See Who Is Fighting Whom In 'Captain America: Civil War' Concept Art Posted: 18 Dec 2015 09:00 PM PST Less than five months from now, the biggest movie in theaters will be Captain America: Civil War. We already know the sequel will be packed full of Avengers characters and that they'll be divided on a matter of superhero registration. And the title Avenger leads one side in favor of the registration act, while Iron Man heads up the opposition. Now, thanks to the below concept art (via Collider), we get to see who Captain America and Iron Man's respective allies are and how those groups of heroes will be paired off in action. Captain America vs. Iron Man We knew the two big guns would be facing off against each other since the start. Now we just need to know who wins. The Winter Soldier vs. Black Panther Bucky, now a good guy after being the villain in the... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Remember When... 'The Color Purple' Gave Us Our First Glimpse of 'Adult' Spielberg? Posted: 18 Dec 2015 07:30 PM PST Today's movie fans know Steven Spielberg as much for his serious films as for his summer blockbusters. Schindler's List came out 22 years ago; anyone younger than that has never lived in a world where Spielberg wasn't respected as a mature, grown-up filmmaker. But it was 30 years ago this week that the man behind Jaws, E.T., and Raiders of the Lost Ark made his first bid for a seat at the adults' table with The Color Purple. Adapted from Alice Walker's popular novel about black women in Georgia in the early 20th century, it bore little resemblance to anything Spielberg had made before. Spielberg, a white Jewish man from Ohio, probably wasn't anyone's first thought for who should direct this story, either. Spielberg said he wanted to make... 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Cameo List Includes Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Warwick Davis and More Posted: 18 Dec 2015 04:00 PM PST Star Wars is the perfect movie franchise in which to hide celebrity cameos. Its intergalactic world is filled with aliens and droids and people wearing masks, making it very easy to hide someone in plain sight. Naturally J.J. Abrams used this to sneak quite a few people in to The Force Awakens. So here's a list of the cameos we know about so far. Note: some of these cameos may be considered spoilers. Read at your own risk. Daniel Craig A rumor slipped out months ago that Daniel Craig had a cameo in The Force Awakens, but when asked about it the James Bond actor got rather defensive, questioning why an actor like himself would bother being an extra in someone else's movie. Turns out he's just, well, a good actor. He is totally in the movie, and in... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Hey, Horror Movies Really Are Bloodcurdling Posted: 18 Dec 2015 01:30 PM PST "Boo!" Anyone can scare an unsuspecting person with a single word spoken loudly, but that's quite a bit different than creating a sustained, scary atmosphere in a feature-length motion picture that keeps viewers on edge for the entire running time. A good horror movie leaves a lasting impression; we might remember that Psycho made us scared of showers, or that Jaws made us think it wasn't safe to go in the water, or that A Nightmare on Elm Street made us afraid to go to sleep. We might talk about fright flicks that made our stomach clench or made us gasp or gave us goose bumps. But can it be said that horror movies are literally bloodcurdling? Science now says 'yes.' According to a new study by doctors and academics at a university in the... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 18 Dec 2015 12:00 PM PST Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice: A new image of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shows the corporate villain looking quite cool in a pair of sunglasses. We've seen the character in a variety of outfits over the past few months, which suggests that he's more of a clotheshorse than in past versions. We'll find out when the movie opens in theaters on March 25. [Wired] Alien: Covenant: Katherine Waterston, who gave a notable performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice (above), will star in Alien: Covenant. Ridley Scott will direct the next installment in the Alien series, which takes place after the events in 2012's Prometheus; Michael Fassbender is reprising his role as a mysterious...
