, his answer is actually the greatest possible scenario for fans. "I think the fans are... This Freaky 'Indigenous' Clip Won't Take Long to Scare You (Exclusive) Posted: 08 Dec 2015 06:00 PM PST There are many golden rules in horror movies, and there are many great, gory things that happen when they're broken. Don't tell someone you'll be right back. Don't go off somewhere to have sex if there is a killer on the loose. If you're in a jungle, do not go off the beaten path. We're going to go out on a limb that one or more of these rules gets broken in the new horror movie Indigenous, which hits VOD today. The quick pitch for Indigenous is that a group of friends go to party it up in Panama. They learn of a waterfall that is to die for, but it's hidden deep in the jungle and that any tourists who try to find it never come back. Naturally, despite some locals telling them they're making a huge mistake, the gang decides "Hey, let's go... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Why More 'Hunger Games' Movies Might Be On the Way Posted: 08 Dec 2015 04:30 PM PST Fans who thought The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 might be one of the last franchise finales we see on the big screen in this new era of ever-evolving cinematic universes probably won't be surprised by the news that the Hunger Games series ain't done yet. According to Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns [via THR], more Hunger Games movies are on the way... and they'll likely be prequels. Recently we heard that Disney has every intention of making Star Wars movies every year until audiences stop going, and the same can probably be said for the Marvel superhero movies. Well, add Hunger Games to that growing list, as Burns said the franchise will "live on and on." While we're probably done with Katniss's story, it appears the studio... 'The Shining' and 'Ferris Bueller' Are Among the Classic Movies You Can See In Theaters in 2016 Posted: 08 Dec 2015 03:00 PM PST As the end of 2015 approaches, it's time to make plans for what you want to see in the new year. But don't just look at the wide release calendar and the list of competition titles about to debut at Sundance. Make room for some oldies in 2016, as Fathom Events has released its schedule of "TCM Big Screen Classics" through next December. It used to be that you had to be in New York City or Los Angeles to appreciate great cinema of the past in a theater. Now, thanks to digital projection and archives, those films can be easily beamed into just about any multiplex in the country. Fathom has been doing it for some time, but this is their biggest collaboration with the cable channel, delivering 12 genuine classics over 12 months. Maybe you still... 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Sex Change: This Character Wasn't Always a Woman Posted: 08 Dec 2015 01:30 PM PST Diversity is the key to the casting in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Asked about the issue of including Asian characters in the Star Wars universe at Comic-Con this past summer, for example, Abrams noted that he did cast Asian actors in the upcoming movie and added: "I think it's important people see themselves represented in film. … I think it's not a small thing." Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president, has also stated that "really strong women" would be featured in the Star Wars universe, and everything we've seen so far indicates that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will revolve around the heroic Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega), with Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) making a return appearance in a slightly different... He added that he's had a story in mind for years, but wanted to give the assassin, played by Uma Thurman, time to spend raising her daughter: “I put the character of Beatrix Kiddo through a lot, and so I wanted her to have this much time for peace." [What the Flick?! via EW.com] The Little Mermaid: As we learned last month, Chloë Grace Moretz will star in a new version of The Little Mermaid for Universal Pictures, with Richard Curtis (Love, Actually) set to write a new script.
