'Serial' the Podcast Is Becoming a TV Show Posted: The hit sensation "Serial" podcast is bringing true crime to your television. The writing/producing/directing team of Chris Lord and Phil Miller ("21 Jump Street," "The Lego Movie") have optioned the rights to the podcast with Fox 21 Television Studio. "Serial" - which is an offshoot of "This American Life," and produced by Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder - was the subject of watercooler talk across the country last year. The first season investigated the 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee over the course of 12 episodes. The show received many accolades, including a Peabody Award. Lord and Miller are reportedly big fans. The TV series will follow the making of the podcast as it investigates another case in-depth. The producers will search for a writer to join the team, then shop it to networks and streaming services. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Carly Rae Jepsen Cast in 'Grease: Live' As a Pink Lady Posted: Fox has called Carly Rae Jepsen, definitely. The pop singer has been cast in the network's upcoming "Grease: Live!" as Frenchy, one of the Pink Ladies at Rydell High School. She befriends Sandy (Julianne Hough), the new girl in school and the love interest of greaser gang leader Danny (Aaron Tveit). Joining Jepsen in pink will be "You're the Worst" actress Kether Donohue as Jan. David Del Rio is also on board as T-Bird. They join the already-cast Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie and Keke Palmer as Marty. Fox's live performance of the classic tale - made into a 1971 Broadway musical and the 1978 movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John - follows in the mold of other live shows, like NBC's "Sound of Music" and "Peter Pan." "Grease: LIve!" airs Sunday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. ET, and kicks off with a new version of "Grease (Is the Word)" by Jessie J. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. CBS Orders Reality Show That's Basically Real-Life 'Fugitive' Posted: Think you can disappear, go on the run, without anybody finding you? Then sign up for "Hunted," a new reality competition show ordered by CBS. "Hunted" sounds a lot like a real-life version of the 1993 movie "The Fugitive" (itself based on a 1960s drama series). Contestants will go on the run and try to evade "some of the world's most highly skilled investigators and trackers" on a nation-wide manhunt. The pros will use every method available to them, from state-of-the-art techniques to old-school tactics, in an effort to uncover clues and find their hiding places. The show is adapted from a British series of the same name, which premiered to very good ratings this month. "Hunted" combines the suspense of a crime drama with the thrill of a competition reality series and some very topical social issues," said Glenn Geller, president of CBS Entertainment. Issues like privacy in this digital day and age - it'll be interesting to see if anyone can truly disappear. The temptation to post an Instagram might be just too tempting. Want more stuff like this? Lena Dunham Planning to End 'Girls' After Season 6 Posted: Are the "Girls" finally growing up? In a radio interview, "Girls" creator, Lena Dunham, admitted that she was likely to end the HBO series after six seasons. Season 5 is slated to premiere in January. "Never say never, but that is the way that we're thinking about it right now and we're starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women," she said on "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show" (h/t Screencrush). "I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I'm going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world!" Perhaps Hannah Horvath really is maturing. At the end of season 4, she turned down a chance to get back together with on-again/off-again ex Adam (Adam Driver). In a time jump, she was seen in a happy, seemingly stable relationship with teacher Fran (Jake Lacy). All that's left is to make Marnie (Allison Williams) a normal human being - no, that's too much. Maybe HBO can convince Dunham to tack on a couple extra seasons, like they did with "Game of Thrones." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Here's How 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Was Originally Going to End Posted: Everyone pays attention to the end of Marvel movies. Even Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) was just saying she's curious to see how "Captain America: Civil War" ends -- and she's in the movie. Marvel endings set the stage for what's to come, and the most recent film -- "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" -- did just that by showing the new Avengers team: Cap and Black Widow preparing to train newbies War Machine, the Vision, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch. Captain Marvel is getting her own solo film, which arrives July 6, 2018. Marvel Studios president Feige added, in the Q&A, that they wanted the end scene to show that the newbies need to learn what it means to be a team, building up from scratch, and having someone like Captain Marvel in the mix would confuse that message. What do you think -- should they have included Captain Marvel and other characters in the end or do you like how they closed "Age of Ultron"? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Nightline' Is Sorry for Confusing 'Quantico' Star With Another Indian Woman Posted: Not all Indian beauty queens look the same, "Nightline." Thankfully, Priyanka Chopra, the stunning actress fronting ABC's new show "Quantico," had a sense of humor about the network's fumble when trying to do a segment on her.

