Posted: 23 Feb 2016 07:30 PM PST A few months ago, Deadpool looked like a movie that would come and go quickly, good or bad, popular or not. But instead it's the hottest release of the year, so far anyway, and continues to dominate the box office, performing much greater than anyone anticipated. And after two weekends, it's still generating news and discussion. Here's the latest: Deadpool is Now the Highest-Grossing X-Men Movie in America After only two weekends in theaters, Deadpool holds the spot for the highest-grossing movie in the X-Men franchise (adding to its other records). Watch the Minds Behind 'The Big Short' Explain How to Make Sense of Financial Nonsense Posted: 23 Feb 2016 06:00 PM PST Movies about finance are usually not funny. There's not exactly a lot of comedy involved when talking about how big banks ruined the lives of millions of Americans. Plus, banking is an inherently boring topic. It uses a lot of obtuse language to describe increasingly obtuse topics. The entire objective of the banking industry is to make everything so complicated that Joe Schmoe will say, "Look, just take my money and don't mess it up." That's why it's a bit of a miracle that The Big Short is not only funny and entertaining, but legitimately educational. Director Adam McKay found a perfect, creative way to cut through all of the seemingly impenentrable language of banking and explain everything to the audience in an understandable way. Surprisingly it all... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

'Star Wars: Episode VIII' Will Attack Set Spies With Drones Posted: 23 Feb 2016 03:00 PM PST J.J. Abrams may not be directing Star Wars: Episode VIII, but that doesn't mean Rian Johnson's movie has completely done away with the mystery box. There is no movie franchise that people love to try and sneak early peeks at more than this, which is unfortunate for those at Disney and Lucasfilm who don't want people spoiled by cruddy, unauthorized pictures. In the past a lot of this snooping behavior could be thwarted by a few tough looking dudes patrolling any areas someone may try to stand with a camera. But this is 2016 and we are in the dawning age of the drone. So how do you stop someone flying over your set and filming you as you film? By attacking their drone with your own drone, obviously. Apparently that's exactly what Episode VIII is planning to do... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
