Here Are the 2015 WGA Awards TV Nominations Posted: The Writers Guild of America announced some of its nominees for its 2015 awards on Thursday, including television, new media, and radio, and among the TV nominees are series both new and old, and all beloved. In the comedy series category, freshman Netflix show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" scored a nomination for best series, as well as an overall best new series nod. "The Last Man on Earth" also landed in that latter category, and was singled out for its pilot episode writing, too. On the drama side of the equation, lauded "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" also got best series and best new series nominations, in addition to a an episode writing nod. Newly-minted Emmy winner "Game of Thrones" also scored a best drama citation, as well as an episodic writing nomination. The full list of nominees released this week are below. Jon Snow Stars in First 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Teaser Posted: Like the first promo poster for the upcoming sixth season of "Game of Thrones," the first teaser of the new season is extremely Jon Snow-centric, stirring up hope in fans that the dearly-departed protagonist is due for a resurrection after his untimely end in season five. The brief clip features narration from Three-Eyed Raven (new cast member Max Von Sydow), who declares, "The past is already written. The ink is already dry," over imagery of Snow, who we see die all over again, his dead-eyed gaze staring up at us from a pool of his own blood. But as has been widely hinted at by various members of the cast and crew (not to mention that poster), Jon Snow may not be definitively dead yet, a notion that's confirmed by his half-brother, Bran Stark, in another bit of narration at the teaser's end. "They have no idea what's going to happen," Bran says ominously, easily applying that same logic to fans of the show. Indeed. And we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out. Season six of "Game of Thrones" is due to debut on HBO sometime in April 2016. %Slideshow-268310% This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Sisters' Is Basically 'Star Wars,' According to Amy and Tina Posted: December 18, the day film fans have been waiting for, is almost upon us, and you know what that means: The release of "Sisters"! Oh, you thought we were talking about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"? Well, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are here to explain that those two films are basically the same, and in case you didn't know, you can totally see both movies on opening weekend instead of choosing between them. In a new featurette, the "Sisters" cast recounts the flick's long, revered history, which sounds eerily similar to that of the "Star Wars" saga. There's a CGI breakdown of Ike Barinholtz's awkward run-in with a music box, Maya Rudolph draped in some motion-capture dots (which look suspiciously like a strand of Christmas lights), and references to the flick's lauded director, J.J.-son (a.k.a. "Pitch Perfect" helmer Jason Moore. What, were you expecting a different J.J.?). And Amy and Tina themselves describe the film's importance using fake British accents, adding an air of regalness to the proceedings (and, okay, to cover up their drunkenness). "It lit-rally could not be more exciting," Fey declares in an uppercrust voice. "This film means so much to so many people," Poehler adds in a similar deadpan drawl. We couldn't agree more. "Sisters" opens on December 18, and yes, that's the same day as "Star Wars." But as the hashtag says: #youcanseethemboth. We're planning on it. Woody's Back! Watch Tom Hanks Head to Work on 'Toy Story 4' Posted: "Toy Story 4" isn't coming out until 2018, but it can't happen without Tom Hanks voicing Woody, so it's a good thing he's ready to go to infinity and beyond all over again. Back on November 24, "Hanx" tweeted that it was his final day shooting the movie "Sully" about pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. Now he's working on "Toy Story 4," as he updated fans on December 2, tweeting out a video showing his progress on the way to the studio:
