Lady Gaga's 'American Horror Story: Hotel' Pool Party Was Bloody Fun

Posted:

Songwriters Hall Of Fame 46th Annual Induction And Awards - ArrivalsLady Gaga took a cue from her murderous new character on "American Horror Story: Hotel" this weekend, throwing a party for her castmates that came complete with a (fake) blood-filled pool.

Gaga shared some snaps of the bash on her social media accounts, posting a handful of images on Instagram and Facebook showcasing some of the planning of the party -- including the ruby red waters that were the centerpiece of the eerie event. The singer-actress also couldn't help but embody her villainess character, The Countess, from "Hotel," apologizing to fans for the lack of detailed photographic evidence of the shenanigans with a winking explanation.

"At my parties, killer friends have more fun, when no evidence is left behind," Gaga wrote on Instagram.

We'll have to use that awesome snap -- and our imaginations -- to fill in the blanks, but judging from these excited tweets from "AHS" creator Ryan Murphy, Gaga's party was every bit as awesome as you'd think.
Maybe our invitations just got lost in the mail?

Gaga and the rest of her "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast are set to make a splash on FX on October 7.

Melissa McCarthy Wants to Ban the Term 'Plus-Size'

Posted:

Melissa McCarthy Debuts First Fashion Collection, As Melissa McCarthy prepares to launch her first clothing line, the comedienne is speaking out about some of the more negative aspects of fashion -- and how she hopes to combat them.

At the top of McCarthy's list is the term "plus-size," which the Oscar nominee says is disrespectful and dismissive. In an interview with Refinery29, McCarthy said her line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, would cater to a wider group of women, and be more inclusive than your typical brand, celebrity or otherwise.

"Women come in all sizes," the actress explained. "Seventy percent of women in the United States are a size 14 or above, and that's technically 'plus-size,' so you're taking your biggest category of people and telling them, 'You're not really worthy.' I find that very strange."

McCarthy added that she thought the plus-size terminology was "very bad business" and "doesn't make a lot of sense numbers-wise." To that end, McCarthy is simply selling her clothing in sizes 4 through 28 (no X's standing in for larger sizes here, thank you), and has gotten several retailers to agree to sell each piece in the same section, rather than "segregating" the larger-numbered sizes in a separate area.

The actress said she was inspired to start the line thanks in part to her own negative experiences trying to shop for clothes that fit her curves. McCarthy had trouble finding fashions early on in her career (including costumers for her character when she starred on "Gilmore Girls" in the early 2000s), and she doesn't want women who don't have her same resources to suffer from a lack of options.

"I just don't get why we always have to group everything into a good or bad, right or wrong category," she told Refinery29 of banning "plus-size." "I just think, if you're going to make women's clothing, make women's clothing. Designers that put everyone in categories are over-complicating something that should be easy."

McCarthy's line has already launched on HSN, and will be released at retailers worldwide -- including Macy's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Evans, and Lane Bryant -- later this month.

A Speaks! Vanessa Ray On 'PLL's' Big Reveal and What's Next for the Liars

Posted:

Teen Choice Awards 2015 - Press Room Just a few weeks ago, the long-simmering secret identity of "A," the central scheming antagonist on "Pretty Little Liars," remained such a zealously guarded secret that when the character was nominated as Choice TV Villain for the Teen Choice Awards, the nomination was given to only to the character, with no performer named.

What a difference a few days -- and a massively revealing finale episode -- makes. Actress Vanessa Ray, as the sociopathic transgender CeCe (formerly Charles) Drake, was able to walk the aqua blue carpet at the awards show, turn heads, garner cheers and, best of all, collect that surfboard-shaped Teen Choice trophy with no need for secrecy. "This is a cool moment to capture in my own personal life," Ray told Moviefone on the arrivals line, marveling at the sudden influx of attention. "I've never done anything like this before."

Moviefone: How crazy has your life become in the space of a week, since the big reveal came out?

