Ben Affleck Got Advice on Playing Batman From George Clooney, Christian Bale Posted: Before he donned the cape, Ben Affleck put up the bat signal to the men who've previously Batman, George Clooney and Christian Bale. As he related on "Good Morning America," he received some sage words of advice from the two actors before embarking on filming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." "I talked to Clooney and he gave me some advice which is not repeatable," Affleck said. "And I talked to Christian, who just told me to make sure I got a zipper in the suit, which was valuable, practical advice as it turned out." Clooney played Batman in 1997's lamentable "Batman & Robin," while Bale crusaded in Christopher Nolan's trilogy of films: "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," and "The Dark Knight Rises." Aside from seeking wisdom from his predecessors, Affleck had a more difficult task in preparing to play Batman -- getting in shape. Seeing co-star Henry Cavill's ripped physique in the first movie, "Man of Steel," was daunting. "He has definitely set a high bar but he also has to be in that high bar because he's, you know, an alien," Affleck said. "I figured I had a lower bar to reach because I'm just a man after all, but I ended up putting on about 20 pounds of muscle, which is really hard to do in my advanced age." Want more stuff like this? 21 'Full House' Questions We Want Answered on 'Fuller House' Posted: When "Full House" went off the airwaves twenty-one years ago, we were all like, "cut - it - out!" (Others among us were like "How rude!" We're a varied bunch.) Though it lasted a healthy eight seasons, while reaching new audiences every day in syndication, it can be easy to forget that "Full House" was unceremoniously cancelled. Indeed, the show that had been a hit for ABC for years, spawning catch phrases and strange merchandise, was given the hook before the writers could adequately wrap everything up. So many questions remaining, arcs left incomplete, and dangling threads. Network TV is a fickle mistress. Cut to 2015, when we heard "Fuller House" was coming to Netflix and were immediately screaming, "Have mercy!" (Others yelled, "pin a rose on our nose!" Again, varied bunch!) Finally, the writers could fulfill the decades long questions fans have been left wondering by "Full House"'s abrupt cutoff. Today, we run down some of the original's biggest questions that fans hope "Fuller House" will answer! (Let's cover one thing right off the bat here: Joey was never called Uncle Joey. If you've ever referred to Joey Gladstone as "Uncle Joey" at any point in your life, you have been incorrect. It was always "Uncle Jesse and Joey." Accept this and move on.) New 'Walking Dead' Honest Trailer Pokes Fun at Glenn's Death Posted: "The Walking Dead" really lives up to its name -- with a lot of walking. According to the new Honest Trailer for seasons 4-6, that's all characters seem to do. Oh, and not getting killed, "even when they're clearly eaten by a massive herd of friggin' zombies." That refers to the non-death of Glenn (Steven Yeun), which felt like a predictable cop-out to some fans. Critics pointed to it as another instance where the show keeps major characters alive in unrealistic circumstances. The Honest Trailer also pokes fun at AMC itself, for riding the "Walking Dead" gravy train for all its worth. "From the network behind some your favorite show's prequel spinoffs, comes the phenomenon that shows no signs of stopping," the voice-over says. And it points out how the network likes to use "Walking Dead" to promote its other, lesser shows, like "Into the Badlands" and "Hell on Wheels," though the strategy hasn't exactly succeeded. Best of all? "CORAL!" Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
10 Oscar-Winning One-Hit Wonders Posted: On Sunday, February 28, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hand out the most prestigious awards in Hollywood: The Oscars. Once all the pomp, pageantry, and congratulatory tweeting dies down, newly minted Oscar winners have to get on with their lives -- and careers. Sometimes they continue their critically-acclaimed streak with more high-brow, critically-acclaimed fare, and sometimes they disappear into a poof of "That's the movie you did after your Oscar win?" These 8 actors (plus a director and a screenwriter) experienced a sudden stop in critical praise after scoring their Oscars. Womp womp. 10 Most Terrifying Horror Movies of the Past 10 Years Posted: The Sundance hit "The Witch," which hits theaters on February 19, has been called "beautifully made, bone-chilling horror" and "spectacularly creepy and perverse." Before you try to figure out what exactly is bedeviling a Puritan family in 1630 New England, why not take in these horror gems you may have missed from the past decade? If you're not already afraid of old or isolated houses, home movies or anyone wearing a mask, these movies will change all that. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Help Leonardo DiCaprio Get an Oscar in Online Game Posted: Always the bridesmaid, never the Oscar winner. But Leonardo DiCaprio has a very good chance this year to take home that coveted Academy Award for "The Revenant" -- and in a new online game, fans can help him out. The arcade-style game, called "Leo's Red Carpet Rampage," you play Leo as he sprints down the red carpet toward his floating Oscar. Along the way, he has to avoid stuff like paparazzi and Lady Gaga, outrace competitors like Michael Fassbender and Matt Damon (in costumes), and win special combos from other awards shows, like the Golden Globes. There are also bonus games, based on his previous movies, like crawling into a car high on quaaludes, like in "The Wolf of Wall Street." The gamed was produced by The Line Animation, and is a lot of fun and pretty funny, too (there's a mini-challenge where you have to find the black nominee). Check it out and see if you can help Leo get that Oscar! Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
7 Things We Need to See in 'Toy Story 4' Posted: "Toy Story 3" was pretty much perfect, so you can't blame us for being a little nervous about Disney/Pixar adding another movie to the "Toy Story" franchise. For us to really enjoy it, we need to see some specific things, including no Andy. We mean it. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
