Celebrate Stephen King's Birthday with These Great Movie Moments

Posted: 21 Sep 2015 10:00 PM PDT

We'd like to wish Stephen King a very happy birthday today by highlighting some of his most memorable movie moments. The now 68-year-old author has inspired many great and some not-so-great adaptations and original works, and we look forward to many more.  King's first published novel, Carrie, was also the first of his works to become a movie, which was directed by Brian De Palma. We can probably thank King for giving us one of the most iconic and oft-parodied bits in the history of cinema, seen here:   The three best-reviewed movies based on King's works, according to Rotten Tomatoes, are Rob Reiner's Stand By Me, Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption and Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. He loves the two...

Are the Original 'Star Wars' Theatrical Cuts Finally Coming to Blu-ray?

Posted: 21 Sep 2015 09:00 PM PDT

In the world of Star Wars, there is an ever-elusive treat that fans have always wanted to get their hands on: the original theatrical cuts of the first three films. Are they finally -- officially -- coming to a store near you after all these years? Well, let's figure that out.   So what's the deal with these theatrical cuts anyway? This was before George Lucas tinkered with the movies, adding all kinds of little things (creatures, special effects, Greedo shooting first) that many fans felt took away from the original versions they first fell in love with long ago in a movie theater far, far away. Those cuts eventually became the special-edition versions, and that's all that's been available ever since.   But why are these theatrical cuts so...

Tracy Morgan's First Post-Accident Movie Looks To Be a 'Fist Fight'

Posted: 21 Sep 2015 08:00 PM PDT

Fourteen months ago Tracy Morgan was a passenger in a limo hit by a Walmart tractor-trailer in an incident that would not only put him in a coma for eight days, but sadly claim the life of his friend James McNair. Since then, Morgan has been understandably staying out of the public eye on his road to recovery from several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. But just last night Morgan surprised a theater full of his peers and an audience all over the world as an unannounced presenter at the Emmys (only four people knew he was coming). But that's not the only surprise Morgan had for fans this week. The Wrap broke the news that he's in final negotiations for his first post-crash movie, the comedy Fist Fight. Morgan's exact role hasn't been announced...

This Is the Film Audiences Loved the Most at the Toronto International Film Festival

Posted: 21 Sep 2015 06:30 PM PDT

The 2015 Toronto International Film Festival closed its doors over the weekend, but not before Brie Larson's Room took home honors as the People's Choice. Perhaps the fest's most prestigious award, the People's Choice is voted on by all those attending the fest who fill out a ballot on their way out of the theater. Other films that scored People's Choice awards include the first-person-shoot-'em-up movie Hardcore (for the midnight madness section), as well as the documentary Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom. Watch the trailer for Room below.   Already touted as a major Oscar contender, Room is based on the acclaimed book -- it stars Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay as a mother and son held captive and forced to live in one room for...

New 'The Walk' Trailer Shows Why You Need to See It On The Biggest Screen Possible

Posted: 21 Sep 2015 03:45 PM PDT

Six years ago Man on Wire, telling the true story of a tightrope walker's death-defying (and illegal) crossing between the towers of the World Trade Center in 1974, won the Academy Award for Best Documentary. And now the story of Philippe Petit is being retold in The Walk, and if the new trailer is a good indication, you're going to want to watch it on the biggest screen possible. A dramatized version of an already Oscar-winning documentary may seem a bit redundant, but the most intriguing thing about The Walk is that movie magic master Robert Zemeckis is pulling the strings. This is the man who gave us Back to the Future, Contact, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Beowolf and Flight, just to name a few. He knows how to deliver spectacle in ways other filmmakers can only...
