Almost in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' Yoda Was

Posted:

Star Wars
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" brought together new and old characters, including original trilogy favorites Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2. But the editors of the film recently revealed that another familiar face nearly made it on screen.

In an interview with ET at the ACE Eddie Awards, Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey let slip that Yoda almost made a cameo in "The Force Awakens." Frank Oz, the voice of Yoda, can be heard in the movie during Rey's (Daisy Ridley) vision, but the little green Jedi master is not seen.

"There was one point where we were actually thinking of having Yoda in the film, and then we decided not to," Brandon admitted. "Frank Oz came in for a day and did a whole bunch of Yoda and he was over the moon to do it — and we were tickled pink!"

Perhaps Yoda as Force Ghost will pop up in "Star Wars: Episode VIII." Glad to see him, we would be.

The Scrat-pocalypse Is Here in 'Ice Age: Collision Course' Trailer

Posted:

Ice Age: Collision Course
It's a Scrat-astrophe!

The new trailer "Ice Age: Collision Course" hints at world-ending doom, after Scrat inadvertently sets off a series of events that trigger a apocalyptic meteor shower. The saber-toothed squirrel and his prehistoric friends — Sid the Sloth, Manny the Woolly Mammoth, and others — must leave their home and find new lands where they will be safe.
"Ice Age: Collision Course" looks like more of the same from the first four, very successful movies (yes, this is the fifth movie) — lots of broad jokes, silly pratfalls, and kid-friendly pop culture references. Children will love it ... adults, maybe not so much.

All the actors from previous installments are back as the voices, including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer, and Jennifer Lopez. One fun new addition is scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

"Ice Age: Collision Course" opens in theaters July 22.

Final 'Zoolander 2' Trailer Wants Everyone to Relax

Posted:

Zoolander 2Relax, "Zoolander" fans — the final trailer for the comedy sequel is here, and it's chock-full of all your favorites from the first movie.

The new spot opens with Justin Theroux's evil DJ spinning Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax," but Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) can't relax because he's got to solve the murders of beautiful celebrities — all while looking good, of course. Hansel (Owen Wilson) is there to help, when he's not looking in a mirror.
The new trailer doesn't have a ton of footage we haven't seen in other clips, but it's nice to see Theroux back for a cameo (he also co-wrote the script). And Will Ferrell's zany Mugatu makes us laugh every damn time.

"Zoolander 2" also stars Penelope Cruz and Kristen Wiig, and features cameos by everyone from Kanye West to Justin Bieber to Katy Perry. It opens in theaters February 12.

Watch Nina Dobrev 'Get It On' With Tim Tebow in Sexy 'Lip Sync Battle' Clips

Posted:

"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev is taking on football quarterback Tim Tebow in this week's "Lip Sync Battle" face-off, and it's promising to be quite a hot, sweaty match. So far, Spike TV has teased fans with two preview videos, one showing Tim channel his inner Rocky Balboa for Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger," and another showing Nina channel her inner Marvin Gaye for "Let's Get It On."

Marvin was never this sexy, though, and Nina even works her charms up and down Tim's body, perhaps hoping she can distract him before his second battle. Tim really brings his A-game to his Rocky performance, and that video shows a glimpse of Nina in football gear, which gives us a hint to her second battle.

Here are the two previews:

And here are more teaser photos from Spike:

The Tim Tebow vs. Nina Dobrev lip sync battle debuts Thursday, February 4 at 10 p.m. on Spike TV. Who has your vote to win?

Emilia Clarke Falls for Paralyzed Sam Claflin in Heartbreaking 'Me Before You' Trailer

Posted:

Khaleesi + Finnick = Please Take Our Money and Pass the Kleenex. "Game of Thrones" queen Emilia Clarke has a new sun and stars in "Hunger Games" hero Sam Claflin, and the first trailer for their romantic drama "Me Before You" already has us swooning.

Emilia Clare plays the sweet and slightly ditzy Louisa Clark, who gets a job taking care of the recently paralyzed and now depressed Will Traynor (Sam Claflin).

It sounds like she's the classic manic pixie dream girl who brings the guy out of his shell and gives him a reason to live, but there's more to the story than that. The film is based on the novel by British author Jojo Moyes, who also wrote the screenplay. The all-star cast includes "Doctor Who" alum Jenna Coleman as Katrina Clark, "Game of Thrones" alum Charles Dance as Steven Traynor, Janet McTeer as Camilla Trainor, and Matthew Lewis as Patrick. Brendan Coyle (Mr. Bates on "Downton Abbey") co-stars as well, as you can see in the trailer:

"Me Before You" is scheduled for release on June 3. Are you ready to volunteer as ticket-buying tribute?

Feel the Beer With Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen's 'Bud Light Party' Super Bowl Ad

Posted:

America has seen the light, and there's a "Bud" in front of it! You may have seen Bud Light's teaser last week, featuring Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen and the promise that "The 2016 Bud Light Party is Coming." It came today -- with a really big caucus -- in the official "Bud Light Party: Super Bowl Commercial 2016."

The one-minute ad shows Schumer and Rogen stumping around the country, promoting Paul Rudd and beer as the nations great unifiers. Rudd himself is showcased in the ad, as is Michael Pena, who declares himself "really inspired" after Rogen ends his speech with quotes from "Independence Day."

Amy Schumer: "My fellow Americans, they say we're a nation divided. They say we disagree on everything."

Seth Rogen: "That's not true. We agree on a lot."

Schumer: "Like Paul Rudd. Everybody loves Paul Rudd."