It'd be kind of awesome if the plot to "Toy Story 4" followed Woody, Buzz, and friends in the backseat of Tom's car as he drove to the studio. But that might be too meta. It has been revealed that the fourth "Toy Story" movie will feature Woody's love story with Bo Peep. "I love Bo Peep," director John Lasseter told the crowd at Disney's D23 Expo in August. "And we never got to know her backstory. She wasn't in Toy Story 3 at all, so it really set us up nicely for her to come back. It's a very special story." "Toy Story 4" currently has a release date of June 15th, 2018. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. %Slideshow-333296% This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Who'll Win 'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 22, the Final Season? (Nyle, Right?) Posted: You wanna be on top ... for the last time? Better tune in to "America's Next Top Model" tomorrow (Friday, December 4) at 9 p.m. on The CW for the Cycle 22 Finale Part 2. This is not just the final episode of the season/cycle, it's the final one for the series. After a dozen years and 22 cycles, Tyra Banks's babies are booching and tooching for the last time. So who wins: Lacey Rogers, 18, of Arkansas; Mamé Adjei, 23, of Maryland; Mikey Heverly, 26, of Florida; or Nyle DiMarco, 25, of The previous episode left fans on the cliffhanger of Tyra poised to cut one guy and one girl from the final four, leaving just two finalists competing in the end. Nye and Lacey had gotten close all season, and Mame and Mikey had started flirting, but there's no guarantee that that's how the twosomes break down on the finale. But a Nyle/Lacey or Nyle/Mame finale would be great. No disrespect to Mikey and his amazing hair, but... Anyway, who are you rooting for to win the whole thing? And will you miss ANTM? In case you want to read it again, here's Tyra Banks's farewell to her series, posted when the news came out that Cycle 22 would be the last: Want more stuff like this? The 30 Best Disney Live-Action Movies Ever Made Posted: %Slideshow-345773% Everyone has seen at least one Disney animated film at least twice. Or eleventy times. They're easy to keep track, as they are the bedrock of the Disney brand. But the Mouse House has also found success in the live-action realm. Under the banners of Touchstone and Hollywood pictures -- and now, Marvel and Lucasfilm -- the studio's vaults are full of memorable films made the ol' fashioned way. In honor of Walt Disney's 114th birthday (December 5), here are the 30 best live-action movies made by his company. Literally fun for the whole family. 'Walking Dead': See Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Perfect Reaction to Negan Casting Posted: "The Walking Dead" is in its own dead zone until Season 6 resumes on February 14, 2016 (yep, Valentine's Day), but the most recent episode teased the eventual arrival of Negan. Negan is the next major villain, and not only is he an adversary for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), he is an f-bomb dropping charmer that "Walking Dead" comic book readers can't wait to see in the flesh.
F--k yeah, man! (Question: Will AMC let him say f--k as often as Negan does?) This is a juicy character, but JDM doesn't want to play him as a typical villain. As the "Grey's Anatomy" alum and current "The Good Wife" star put it, "I've become accustomed to playing the good guy, maybe a rough exterior, but a heart of gold in there somewhere, so I think the challenge for me in this role is going to be, is there any heart in Negan? And for me I look at that as a challenge as an actor, and that's the kind of thing that I embrace and really look forward to. So, I am super excited about it. It's gonna be cool. I hope you all tune in to watch 'cause I promise you it'll be something different than you've seen me do." We can't wait. Watch him in action, talking all about it ... while holding a Starbucks cup? 'Star Wars': 10 Best 'Force Awakens' Gifts You and Your Kids Must Own Posted: %Slideshow-345253% As popular as "Star Wars" is these days, it's a safe bet many children will be begging for all manner of toys from a galaxy far, far away for Christmas this year. 'The Bachelor' 2016: Here's What Happens in Ben Higgins's Season 20 Posted: Are you ready for the most dramatic season of "The Bachelor" ever? How about at least since the one that aired last year? "Bachelor" creator Mike Fleiss tweeted that Ben Higgins's upcoming Season 20 (starting January 4, 2016) is his "favorite season since Jason and Molly." Considering Jason Mesnick didn't even pick Molly Malaney and that was the most controversial season of its time, that may be a sign for this round too.

