New photo of Scott Adkins from ‘Hard Target 2’ Posted: 17 Feb 2016 12:00 AM PST "Hard Target" Japanese Theatrical Poster A Jean-Claude Van Damme-less sequel to 1993's Hard Target recently wrapped in Thailand by filmmaker Roel Reiné (Death Race 2-3). John Woo (The Killer), the legendary Hong Kong action director of the original, is said to be on board as the film’s producer. Martial arts star Scott Adkins (Close Range, Zero Tolerance, Wolf Warrior) is filling in Van Damme’s shoes for Hard Target 2. The film also stars Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Rhona Mitra (Shooter), Ann Truong (Sonnigsburg), Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern), Adam Saunders (A Heartbeat Away), Jamie Timony (The Hunter), Peter Hardy (Chopper), Sean Keenan (Lockie Leonard), Sahajak Boonthanakit (Zero Tolerance) and Anteo Quintavalle (D is for Detroit). Yanin Vismitananda (Chocolate) is also attached to appear. An on-set photo has emerged of Scott (in Thailand) rehearsing for the project with Master Seng of the famous Seng Stunt Team, a group that specializes in vehicular stunts. Their resume includes action pieces in Tomorrow Never Dies and Ong-Bak. The sequel will continue "the human hunt” in the jungles between Burma and Thailand. “What an honor to work for one of your idols. Hard Target 2 should be an ode to the old films John Woo made in Hong Kong," said Reiné (via Manly Movie). In a recent interview, here’s what Adkins had to say about Hard Target 2: I guess I am continuing to walk the path previously walked by JCVD (laughing) It’s just a coincidence I promise you, but yes, I do keep getting involved with projects that are sequels to his earlier work or I am co-starring with him… the director really knows how to shoot action and get the best look and epic production value for his movies… there are moments that pay homage to the original and we are doing everything we can to deliver a worthy sequel… and a hell of an action film in its own right.” Other Adkins films on the radar include Boyka: Undisputed IV, Criminal, Eliminators, Jar Head 3 and a recently announced part in Doctor Strange. Hard Target 2: Unrated Edition premieres exclusively on Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital HD Fall 2016 from Universal 1440 Entertainment, the original content production arm of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Updates: A new production photo has emerged of Adkins with a member of the Seng Stunt Team. The image, which appears to be on the rooftop of a building, may hint that not all the action will take place in the jungles of Thailand.