Vanessa Ray: My life has changed crazily in a week. Even the last couple months. I mean, I filmed this episode the week I was getting married, and it was a huge surprise to me. I was like "Oh, whatever week in the summer -- I'm available these weeks." And they were like "Surprise: it's going to be right when you get married and you don't get to go on a honeymoon." It's like, "Okay." This whole last couple of months have been nuts! In this last week I went from obscurity -- like only my parents followed me on Instagram -- to having all kinds of people having commentary and opinions -- beautiful opinions, glorious opinions -- for me.

Did you start getting screams from the fans as you showed up here at Teen Choice Awards today?

Yeah, a bit, I did! Nothing like before. I feel like, "Am I in a boy band?" I would like to now join one. One Direction needs someone, right? I'm transgendered on the show -- I'm available!

Speaking of playing transgendered on the show, although this is a great moment in time for that topic, that wasn't a deliberately calculated choice in its timing, was it?

No, not at all!

To have a place in that conversation right now, that's changing hearts and minds, what's that meant to you?

It's not even about pushing the envelope. It's about finding acceptance, and what really this episode in general was about, for me, was Charles wasn't the bad guy because she was transgender. That had nothing to do with anything. It was about what can happen to somebody when you crush their human spirit. When you crush their heart so much, so early on, they can become the villain. So how delicate lives are -- If you act like a human doesn't matter, they're going to go on to treat people that way. So how we treat each other is really important, and it's been really cool to be part of that story and to have this time in life.

The big reveal comes all these years after people have been dying to know-

Oh my god - everyone was like, "WHO IS IT??" And fans were saying to me "We know it's you!" and I'm like "Don't say anything!" I wanted to talk to each of them personally and say "Please don't ruin it for everyone!"

How long did you know in advance yourself? Did they tell you a while ago or right before the reveal came?

Not right before, but by the beginning of summer I knew. I had a little time to sit and marinate in it and think about it.

And did it make instant sense to you?

It did, because I had a lot of secret stories and conversations that I had with Marlene [King] and some of the cast, like, early, early on, so when I found out I was "A" I was able to go back and track storylines and things that had been cut along and whatever they way and was able to go "Oh, now that makes sense." So it tracked for me.

I think the best thing that happened was there are so many people who are so engaged in the show, there were a lot of people who said "No! This is NOT true!"

Grumpy! Very upset!

How did you handle those... not haters, but the deniers, let's call them.

They're not haters. They're grievers, I think. They're going through the classic grieving process, which is like their candidate for president didn't win and their sports team lost and their belief that the sky was blue -- it wasn't blue. And that was really hard for them. And I'm just loving that group, because they're entitled to feel that way! They had a hypothesis, and it was shattered, and that must suck! And I know what that's like. I remember when I found out Santa Claus wasn't real--

Hey, hey-if you think you got some pointed social comments this week, you'd better brace yourself--

No -- he's real. When I found out some theories about Santa Claus... No, when your sports team loses, you're mad at the other guy. But I have seen people come around, I've gotta say. They watched the episode again and again and they see the humanity in it, and they start like "I hate you! You're a bitch!" and then later they're like "Actually, I really love you and I really get it." So it's kind of cool.

So what can you say about what's next?

Well, now we're going fast forward five years. I mean, the girls on "PLL" are just great actresses and they just really sink their teeth into everything they do, so we get to see them play this more mature side of themselves, which is really cool. And Alison dealing with this new family member that she has loved, and getting acquainted with this person.

'Agent Carter' Star Hayley Atwell Wants to Play Doctor Who

Posted:

55th Monte Carlo TV Festival : Closing Ceremony"Agent Carter" star Hayley Atwell doesn't just want to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; she'd like to star in the Whoniverse, too.

Atwell, who plays the titular spy on ABC's "Carter" and in the "Captain America" films, recently revealed herself to be a big fan of long-running fantasy series "Doctor Who." And when she was asked by a Twitter follower if she'd ever consider guest-starring on the show, the British actress gave a pretty awesome response.

