Benicio Del Toro Confirms 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' Villain Role Posted: Though it's still a couple (light) years away, that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning for "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which has had some exciting casting news recently. And that includes the involvement of actor Benicio Del Toro in the production, which the actor just confirmed in a recent interview. While in Spain promoting his new movie "A Perfect Day," Del Toro spoke to a local radio station about the "Episode VIII" rumors (as translated here by Star Wars 7 News), and let it slip that not only would he be appearing in the flick, but he's playing a villain, too. Here's the key piece of the transcript: Star Wars 7 News notes that, based on the translation, Del Toro's choice of words about the nature of his part ("I'm like the villain") could convey one of three things: While fans parse that statement, there's obviously another interesting detail from the interview: "Episode VIII"'s filming date, which Del Toro said is likely to be in March. That would give director Rian Johnson a little over a year to finish the flick before its March 2017 release date, which may be pushing things a bit, if "Episode VII" director J.J. Abrams's meticulous work (and revised deadlines) is any indication. We'll have to wait for official word from Disney before any of this is 100 percent confirmed, but we're excited to have the Academy Award-winning Del Toro on board. "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is due in theaters on May 26, 2017. 'Can't Buy Me Love' Star Amanda Peterson's Cause of Death Revealed Posted: Amanda Peterson, the star of '80s classic "Can't Buy Me Love" who passed away suddenly this summer at the age of 43, died of an accidental drug overdose, according to newly-released autopsy and toxicology reports filed by local authorities. Peterson's cause of death was revealed this week by the Weld County Coroner in Colorado, which according to Variety stated that the actress's overdose was the result of "a deadly combination of multiple drugs, including morphine," which caused a "morphine effect" that led to respiratory failure and ultimately her death. The report also said that Peterson "had a variety of prescription drugs in her system, including anti-anxiety medication, anti-psychotic medication, opiates and marijuana," Variety said. "One of the pain meds in her body was at six times the appropriate level." Peterson reportedly had a long history of substance abuse issues, including multiple arrests on drug charges in her hometown of Greeley, Colorado over the past 20 years. Her latest arrest was in May 2012 on DUI and drug paraphernalia charges, according to Variety. Peterson shot to fame after starring alongside Patrick Dempsey in 1987's "Can't Buy Me Love," though she eventually left Hollywood for good in 1994 to move back home to Colorado. Here's Why You Won't See The Hulk in 'Captain America: Civil War' Posted: There's no room for The Hulk in "Captain America: Civil War." Despite the fact that pretty much other Marvel character in existence will be in the upcoming movie, star Mark Ruffalo revealed to Italian site Bad Taste (via Coming Soon) that his character was cut from the final script. "The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie ("Civil War")," Ruffalo said. "I was in the script but then they removed my character ... I don't even know if Hulk will be back soon." In "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Bruce Banner/The Hulk decided to disappear, worried that he was a danger to his friends. Nick Fury hinted he'd gone to Fiji, but that seems silly. Director Joss Whedon would only tease that The Hulk's future is "too amazing." Guess it's too amazing to unfurl in "Captain America: Civil War." As Ruffalo said of Bruce, "He's still missing, and it's unknown where he is. I thought that I would be in the film, but in the end, they evidently believed that the reveal of what happened to the Hulk was too big, and Marvel wants to save that information for later." Well, that makes Fiji even less likely of a destination. Did Bruce go somewhere to tinker on some formula to control his Hulk-outs? Will he meet up with other Marvel Universe characters not in "Civil War"? "Who knows, maybe the Hulk will never return," Ruffalo said. "They want to keep the revelation of what happened to him a secret, because it's something really big." Sounds like it could be standalone movie time. