One Star Wars fan sees it happen more often now that he's built a custom drone of the droid (via Mashable): Trilogy Recap of the Day: Whether or not you need to recap before finally seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, here's the original trilogy retold in 8-bit video game graphics and sound effects: Movie Remake of the Day: And if you need another retelling, here's a video that redoes Star Wars using clips from other movies, some that influenced George Lucas and some that were influenced by him (via Devour): Cosplay of the Day: Almost everyone loves Rey, so we can look forward... Posted: 22 Dec 2015 09:00 PM PST It's funny to think that fans spent so much time in 2015 analyzing every frame of the trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens for deeper meaning and now the movie is out and everyone can watch it and go, "Oh, that's what that meant." However, there is something from the trailers that fans may still be puzzling over. It's from the second teaser, which hit online way back in April, that featured a small arm handing Luke's lightsaber to Leia. When that image popped up in the trailer it caused tons of speculation about where Luke had gone and why this lightsaber hadn't been returned to him. It also provided evidence supporting a rumor that the movie would open with the discovery of this lightsaber (lost by Luke at the end of Empire Strikes Back). Jump... James Cameron Confirms 'Avatar 2' Release Date as 'Star Wars' Targets the Box Office Throne Posted: 22 Dec 2015 07:30 PM PST Star Wars: The Force Awakens is breaking box office records left and right, but it's still only been out for a few days. It's not even in the top 100 for all-time yet, at least not for worldwide grosses. Give it time, however, and the movie will be seriously chasing James Cameron's tail. Cameron, of course, made both of the top two highest-grossing movies ever, Titanic and Avatar -- that's domestic and global. And unlike the new Star Wars episode, neither of them is a sequel. If The Force Awakens does manage to take over the top spot from Avatar, then Cameron will have a shot soon enough to reclaim the throne for himself and the property. With his own advantaged sequel. According to the Montreal Gazette, the director confirmed... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
What's Happening With 'Bourne 5'? Matt Damon Updates Posted: 22 Dec 2015 06:00 PM PST We got our first look at a buff Matt Damon in the fifth installment of the Bourne spy series back in September, shortly before his sci-fi thriller The Martian landed in theaters to great popular success. To date, The Martian has earned more than $600 million at the box office worldwide and is now under consideration for year-end awards. Taking a break from filming the latest Bourne, Damon talked with Variety about his current and past projects. Here are a few highlights. On The Martian: "When I first met Ridley [Scott] about this, he said he always wanted to do Robinson Crusoe,” and he felt like this was his chance." The actor continued: "As we got into it we realized the key distinction is that in Robinson Crusoe -- or in Cast Away, for that... Watch: 'Dazed and Confused' Meets the '80s in First Trailer for 'Everybody Wants Some' Posted: 22 Dec 2015 04:30 PM PST It's being billed as a spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused, and the first trailer for Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some definitely feels like it belongs in the same universe as its classic predecessor. While it doesn't appear as if the movies share any of the same characters, they definitely share that big 'ol party vibe and the kind of free spirit that's defined many of Linklater's movies throughout his career. Have a look. What Dazed and Confused did for high school kids in the '70s, Everybody Wants Some looks to do for college kids in the '80s. Once again we're hangin' with a group of party hungry up-and-comers (who kinda look like their Dazed counterparts in ways), only this time it's the beginning of college instead... This 'Force Awakens' Scene Is a Direct Continuation of a Scene from 'A New Hope' Posted: 22 Dec 2015 01:30 PM PST There are so many beats in Star Wars: The Force Awakens that feel like direct nods to the original trilogy, most notably the very first Star Wars movie, A New Hope. From our hero's journey to the villain's true identity and everything in between, The Force Awakens feels more like a soft reboot at times than it does a fresh story we haven't seen before. In fact, there are some things we've definitely seen before, and we're not just talking about Han Solo, Chewbacca and the rest of those classic characters. In a new behind-the-scenes video, Adam Savage takes us to Tippett Studio to watch them piece together a stop-motion animated sequence that functions as a neat little cameo for fans in The Force Awakens. The scene in question comes when we're on the... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
