Weekend Box Office: 'Straight Outta Compton' Dethroned by 'War Room' Posted: LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mass audience blockbusters gave way to the small and highly targeted over a sleepy Labor Day weekend at the box office. Sony's faith-based "War Room" fought its way to first place in its second weekend in release, earning an estimated $12.6 million across the four-day holiday weekend. The micro-budget family drama has earned $27.9 million to date according to the studio. New release "A Walk in the Woods," debuted in third place, behind "Straight Outta Compton," with $10.5 million from 1,960 screens, while the action pic "The Transporter Refueled" took fifth with a lackluster $9 million from over 3,400 screens. But, it was Pantelion's Spanish-language animated film "Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos," that truly stood out among the pack, taking in $4.4 million from just 395 locations. Sam Smith's Bond Theme Song For 'Spectre' Drops September 8: Report Posted: Adele sang the theme song for Daniel Craig's last James Bond movie, "Skyfall," so who is following that act for "Spectre"? It's reportedly Smith. Sam Smith. And, according to HitFix, we'll hear the new song tomorrow, aka Tuesday, September 8. Here's the scoop:
There were rumors that maybe Ellie Goulding would be singing the next Bond song, but here's a strong SPECTRE hint from Sam Smith himself: - SAM SMITH (@samsmithworld) September 7, 2015 Back in September, "Spectre" director Sam Mendes told BBC Radio the theme song was just finished. "I can say that the song's been recorded and it's fantastic and I'm very excited about it." He also said "Spectre" is a bigger movie than "Skyfall" and was shot in more places. "It's been an enormous undertaking." "Spectre" is scheduled for release November 6, 2015. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Trainspotting 2' Is Danny Boyle's Next Film, With Original Cast Posted: Danny Boyle's lust for life has not waned since "Trainspotting" came out in 1996. A sequel to the edgy Scottish drug movie has been discussed for years now, but the director sounded confident when updating Deadline on "Trainspotting 2." The original movie, based on Irvine Welsh's novel, was written by John Hodge. Danny Boyle told Deadline that Hodge's script for the sequel is terrific, and said it will be his own next film, depending on the actors' schedules. "All the four main actors want to come back and do it," Boyle said. "Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series." Those "two of them" are apparently Jonny Lee Miller ("Elementary") and Robert Carlyle ("Once Upon a Time"), who were featured in the original along with main star Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Kelly Macdonald, and Kevin McKidd, whose character died in the movie. The sequel script is reportedly based on Irving Welsh's book "Porno," his own sequel to "Trainspotting." Back in 2008, Boyle talked to Moviefone about making the sequel, saying he wanted to wait a while to let the actors (visibly) age the 10 years of the book. Here's what Boyle said in 2008: They should be old enough by now, so we just have to wait for the schedules to align. Are you excited to (finally) see this sequel come to be, 20 years after the original? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Carly Releases 'Blindsided' Song for Kirk After 'Bachelor in Paradise' Dumping Posted: Here's one way to make lemonade out of lemons: Turn your televised dumping into a showcase for your music career. Carly Waddell just got her heart broken last night on the first part of the "Bachelor in Paradise" Season 2 finale. Tonight will feature the second part of the finale, plus an "After Paradise" special where Carly and Kirk DeWindt will discuss what went wrong. (Awwwwkwwwarrrrd.) At end of Sunday's show, Kirk dumped Carly in what most viewers -- especially Carly -- found to be a shocking move. They had seemed so happy, but apparently he was having doubts and just wasn't on the same page as Carly. Tanner (who always has plenty to say to the cameras, behind everyone's backs) said it was kind of an a--hole move for Kirk to wait until the 11th hour. Kirk shouldn't have led Carly on to that extent, but he does deserve some credit for breaking it off before the fantasy suites, so as not to take it even further. It's not like he didn't like her, he just didn't see the same future. But she never saw it coming, and as the episode aired she reacted to the news on Twitter: So there you go, that's her statement: "Blindsided. A song for Kirk." It's actually a great song and she has an amazing voice.Meanwhile, Kirk -- who has been taking a beating from fans -- issued his own statement: Good luck to both of them in the future. And, in case you're curious, here are some spoilers on what happens tonight in the rest of the finale. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Hugh Jackman Would 'Seriously Consider' Playing James Bond Posted: Do you think Daniel Craig is offended by all this chatter about the next James Bond? He did recently say he wasn't sure he wanted to do another Bond movie after "Spectre," which comes out this November 6, but it's almost like he's already been pushed out the door. Lately all the speculation has been about Idris Elba -- and now Hugh Jackman. Back when Daniel Craig was cast as the first blond Bond, some fans complained that it should've been Hugh Jackman. Well, the Australian hunk told the TV show "The Program" that he was approached for the role but he was busy. "At the time, I was just about to do 'X-Men 2,' and I was like, 'Ah, I don't think it's the right time.'" However, the "Wolverine" star isn't closing the door on playing 007, adding, "I'd seriously consider it." Great news, but now we have potentially too many Bonds on the field. There's Daniel Craig, who at age 47 is still officially in the role; Idris Elba, 43, who has recently seen a big surge in fan support; and Jackman, 46, who may finally have time to play the role some fans saw him in a few years back. Plus, UK bookies have thrown Damian Lewis's name out there, giving Ginger Bond higher odds even than Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill or Michael Fassbender. And if Daniel Craig officially retires a dozen more names will surely be added to the mix. Who would you like to see as the next James Bond? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Jason Momoa Responds to Aquaman Jokes, Promises 'Amazing' Movies Posted: You know what Jason Momoa needs to do? Pull a Jeremy Renner and go on "The Tonight Show" to sing his version of Hawkeye's "I'm as super as they are..." anthem. 'Cause Jason is playing Aquaman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and his own "Aquaman" movie, and the character could really use a good PR boost. Fans have poked fun of the not-so-super DC Comics character over the years, and during a talk at Fan Expo Canada, the "Game of Thrones" alum addressed all the Aquaman fish jokes. We won't have to wait long. Jason's Aquaman will first appear in "Batman v Superman" on March 25, 2016, along with Henry Cavill's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman, and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. His "Aquaman" movie, directed by James Wan, is scheduled for release in 2018. At the Fan Expo, Jason was asked what he could say about "Batman v Superman" and "Aquaman." That's sweet, and something for the family to look forward to as the character re-appears in movies for the next several years. Asked whether Aquaman would be more serious or lighter in tone, Jason seemed unsure, but said, "I don't know [how serious Aquaman will be] yet, but I can't see me busting out a lot of jokes. I don't think it will be like that." He's heard enough jokes! Earlier this year, Jason talked to Entertainment Weekly about Aquaman and Zack Synder's "Batman v Superman": Are you ready for the new, improved and hopefully less mockable Aquaman?