(Rudd, at a Lakers game: "I didn't know that was going to happen!")

Rogen: "You know what else everyone loves? ... Beer!"

Schumer: "That's why we're forming the Bud Light party. Just wait till you see our caucus."

Rogen: "We've got the biggest caucus in the country!"

Schumer: "But it's not, like, TOO big. You can handle it."

Heh. Here's the full commercial:

Obviously, a lot more Super Bowl commercials will be coming with the game this Sunday, February 7, but what do you think of this one? Does this campaign have your vote?

Hugh Laurie Saves George Clooney's 'E.R.' Reunion on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Posted:

Get these two their own buddy movie, stat! George Clooney was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to promote "Hail, Caesar!" and they attempted a last-minute "E.R." reunion sketch. However, no one from the original cast showed up except Clooney, so Kimmel had to call in "House" alum Hugh Laurie to play doctor backup. It was glorious. Glorious!

First, Kimmel broke character as the patient to apologize to Clooney for the lack of "E.R." co-stars.

Clooney: "Julianna Margulies?"
Kimmel: "Yeah, she's filming 'The Good Wife.' She couldn't make it."
Clooney: "Noah Wylie?"
Kimmel: "He wanted to be here, but I guess he's got a thing with his family, Taco Tuesday."
Clooney: "Eriq La Salle?"
Kimmel: "Oh no, Eriq La Salle had jury duty."

Kimmel offered to cancel, but Clooney said, "No, when George Clooney commits to an E.R. sequel..." Kimmel cut in, "... reunion?" and Clooney broke the fourth wall to correct himself.

The real magic happened when Kimmel said they did get "someone" for Clooney to work with. In limped Hugh Laurie (who was in "Tomorrowland" with Clooney), complete with his old "House" cane. Laurie and Clooney looked under the sheets at Kimmel's, uh, issue and tried to save him. "I don't do microsurgery." It's too good. Somehow, "Rapper's Delight" was involved, too. Apparently that heals people?

Watch and love:

Amazing. It wasn't much of an "E.R." reunion, but if Hugh Laurie had diagnosed Jimmy with sarcoidosis it could've been a classic "House" episode.

Quiz: Is This Nicholas Sparks Plot Real or Fake?

Posted:

Nicholas Sparks's movies and books are beloved, sure, but they are also pretty ridiculous. How many plot lines can end in a dead parent, fatal illness, or dramatic kiss in the rain?

Despite all that, we'll never stop watching them (and probably crying while we do).

Think you're an expert on all things Sparks? Take our quiz and prove that you know your stuff.

Here Are the Release Dates for 'Fast and Furious' 8, 9, and 10

Posted:

Quick, break out your 2021 calendar and circle "April 2," 'cause that day already has a need for "Fast & Furious" speed.

Vin Diesel's schedule is now jam-packed with sequels, including his next three appearances as Dominic Toretto. Back in September, Vin -- who is a producer of the "saga," as well as a star -- announced that a trilogy would end the "Fast & Furious" franchise. "Fast 8" was already announced for April 14, 2017, but Vin just shared a new poster with the release dates for the ninth and 10th films as well:

Let that sink in: Two decades and 10 films. Did you ever imagine it would be this way back in 2001, when Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster, first introduced these characters in "The Fast and the Furious"?

Of course, Paul Walker is now gone, his brothers had to help finish his last role as Brian O'Conner in "Furious 7," so everything that happens next will look and feel very different. "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray has been confirmed to helm "Fast 8," but stay tuned for more news on the trilogy.

Are you coming along for the next three rides?

See Five New 'Ghostbusters' Photos, First Trailer Coming 'End of the Month'

Posted:

We got one! Actually, we got five fresh images from the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot, plus this promise from director Paul Feig that the first trailer is coming soon:

So look for that circa Oscars Sunday, February 28, perhaps.

The photo above is of Chris Hemsworth as Kevin, the 2016 equivalent of Annie Potts's Janine. He's more hipsterish than the original ghost-busting secretary, but they both look good in those take-me-seriously glasses.

Here's a collection of the other four photos, featuring the main stars in character:

According to the breakdown on Ghostbusters.com, Patty Tolan, played by Leslie Jones, is described as "Ghost tracker, municipal historian, metaphysical commando." Abby Yates, played by Melissa McCarthy, is a "Paranormal researcher, supernatural scientist, entity trapper." Erin Gilbert, played by Kristen Wiig, is a "Particle physicist, academic firebrand, spectral warrior." Jillian Hotlzmann, played by Kate McKinnon, is a "Nuclear engineer, munitions expert, proton wrangler." Chris Hemsworth's Kevin is just listed as "Kevin," so that is apparently it for his credentials.

Also on the website, if you look under "Cast," beneath the four main stars they list "Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams and Chris Hemsworth." So Tywin Lannister from "Game of Thrones" and Chalky from "Boardwalk Empire" are major players in this, too.

"Ghostbusters" will be released July 15th.

13 Lowest-Grossing Best Picture Winners in Oscars History

Posted:

If frontrunners "The Big Short" or "Spotlight" win the Oscar for Best Picture, they will join the club of lowest-grossing films to win the Academy's highest honor.

To date, "Short" has made $60 million domestic, while "Spotlight" has grossed just shy of $34 million.

For decades, the Academy has crowned both box office hits and misses -- and films that, while lacking punch at the box office, sure made an impact on critics and audiences. No matter which of the two aforementioned films take home Best Picture, here are 13 other winners that will be keeping one of them company.
