Watch: Neil deGrasse Tyson Stars In a Viral Video for 'The Martian' Posted: 28 Aug 2015 07:26 PM PDT One thing sci-fi fans will be expecting this fall is a response from Neil deGrasse Tyson on the scientific authenticity of Ridley Scott's The Martian. But the celebrity astrophysicist is already endorsing the movie in a big way. He stars in a new promotional video as himself, hosting an episode of his show StarTalk that only exists within the universe of The Martian to discuss the fictional spacecraft The Hermes and its dangerous Ares 3 mission to Mars. At the end, after stating that Earth is the planet "to which we owe our creation" but "no longer seems destined to be our final resting place," we see a group image of the Ares 3 crew, characters played by Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie and... 'Borderlands' Is The Next Video Game to Get a Movie Adaptation Posted: 28 Aug 2015 05:30 PM PDT Now that The Hunger Games is a few months away from ending, Lionsgate will soon find themselves in need of another big franchsie that already has a built in fanbase. They're hoping they've already got that with their in-development Power Rangers movie, but now they're hedging their franchise bets by going for the gamer market, as Variety is reporting the studio has struck a deal for the Borderlands franchise. Avi and Ari Arad, who produced all of the Spider-Man movies, are overseeing the project for the studio. They don't have any directors or writers officially attached at this point, but now that the news is out there they'll no doubt be getting plenty of calls from some top Hollywood talent. If done right - and there's a big If there - this could be a... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Comics on Film: Does Superman Need, or Even Deserve, Another Solo Film? Posted: 28 Aug 2015 03:00 PM PDT Look, I’ll admit it: even I find this piece's headline ridiculous, especially considering what made up the bulk of Comics on Film a couple of weeks ago. But, you can't help what people talk about, so this seemed like a good opportunity to address it. The question of whether or not the original superhero deserves another solo effort in movie theaters is something that seems to have come up recently. With the surfacing of a rumor indicating that Mad Max (and one-time Justice League: Mortal) director George Miller would be taking up the next cinematic adventure for the Man of Steel, yet another rumor has cropped up that would seem to say that Warner Bros. is now unwilling to “risk” another Superman... Why Is Martin Scorsese in This 'Campus Code' Trailer? Posted: 28 Aug 2015 01:30 PM PDT A new trailer for independent movie Campus Code sets up an intriguing premise: how did a young man (Jesse McCartney) survive getting pushed off a tall building? The young man and his friends visit a doctor, who examines the college student and concludes: "Everything checks out alright." Then the doctor turns around and … it's Martin Scorsese! Why is he showing up in a trailer for a low-budget sci-fi flick? Nowadays, Scorsese is best known for his sprawling, big-budget, award-worthy epics, movies like The Wolf of Wall Street, Hugo, and Shutter Island. Long before that, however, Scorsese was a struggling filmmaker in New York who made movies on the cheap. He established relationships with talented people early on in his career, and his loyalty began... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 28 Aug 2015 12:00 PM PDT Doctor Strange: Veteran actor Mads Mikkelsen (TV's Hannibal) is in early talks to play an unspecified role in Marvel's Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumbarbatch is set to star as the good doctor, Earth's protector against "magical and mystical threats," while Tilda Swinton will play the doctor's mentor and Chiwetel Ejiofor will portray the doctor's chief nemesis; Mikkelsen would reportedly play a villainous character. Production is expected to get underway later this year, with the movie aiming for release on November 4, 2016. [Variety] The Titan: Sam Worthington (Wrarth of the Titans) and Ruth Wilson (The Lone Ranger) will star in The Titan, a love story set in the "not too distant" future. The film will revolve around a military... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