Steven Spielberg: Only Harrison Ford Should EVER Play Indiana Jones Posted: Yes, Harrison Ford -- like Beyoncé -- is irreplaceable. Director Steven Spielberg just talked to Screen Daily about a fifth Indiana Jones film and he emphasized that, despite some rumors, he has no plans to cast a new Indy. He also made it clear that, to him, no one else should EVER play Indy. (Except maybe River Phoenix as young Indy in Spielberg's own "The Last Crusade." Not sure about Sean Patrick Flanery and company in "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles." You may want to take this personally, guys.) As Spielberg told Screen, "I don't think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don't think that's ever going to happen. It's certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that's Harrison Ford." BOOM. The mic has been dropped and all hopefuls can scurry away -- and maybe join the lineup for potential young Han Solos. Harrison Ford has said for a while that he would return for "Indiana Jones 5," if a script comes along, so there's no need to recast. But it's good to hear Spielberg give his thoughts on the action hero's distant future; 'cause you know someone out there will want to reboot Indy someday, and here's The Boss saying all non-Ford versions are not legit. Ryan Gosling Spits on a Baby During 'Titanic' Reenactment in 'SNL' Promo Posted: Hey girl, you do not want to miss Ryan Gosling in these perfect "Saturday Night Live" promos. Seriously, it's like they're Photoshopped. Gosling seems like an obvious fit for "SNL," but he's actually hosting for the very first time this Saturday, December 5. If the actual show is as good as even one of the promos with Gosling and SNL-er Aidy Bryant, then we're in for a hot night. Here are Ryan and Aidy in a series of previews for the Dec. 5 show, which features musical guest Leon Bridges: As you can see, they went the obvious route by having Aidy crush on Ry-guy, but then took things to a less expected level with the pec wailing and choosing to reenact THAT particular scene from "Titanic." Best part: "Oh my god. I just spit on a baby." [RUNS] If you want to know what else Gosling has been doing with his time, People recently shared an exclusive first photo from his upcoming movie "The Nice Guys" with Russell Crowe, so you can check out their retro fabulous looks. Best of Late Night TV: Carrie Underwood's Carpool Karaoke, Ben Affleck Premieres New Trailer Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. Over on "The Late Late Show," James Corden continued his instant-classic "Carpool Karaoke" series -- this time with country queen Carrie Underwood -- and at one point James let Jesus take the wheel, which is probably not safe to try at home. At the start of the eight-minute video, James asked about the concept of ice hockey, which is pretty foreign to him, but that's what Carrie's husband Mike Fisher does for a living. James asked Carrie if she ever worried about Mike fighting with other players. Carrie: "Have you seen his latest fight? ... He knocked a guy's teeth out. It was hot." Nice! Maybe he can take on Conor McGregor next. Carrie and James also went shopping for country boots, POWERED through "Before He Cheats" and Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," and timed how long they could hold a note (which Carrie compared to the "Dumb and Dumber" most annoying sound in the world). It's awesome: Ben Affleck was not around to save Jimmy Kimmel from Matt Damon on Tuesday night's show, but maybe that's because Jimmy failed to flash the Bat signal. Once Guillermo flashed it Wednesday night, Ben, aka "Batman," showed up on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Turns out, he was just sitting in the audience all night, he didn't even see the Bat signal. No matter. Like Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" cast last week, Ben introduced DC's new "Batman v Superman" trailer. Jimmy will only call Ben "Batman" or "Bruce Wayne" from now on, but that has to be an upgrade from Bennifer so ... no complaints. Also, don't miss the ass grab at the end of the video, after the trailer. A very sparkly Conor McGregor talked to Jimmy Kimmel about how much he loves beating people up for money, and previewed his upcoming opponent, Jose Aldo. The gorgeous Liv Tyler and her sweet, breathy voice were also on JKL, previewing "The Leftovers" Season 2 finale this Sunday (watch it!), talking about the birth of her son, and revealing that her dad Steven Tyler cut her umbilical cord. Conan O'Brien asked Ken Jeong if he's ever tempted to bring Mr. Chow to his new show "Dr. Ken." Conan wants Mr. Chow to be on "Game of Thrones" or "Empire" to say "Toodaloo, motherf--ker" to everyone. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" star Adam Driver was on "The Tonight Show" and helpfully pointed out his character, Kylo Ren, in various photos. In one pic, he said he and the Stormtroopers were just on their way to the store, and that was his car in the background. Last but not least, here's Brett Favre doing a "Tonight Show Throwdown": Want more stuff like this? New 'Batman v Superman' Trailer Reveals Doomsday, Lots of (Bad) Lex Luthor Posted: So... this just happened. The new trailer for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is here and, well, it's a trailer. Lots of punching and Bruce Wayne sounding like Bruce Springsteen ensue. Also, the rumor that fan-favorite villain Doomsday will appear in the Warner Bros. epic is finally confirmed. And it looks like, based on this trailer, he is the thing that gets Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) to stop fighting each other and start kick-punching the latest threat to their world. Also also? Jesse Eisenberg as So much is crammed into this unevenly edited trailer that one walks away expecting the movie to have a similar feel -- if not also a five-hour running time. Nice to see Wonder Woman get some love, though, albeit too brief. What do you guys think? Do you like the trailer's less dour tone when compared to previous ones? Will this movie be the comic book film that fans both need and deserve? We'll find out when "BvS" hits theaters March 25, 2016. Watch the trailer below: This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
