Watch: Even the 'Mad Max' Video Game Promos Are Badass and Awesome

Posted: 18 Aug 2015 08:15 PM PDT

There's a fierce argument to be made for Mad Max: Fury Road as the year's best movie (at least up until this point), and it's going to be interesting to see just how much George Miller's post-apocalyptic masterpiece will be embraced come awards time (I think it deserves to be a Best Picture contender -- but we'll see). As the film roars to life on Digital HD, VOD and Blu-ray, Mad Max fans are also getting ready to welcome a new video game this September -- one that interweaves its story through Fury Road, adding new characters and more of those War Boys. To promote the upcoming video game, Warner Bros. Games hired filmmaker Devin Graham to shoot a badass live-action short film that feels like the ultimate love letter to the series and Fury Road, in particular...

You're Old: 'The Usual Suspects' Came Out 20 Years Ago

Posted: 18 Aug 2015 06:45 PM PDT

It's been two decades since cinema's most famous police lineup sent viewers down a twisty rabbit hole in pursuit of someone named "Keyser Soze," and movies have never been the same. Yes, The Usual Suspects was released 20 years ago this week, and if you remember seeing it in theaters in 1995, brace yourself for a surprise twist: You're Old®. Though it was released near the end of the summer, the movie first saw the light of day the previous January at the Sundance Film Festival. Bryan Singer was a distinguished alumnus of the fest, his Public Access having shared the Grand Jury Prize two years earlier. Despite that honor, Public Access never got theatrical distribution, and the bare-bones DVD (released after Singer got famous) is now out of print. But it...

'Scooby-Doo' Is Getting a New Movie and Possibly a Whole Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe

Posted: 18 Aug 2015 03:00 PM PDT

The pair of Scooby-Doo live-action movies are actually pretty funny, clever, creative movies for kids (which shouldn't be a surprise considering they were written by Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn), but they were a bit expensive to make and not huge blockbusters so after the superior Monsters Unleashed hit theaters in 2004, all future Scooby movies went back to the land of small screen animation. But now - well, technically on September 21, 2018 - Scooby-Doo is heading back to the big screen.  Warner Bros. is still planning to keep the movies animated this time, and they're turning to their regular animation team to be the creative force behind it. That's a good thing because while the Scooby-Doo movies since Monsters Unleashed have all been...

'Victor Frankenstein' Trailer: Watch James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe Bring Life to a Monster

Posted: 18 Aug 2015 01:30 PM PDT

We've seen a number of Frankenstein tales over the years, but we've never really seen one told from Igor's perspective. That's what Victor Frankenstein  -- in theaters November 25 -- looks to deliver, along with some pretty gnarly gothic horror vibes. Written by Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra), this latest version of the classic Frankenstein tale feels a bit like a ghoulish Sherlock Holmes in terms of the chaotic relationship between stars James McAvoy (Victor Von Frankenstein) and his loyal assistant, Igor (Daniel Radcliffe). And there's most definitely some freaky body-horror stuff going on -- all of it wrapped around the tale of a man's attempts to create new life out of... well, maybe you should just watch this. Check out the first...
