'Fantastic Four' Round-Up: An Unused Script, Easter Eggs, Deleted Scenes and More Posted: 10 Aug 2015 09:00 PM PDT Over the course of the past year, the only times Fantastic Four really seemed to be in the news was when people started wondering, "Hey, why isn't Fantastic Four in the news?" For a big studio comic book movie, it was uncharacteristically shy on revealing not just plot details, which is understandable, but even things like looks at character costumes. But now that the franchise reboot is in theaters, it's all over the news. Obviously it's not for the preferred reasons (it tanked at the box office), but if you're interested in whatever legacy Josh Trank's Fantastic Four will have, there is plenty to start pouring over today. The stuff we know was left out of the movie Screen Crush has done a good job of pouring over all of the material... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
A Chinese Creature Feature Is Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Movies of All Time Posted: 10 Aug 2015 07:51 PM PDT If you haven't heard of Monster Hunt yet, that's probably because you don't live in China or follow international box office reports. But it's worth adding to your radar, because it's quickly becoming one of the biggest movies of all time. Here's what you need to know: What is Monster Hunt? Monster Hunt is a Chinese 3D IMAX fantasy film, seemingly aimed at kids, combining live-action and computer animation. Or, maybe it's just a live-action movie with CG creatures, but these creatures look more like cartoons than characters intended to seem realistic. It is directed by Raman Hui, an animator who has worked on a number of DreamWorks Animation features and shorts (plus Batman and Robin) and who co-directed Shrek the Third. What is... Mondo Wants To Make Sure Anyone Can Get Their Awesome 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Posters Posted: 10 Aug 2015 06:00 PM PDT The biggest complaint about Mondo's collectible movie posters is that they are just too dang hard to actually buy. For starters, Mondo may announce what day a new poster is going on sale, but they won't tell you what time it'll pop up on the website. So you already have to get lucky on noticing when they go on sale. And even if you do get lucky, the posters are printed up in such small quantities they can sell out in an instant. If there are only 300 copies of a poster for sale, and you're person 301, too bad. But hey, that's why they're collectible. If they were mass produced on cheap, glossy paper and sold in Hot Topic, they wouldn't exactly be boutique, collectible posters, now would they? Every now and then, however, Mondo does a theoretically... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
You're Old: 'Pee-wee's Big Adventure' Came Out 30 Years Ago Posted: 10 Aug 2015 04:30 PM PDT It's been three decades since a certain bow-tied man-child danced to "Tequila," fought a fat kid in a pool-sized bathtub, and inquired about the Alamo's basement. If Pee-wee's Big Adventure were a person, it would now be way too old to be acting like that (though still not as old as Paul Reubens was when he filmed it). And yes, if you saw Pee-wee's Big Adventure in the theater on Aug. 9, 1985, I have bad news: you're old. (Your response: "I know you are, but what am I?" Touché.) Pee-wee's Big Adventure is 30, but the character is almost 40. Pee-wee came to life in 1977, when 25-year-old Paul Reubens was performing with The Groundlings, the L.A. sketch-and-improv troupe that has spawned an astonishing number of stars... Bill Murray Confirmed for New 'Ghostbusters' Posted: 10 Aug 2015 03:00 PM PDT Everyone who saw the hilarious, matchless performances by Bill Murray in the Ghostbusters comedies dreamed that he might one day agree to make another sequel, yet he never exhibited much enthusiasm for the idea. But when rumors began flying last year about the possibility of an all-female version, he was all in favor, stating: "I would go to that movie. They’d probably have better outfits, too.” Murray even named Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig as prospective cast members and, indeed, both are starring in a new version that is now filming under the direction of Paul Feig. Now Murray has made dreams come true: he will indeed appear in the new Ghostbusters, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Will Murray be reprising his orignal role as Dr. Peter Venkman... Movie News: Two More Solo Ben Affleck 'Batman' Movies Rumored; 'Training Day' Eyed for TV Posted: 10 Aug 2015 01:35 PM PDT Batman: Ben Affleck is already set to star in, co-write, and direct a solo Batman movie, but now a new rumor suggests that a rough cut of next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- in which the actor makes his first appearance as Batman -- so impressed Warner Bros. executives that they want to make three stand-alone Batman movies and "are now working their movie universe around Ben's Batman." Affleck will reprise the character in Justice League, due on November 17, 2017, so the first solo Batman movie won't be out until after that. [Den of Geek] Training Day: Denzel Washington earned an Academy Award for his performance as a corrupt cop in Training Day, and now, 14 years later, the movie may be heading to television. Reportedly, it was... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch: 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' TV Spot Features Tiny Bit of New Footage Posted: 10 Aug 2015 12:43 PM PDT That shot above of the First Order all lined up and readying to pounce on anyone and anything that gets in their way is pretty much all the new footage you're going to see in this first international TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, due out on December 18. Check it out below. The First Order is what became of the Empire following the events of Return of the Jedi, and as we inch closer to the film's release date we'll probably learn more about this new incarnation of Star Wars bad guys. Who leads them? How are they different from the Empire? What we lern from this image is that no matter what they seem to be rolling pretty deep in terms of numbers. Speaking of that image up top, it appears to be a reversal of this previously-released moment... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
