Here's Where Your Favorite New 'Star Wars' Characters Got Their Names Posted: 21 Dec 2015 09:30 PM PST Star Wars has given us a number of iconic characters over the years, and most of them are paired with an equally memorable name. With some, you don't even have to say the whole thing for anyone to know who you're talking about. Obviously that's true of Artoo and Jabba but even the real-world names Luke and Leia are most synonymous with the twins from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Now we have more wonderful characters with great names thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and some of them have very cool and interesting origin stories. We'll probably hear more about these names as we learn more about the characters, as the series continues. See How 'Jurassic World' Congratulated 'Star Wars' on Crushing Its Box Office Record Posted: 21 Dec 2015 08:00 PM PST Ever since Star Wars moved ahead of Jaws in domestic film rentals, we've been treated to these amusing images whenever a big film breaks a major record. Since there's always a film that held that particular record prior to it being beat, occasionally we'll see studios send amusing mash-up images congratulating the new record holder. Most of the time these images involve Star Wars movies, though we did see it earlier this year when Jurassic World topped The Avengers' opening weekend record at the box office. So it's safe to say that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been anticipated by fans for years. But what about the actors who appear in the new film? John Boyega wasn't even born when the original trilogy hit theaters and has only been acting for a few years, initially making a strong impression in the terrific British creature feature Attack the Block in 2011. Following its massive record-breaking haul over the weekend, it's safe to say that many people still have Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the brain. Disney and J.J. Abrams did a great job preserving the film's mysteries and surprising reveals, but now that it's in theaters we're hearing about the little things most everyone missed. Like Obi-Wan Kenobi's cameo. Yes, Obi-Wan (both the older and younger versions) is in the movie, albeit briefly and in voice only. There's also a cameo from Yoda, as well as the Empire Strikes Back version of Luke Skywalker. Posted: 21 Dec 2015 12:00 PM PST John Wick 2: Sixteen years ago, Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne teamed up for The Matrix, as well as two sequels and now they've been reunited for another sequel, John Wick 2. Reeves, who stars as a retired assassin, shared a photo from the set; we don't yet have confirmation of what character Fishburne is playing. [Twitter via Collider] Section 6: Dan Mazeau, whose credits include Wrath of the Titans (above), has been hired to write a new draft of a screenplay for Section 6, a spy thriller that will be directed by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
