This Week In Star Wars: Han Solo Casting, George Lucas Opens Up, New Pictures and More Posted: 04 Dec 2015 09:15 PM PST News Han Solo Lurks Among Us - There wasn't a whole lot by way of official Star Wars movie news this week, but THR did some poking around the untitled young Han Solo spin-off movie and discovered that Disney and Lucasfilm have put out one of the widest searches ever for the role. They've reportedly seen at least 2,500 actors so far and while some may want a total unknown to take on the role, there are some established names in the list. According to them, Dave Franco, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller, Nick Robinson and Rami Malek have all tried out for the role. We don't know if any of them will progress to the next stage, which will eventually be meeting with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, but they've got plenty of time to find the right person. Comics on Film: Getting to Know Doomsday, Superman's Deadliest Enemy Posted: 04 Dec 2015 08:30 PM PST Although today a lot of people dismiss the 1990's as a watershed era for comics, there are a select few stories that rise above the decade's somewhat dubious reputation, and stand as definite highlights and turning points of some characters' entire histories. Perhaps no greater example of this is an arc that began in 1992, and would cause shock and sadness to fans all over the world. That story was "The Death of Superman," which culminated in one of the most powerful beings in all of fiction literally beaten to death by an enemy who had only just appeared in the pages of DC Comics, but managed to make an immediate splash in a way many before or since have never managed. He is a behemoth that has continued to plague the Man of Steel, and many other... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Watch: Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista's Hilarious Screen Test for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Posted: 04 Dec 2015 07:15 PM PST To celebrate the release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two boxset, Disney is sharing a bunch of fun behind-the-scenes extras that are included along with all their phase two Marvel films (see more info below). One of those extras is this really great screen test for Guardians of the Galaxy featuring Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista (in early Drax concept makeup) working out their on-camera chemistry. This was before Pratt bulked up for the role -- and the final version of this scene in the film features a lot more energy from both guys -- but it's fun watching the two of them sort of discover their characters long before cameras were officially rolling. Check it out [via Yahoo]. Watch Chris Pratt Audition With Dave Bautista for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Red Band 'The Nice Guys' Trailer Has Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as The World's Worst Detectives Posted: 04 Dec 2015 06:00 PM PST Fact: Nobody does the buddy-cop comedy better than Shane Black. Argue it all you want, but the evidence is stacked against you. After all, we're talking about the guy who wrote Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Heck, he even managed to turn a big chunk of Iron Man 3 into a movie where Tony Stark does detective work with the help of a kid sidekick. Shane Black is simply the best. If that's not enough evidence for you, though, we submit the trailer for his new movie, The Nice Guys, which he directed and co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi. Set in the 1970s, it stars Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as two private eyes investigating the death of a porn star. But since this is a Shane Black movie, a single death can never be... The Last Sci-Fi Blog: Okay, It's Time to Make a 'Fallout' Movie Posted: 04 Dec 2015 04:30 PM PST Like so many people all over the world, I've spent the past few weeks immersed in the world of Fallout 4, the latest entry in the beloved video game series that sends players off an various adventures through an irradiated post-apocalypse. I'm a latecomer to the series -- I first started playing with Fallout 3, when Bethesda Game Studios took over the series, but I would need a couple dozen hands to count the number of hours I've thrown into these things. You don't just sit down and play a Fallout game. You set aside an evening and plan to play for four hours, only to look at the clock and realize you've been playing for eight. No video game series has absorbed me, ruined my social life, and threatened my marriage quite like this one. During one of Fallout... The Geek Beat: 5 Big Questions We Have After Watching the 'Batman v Superman' Trailer Posted: 04 Dec 2015 03:00 PM PST The latest trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released this week, and it seems safe to say that it offered up quite a bit more of the 2016 film than anyone was expecting to see at this point. Not only did the new trailer offer up some context for the Man of Steel's beef with the Dark Knight – including an extended scene from their first in-person meeting out of costume – but it also revealed the villain they'll need to overcome their differences to defeat (with some help from Wonder Woman, apparently). For better or worse (depending on your opinion of spoilers), there's a lot we know about Batman v Superman now that we didn't know a little while ago – but that doesn't mean the trailer answered all of our questions about the...