'The Choice' Trailer Brings All the Nicholas Sparks Drama Posted: The new trailer for "The Choice," the latest drama from romance novelist Nicholas Sparks, claims to reveal the secret to life, as explained by protagonist Travis Parker (Benjamin Walker): "The whole damn thing is about choices." In the clip, which premieres today exclusively on Moviefone and across other Aol sites (along with a brand-new poster for the movie, below), we learn that the main choice at the center of the flick is made by Gabby Holland (Teresa Palmer), the comely young lady who catches Travis's eye when she moves in next door. Gabby must decide if she wants to be with Travis or the hunky doctor Ryan (Tom Welling), and it seems she's happiest with the latter option; of course, like any good Nicholas Sparks leading man, Travis isn't letting Gabby go without a fight. The two squabble about their dogs, kiss passionately in a clandestine hookup, and share knowing glances as they party with their equally-gorgeous friends. Travis's know-it-all sister Stephanie (Maggie Grace) seems convinced they'll wind up together; Ryan punches Travis out in a hospital; Gabby is in a life-threatening car accident; there's lots of rain. The drama keeps mounting, and we bet Sparks fans will be reaching for the tissues more than once before the flick is over. Check out the trailer above. "The Choice" hits theaters on February 5, 2016. UPDATED: 'Game of Thrones' Movie in the Works, Says George R.R. Martin Posted: UPDATE: Apparently the rumors of a "Game of Thrones" movie have been exaggerated, according to the person who started the rumors in the first place. On his blog, George R.R. Martin writes that the rumors are "completely false." He went on to say that "no one is working on any movie just now. And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert's Rebellion." Original story is as follows: Get excited, "Game of Thrones" fans. In an interview with Daily Star, "Thrones" creator and author George R. R. Martin claims plans are underway for Westeros to hit the big screen. But there is a catch. "There will be a movie but I will not be involved," Martin said. "I have too much to do. That is something HBO and [showrunners] DB [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do." HBO has yet to officially confirm any plans for a feature, and plot specifics are too soon to call right now. But Martin seems to have a general idea of what the story will be about. "They are looking at dipping back in time during certain periods of the series, which could be examined as a one off plot. That means that some of the big characters who fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected." If what Martin says is true, "Thrones" will soon join fellow HBO series "Sex and the City" and (sigh) "Entourage" as shows turned into movies. The new season premieres in early 2016. 'AHS: Hotel': Why Lady Gaga Will Leave Fans Cursing in First Episode Posted: Lady Gaga was in "Machete Kills" and "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," so it's not like "American Horror Story: Hotel" is really her acting debut. But it is her big acting arrival, since she has the lead role -- and it's quite a role. She plays Elizabeth, aka The Countess, the wealthy bisexual doyenne who owns the Hotel Cortez, has a diet of sex and blood (!) and reveals her dark plan right in the first episode. Speaking of the first episode, that airs next Wednesday, October 7 on FX. Ryan Murphy talked to E! News about the strong reaction fans are going to have to Gaga right away. "She'll give you nightmares," Murphy said. "When you see her you will say 'Holy s-t.'" He later expanded on that same idea, saying, "When you see that first episode when she comes on the screen, you're like, 'Holy s--t.' She has this incredible, magnetic thing that you can't create. You either have it or you don't. And she has it." Apparently what she has is worthy of cursing! (The costumes and makeup and sex/death/horror probably contribute to the holy sh-t effect too.) Executive producer Brad Falchuk added, "She will terrify you and you will also be in love with her at the same. She's Gaga." And yet she went out of her way to show that she's more than Gaga, Murphy said, praising her work ethic: Sounds like it was a successful collaboration, and potentially the first of many. Gaga's Countess is a centerpiece of the fifth AHS season, with many