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Nickelodeon Considering Rebooting Classics Like 'Rugrats,' 'Hey Arnold!' Posted: Never underestimate the power of nostalgia. These days, anything and everything can and will be rebooted. Variety reports that Nickelodeon is considering reviving some of its classic shows from the '80s and '90s, including "Rugrats," "Hey Arnold!," and "You Can't Do That on Television." "We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way," said Russell Hicks, president of content and development at Nickelodeon. The old shows won't necessarily be transformed into new series; they might come back in the form of a movie or special. But the network is hoping to appeal to viewers who grew up watching those shows and now have kids of their own. Not only that, those Nickelodeon shows helped launch current stars, including Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice, who were in "Victorious." Perhaps the network is hoping to bring them back with guest appearances. If the reboot train is really leaving the Nickelodeon station, can we request a seat for "Double Dare?" 11 Singers You Forgot Appeared in Movies Posted: Sometimes when stars arrive in Hollywood, they chose either acting or singing. But, eventually those who sing want to try their hand at acting (and vice versa). While some make a career out of doing both -- Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto -- others try it a few times, but then go back to their day job. These are the 11 singers we completely forgot starred in movies. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. Justin Bieber was on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" Wednesday night, and he owned up to some of his past bad behavior, when he had "a bunch of knuckleheads" around him. He also explained why he had that emotional moment at the MTV VMAs. Here's why JB was crying: Jimmy joked that his junk was being pulled hard by the harness he was strapped into, so that probably helped bring on the tears. Justin didn't stay deep and emotional, he got to work doing what he loves best: performing. He did some "Freestylin' with The Roots," performed "What Do You Mean?" and had a Drum-Off with Questlove. He and Jimmy also sang "Where Are U Now" as a country ballad. Over on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Amanda Peet talked about wanting to divorce her husband, who happens to be one of the "Game of Thrones" showrunners. She spends part of her year in Northern Ireland, because GoT shooting is (mostly) based there, but she said she doesn't love David Benioff anymore because of what happened to Jon Snow. She said she made David promise her not to kill Jon Snow; she begged him, she said she heard rumors about Jon Snow, and she wanted proof that he was OK. David sent her a photo of Kit Harington with his long hair and it made her fall back in love with her husband again. But two episodes later they killed off Jon Snow. (For now.) On a related note, they talked about Jon Snow impressions and Amanda did hers, while reading a bra-like advertisement. Her impression is not that great, it's closer to Ygritte mixed with Robb Stark, but it's funny. All you really have to do for Jon Snow is lower your voice and look gloomy. Jimmy Kimmel also addressed a new public policy poll, which said a majority of Republicans still believe President Obama is a Muslim. So JKL took to the street with a pedestrian question: "Is Barack Obama a Muslim?" Back on "The Tonight Show," author Salman Rushdie talked about writing a song for U2. Don't forget: Conan, Seth Meyers, and James Corden are on repeats this week, but things will get back to normal soon, with Stephen Colbert joining the mix with his "The Late Show" debut on September 8. 11 Times Disney Movies Ripped Our Hearts Out Posted: Disney is renowned for creating some of the most beloved, family-friendly animated films ever. Movies that make us smile, laugh and sometimes cry obscene amounts of tears. Sometimes it seems like the studio can't churn out one project without a tragic death or some heart-wrenching scene of a plucky animal hero being orphaned by a cruel and heartless world. Heck, Pixar has practically boiled this down to a science by now. Sometimes, watching Disney movies is a downright traumatizing experience. On that note, here are 11 times these animated classics broke our hearts and left us reaching for the tissue box. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The 23 Best Teen Horror Movies Ever, Ranked Posted: Horror filmmakers have a special fondness for shedding teenage blood. After all, teens are horror's primary audience, so it's especially frightening -- and cathartic -- to see teens like themselves targeted by deadly evil, often just for behaving like normal adolescents. In the last four decades, movies about teens targeted by slashers have become the mainstay of movie horror. With horror flick "Kitchen Sink" arriving in theaters soon, it's worth looking back at some of the most celebrated teen horror movies of all time. Just remember, don't separate from the group, and don't have sex. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
