| Shaw Brothers classic ‘Magic Blade’ to be remade? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 11:00 PM PDT  "The Magic Blade" Theatrical Poster Two years ago, The Weinsteins struck a deal with Hong Kong’s Celestial Pictures to remake two Shaw classics: Come Drink With Me (1966) and Avenging Eagle (1978). Around the same time, Derek Yee (Shinjuku Incident) was set to begin production on his remake of Death Duel (1977). Now, FBA reports that Celestial is partnering with the newly-established Tencent Pictures to produce yet another Shaw Brothers remake: Chor Yuen’s The Magic Blade, a 1976 swordfight-filled martial arts film starring Ti Lung (The Pirate) and Lo Lieh (Bruce’s Deadly Fingers). Considering the aforementioned films have been stuck in development hell, we won’t be surprised if The Magic Blade remake meets the same fate. Whatever the case, we’ll keep you in the loop. |
