Posted: 02 Feb 2016 10:00 PM PST

It's a safe bet that there are a ton of Steven Spielberg fans who would love to tap into the brain of Kristie Macosko Krieger. She's been working with Spielberg for over two decades and has been involved with every single project he's been involved with since 1997. That means she's been privy to every stage of production on movies like Minority Report, War of the Worlds, and Lincoln, on TV shows like Band of Brothers and The Pacific and in Spielberg's prolific philanthropy, including the Shoah foundation.  But Krieger has long since been promoted beyond being just Spielberg's assistant. She's now an active, full on producer and her latest production with Spielberg is one of the best movies of 2015, Bridge of Spies. Out now on Blu-ray, DVD and...

Another Classic Character Almost Starred in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Posted: 02 Feb 2016 09:00 PM PST

The one thing that's most evident when it comes to the first two Star Wars movies Disney is putting out (The Force Awakens and Rogue One), it's that they have every intention of mixing familiar characters with new ones. The Force Awakens alone saw Luke, Leia and Han return, and in one scene we even briefly heard the voices of both young and old Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as Yoda. However, that last character almost had a much bigger role in the film, according to Force Awakens editors Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey. They told ET... "There was one point where we were actually thinking of having Yoda in the film, and then we decided not to. Frank Oz came in for a day and did a whole bunch of Yoda and he was over the moon to do it -- and we were tickled...

This Villain Was Scientifically Determined to Be the Most Realistic Movie Psychopath

Posted: 02 Feb 2016 06:00 PM PST

Are all villains in movies psychopaths? No. But are all serial killers in movies psychopaths? That's also no, as revealed by an actual scientific study of 400 movies released over the past century. Led by a professor in Belgium, the examination of psychopathy in cinema lasted three years and resulted in a final list of 126 characters (105 of them male) that qualified for the diagnosis. You can read the whole report in the latest issue of the Journal of Forensic Sciences. But here is a summary of some of its findings, via Tech Insider: Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) of No Country For Old Men was determined to be the most realistic psychopath ever to hit the big screen, because "he seems to be effectively invulnerable and resistant to any form of emotion or...

Watch a New Trailer for 'The Witch' and Say "Boo!"

Posted: 02 Feb 2016 04:30 PM PST

We can only imagine how challenging it was to live in New England nearly four centuries ago. On the positive side, opportunities were wide open for families willing to work hard in beautiful surroundings. On the scary side, that very same natural environment could harbor unknown terrors. In The Witch, writer/director Robert Eggers sets up the challenging circumstances for a newly arrived family. Under threat of banishment, a husband moves with his wife and five children to a rural plot of land to make a new life for themselves in New England. Almost at once, however, strange things begin to happen, things that are difficult to explain, things that cause family members to look upon each other with suspicion. A new trailer for the movie gives a peek into a rural world of growing...

Here's the Real Reason Why Bill Murray Kept Living on Repeat in 'Groundhog Day'

Posted: 02 Feb 2016 03:00 PM PST

What's not to love about Bill Murray as an ill-fated weatherman who is forced to relive the same day over and over in Groundhog Day? Comedy gold. If you've ever wondered the real reasons why Murray's sourpuss meteorologist was chosen to repeat the same sadistic time loop, voiceover artist Eddie Deezen has your answer. He ponders why Murray's Phil deserved such a hefty punishment and points to the second draft of the script for an explanation. Apparently it has to do with a curse that Phil's ex-girlfriend put on him. "Literally, she opens a book of magic spells and does a little ritual that causes him to get stuck in time…. There is no 'higher purpose' given, just an angry, embittered ex-girlfriend with a little book,"...

Posted: 02 Feb 2016 01:30 PM PST

What happens when a hard rock band witnesses a horrific crime inside a neo-Nazi bar? Well, let's just say it ain't pretty... but damn is it wildly entertaining. The first red band (NSFW) trailer for Green Room has arrived online, teasing a fierce thriller about a bunch of kids who get stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time and must somehow find a way to escape before it's too late. Check it out. After Green Room had its United States premiere at Fantastic Fest, Jacob Hall wrote a great post about how the movie shows us a side of Patrick Stewart we've never really seen before: that of the unrelenting, unapologetic and yet disarmingly charming psychopath. Stewart isn't actually the main star of the movie, though. Those duties...