lovers and ex-lovers plotting around her. Here are more details on the characters of "Hotel." Will you be checking in? The 8 Best Lacey Chabert Made-for-TV Movies, Ranked Posted: We at Moviefone love a good big-screen movie, but there's a special place in our hearts for a little something called the "made-for-TV movie." Thanks to the powers that be at networks like Hallmark, Lifetime, and Up, each year brings a steady stream of new movies, and it's enough to make our TV-movie-loving hearts go pitter-patter. And if there's one thing we love more than a made-for-TV movie, it's a made-for-TV movie starring the incomparable Miss Lacey Chabert*. Lucky for us, there are plenty to choose from. Bonus: half of them are our favorite genre of made-for-TV movie: holiday made-for-TV movies! To celebrate Chabert's birthday (September 30, 1982), and to get us amped for the upcoming onslaught of new movies, we're ranking our favorite Lacey Chabert made-for-TV movies from worst to best. We recommend you clear out space on your DVR now. *Honorable mentions go out to these other frequent TV movie stars: Candace Cameron Bure, Haylie Duff, and Tori Spelling. What If Matilda Went to Hogwarts? Mara Wilson Speculates on Potter Friendship Posted: Most of us wish we could've gone to Hogwarts, but we're not all magically qualified. What about Matilda Wormwood? You may recall the 1996 movie "Matilda" starring Mara Wilson as a young genius with mean parents, a bully for a principal, and -- oh yeah -- telekinesis! Everything about her story seems fit for the world of "Harry Potter." What if she got an invitation to Hogwarts? How would that play out?
Maybe Matilda would look up to the Potter group and wish she could join them. She might be the female Colin Creevey ... or maybe she'd have a crush on Harry and give Ginny Weasley some competition. See Ron Howard's Epic Selfie With George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola Posted: No big deal, just three iconic film directors hangin' out takin' selfies. Not the droids you're looking for. Move along. Except it is kind of awesome to see "Star Wars" king George Lucas, the "Godfather" himself, Francis Ford Coppola, and Opie, aka Ron Howard, in one very casual-looking photo. Maybe they just gather every so often in a director's version of Jimmy Kimmel's Handsome Men's Club. (Spielberg was probably in the bathroom.)
One fan joked that it was confirmation of "Willow 2," referencing the 1988 movie directed by Howard from a story by Lucas. Coppola appears to be gesturing for some reason, maybe he's trying to direct Howard. Howard also had a fanboy moment when Usher performed during the conference: That's cool too, but it would've been nice to see and hear more from the directors. If only they had taped whatever conversation they had before and after taking the photo. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Fear the Walking Dead' Web Series Spinoff Gets Premiere Date Posted: It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... another "Walking Dead" spinoff! Remember "The Walking Dead" webisodes? Good times. AMC is kind of bringing them back in a creative new series tied to "Fear the Walking Dead." FTWD is ending its short first season this Sunday, October 4, and Entertainment Weekly said that's also the premiere date of the new web spinoff, "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462." The Web story will start on AMC.com, and every episode after that will first show during commercial breaks in "The Walking Dead" Season 6, which starts Sunday, October 11. But you can also just watch the rest of the episodes online, after they debut on TV. EW said each mini episode will be under a minute, showing what happens on a commercial flight in the early days of the outbreak, when the passengers discover one of their own is infected. Here's the coolest part: As we noted before, this is kind of like "Survivor" in that a surviving passenger of this web series will join "Fear the Walking Dead" for Season 2. Who will it be? Fans have already speculated that the plane of this web series may be the one Nick (Frank Dillane) spotted in an episode of "Fear." (See photo above.) Maybe it crashes nearby and Nick's group comes upon this survivor who joins the Season 2 cast? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Enchanted' Sequel Update: Here's the Intriguing New Title Posted: It's been eight years for viewers and a career lifetime for Amy Adams since "Enchanted" made Disney magic in 2007. There's been talk of a sequel for a while now, but not much solid intel. However, Collider recently shared some cool details on what is apparently not just being called "Enchanted 2." Here's their scoop: "Disenchanted"! That could be interesting. Collider added that it's not clear which actors might be returning for the sequel. Could it ever work without Amy Adams? She has shown interest in the past, but her career and family life have changed a lot in the ensuing years, so the timing may be tricky. But, as one commenter noted, the 10th anniversary of the original is coming up in 2017, so it would be great if they can make the movie in 2016 and release it in the following year. Maybe? Speaking of amazing Amy, though, at the end of 2014, Ms. Adams told Moviefone that little girls still come up to her and recognize her as Giselle. We asked her why Disney hasn't done another "Enchanted" yet. Amy answered: Moviefone noted that Disney is pretty good at making sequels, and Amy quipped, "Well, it will have to be called 'Decrepit' if they wait too long." Maybe that's the fallback title if they don't stick with "Disenchanted." Are you excited to hear that fairy dust is finally being sprinkled on this sequel? Want more stuff like this? The 31 Sassiest Reasons We Still Miss 'The Nanny' Posted: What would the '90s have been without "The Nanny"? A sass-less wasteland lacking quips, comebacks, and gloriously satisfying insults, that's what. As anyone who watched the "The Nanny" knows, two things attributed to the show's success: the undeniably sassy antics of nanny Fran Fine (Fran Drescher), and the love-hate (OK, mostly hate) relationship between Niles (Daniel Davis), the butler, and C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane), the latter of which was defined by the merciless barbs they'd throw at one another. In other words, the show was swimming in sass. Feeling nostalgic yet? Well, too bad. Because we're going to take a walk down memory lane and revisit "The Nanny's" unforgettable one-liners, sassiest jokes, and most memorable moments. Best of Late Night TV: Julianne Moore's 'Box of Lies,' Matt Damon's Film Career in 8 Minutes Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. The ageless goddess that is Julianne Moore was on "The Tonight Show" to promote "Freeheld," but she took some time to play Jimmy Fallon's classic game "Box of Lies." They had to take turns describing mystery objects while the other tried to determine whether the descriptions were accurate or lies. Bless her, but she was terrible. Still awesome, though, and endearing in her attempts, especially in the last one. If you want to learn how to speak with a Boston accent, Matt Damon was giving lessons over on "The Late Late Show." Tip: "You can't really do it without swearing." (James Corden, who is British, was awful.) Matt also mentioned discovering his fear of heights at age 34. That's Zachary Levin looking sharp next to him, mostly just listening to the conversation. And here's Matt Damon acting out his entire career in 8 minutes, in another one of James's classics: Over on "Late Night," Seth Meyers and Kenan Thompson played a fun game called "Three Memes and a GIF." Question: Isn't it pronounced with a hard G not like "Jiff"? Reigning Emmys queen Viola Davis was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," talking about her Emmys speech for that historic win, but also dishing on "How to Get Away With Murder," and how she gives her mom money to go to the casinos every Thursday. Plus, you have to see Jimmy's bit on "The Dangers of Texting With Viola Davis." Talk about throwing her under the bus. Michael Pena was on JKL and he broke some history too as the first Mexican astronaut ... in "The Martian," anyway. Ellen Page talked (very eloquently) to Stephen Colbert about "Freeheld" and LGBT progress. Jesse Eisenberg was also on "The Late Show" talking about his new book of short stories and the embarrassment of his face. His words! The perfection of Joseph Gordon-Levitt was on "Conan," describing his new movie "The Walk" as a 3D action movie. He also said it's like a heist movie, but no one gets hurt. And why not, here's Mark-Paul Gosselaar reliving his time as Zack Morris back on "Saved by the Bell": Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.