"I'd like to BE Doctor Who," Atwell replied, launching a thousand fan fiction entries in the process.
It's no secret that while much beloved, "Doctor Who" still draws criticism for its all-male, all-white casting of the titular time-traveler. While Atwell is a bit busy at the moment with her Marvel duties, it's still technically plausible for her to also pull double duty as the Doctor (filming during breaks from the "Agent Carter" shoot, for example).

And if not her, surely there's another British actress who'd be perfect for the part, too, right? It seems about time for the Doctor/companion roles to be gender-swapped. Or better yet, how about females in both lead roles?

Here's hoping Atwell's wish can come true.

14 Times Jake Peralta From 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Was the Funniest Cop on TV

Posted:

Benson. Stabler. Columbo. Sipowicz. Kojak. These are just some of the biggest names in TV cop history. While they all have their own unique approaches to the detective game, none of them are quite like "Brooklyn Nine-Nine""s own Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg). Sure, he's childish and doesn't follow the rules, but that's why he's one of NYPD's finest.

Keep doing you, Peralta. We would go undercover with you any day.

First 'Beauty and the Beast' Footage Stuns at D23 (But Fans Will Have to Wait to See It)

Posted:

British Fashion Awards - Red Carpet ArrivalsThe first footage from Disney's upcoming live-action reboot of "Beauty and the Beast" debuted at the D23 expo this weekend, and it apparently stunned attendees. Unfortunately for average fans, if you didn't snag a ticket to the event, you won't be able to see it for yourself.

Despite Disney declining to put the footage up online (so far, anyway), some savvy internet commenters have helped fill in the blanks for those who couldn't witness "Beauty" (and the first look at its titular star, Emma Watson) in person. And it seems like the flick will almost certainly live up to the hype.

According to a member of the Broadway World message board, who was there for the presentation, "everything I've seen from BATB looks stunning, including Emma in the dress." ("The dress" being the famous gold frock that Belle wears during her romantic dance with the Beast in the latter half of the film.) The commenter continued:

The crowds went wild for it. The set, visuals, costumes, etc. were beautiful. No footage of the objects or the beast.

Another eyewitness report, from TooFab, offers even more details about the footage, and the film in general:

Though nearly done filming, there wasn't any complete footage shown from this one -- save for a shot of Emma Watson as Belle in her now infamous gold dress, coming down the stairs to dance with the Beast. Let us just say that she looked GORGEOUS and seeing that moment brought to life brings chills.

In some behind-the-scenes footage shown, we got a look at the village set, which looks almost exactly like it did in the animated film. Belle is seen in her blue and white dress as well, while Gaston (Luke Evans) can be seen singing and dancing around a bar in his famous red costume and long ponytail. Sorry, nothing with the Beast in it just yet.

The crowd was told that the final film will include two new songs from Alan Menken.

It's great knowing that filmmakers are so closely incorporating the look of the 1991 original, in everything from the sets to the costumes (anyone else just dying to see that gold dress already?). And Alan Menken's involvement will almost certainly guarantee that "Beauty" earns a Best Original Song nomination at the Academy Awards, too.

We'd love to see the D23 stuff for ourselves, but if we have to wait, it's comforting to know that it will be well worth it.

"Beauty and the Beast" is due in theaters on March 17, 2017.

'Haven' Canceled By Syfy After Five Seasons

Posted:

HavenSyfy is canceling the supernatural drama "Haven" after five season, according to The Wrap. The show will conclude with the 13-episode second half of season 5, debuting this October.

"Haven" stars Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, and Eric Balfour, who have to deal with a series of supernatural afflictions called "The Troubles" that affect the people of a small Maine town.

Showrunner Gabrielle Stanton pledged that the final episodes would provide closure for fans of the show - even though the cancellation was unknown when they were written.

"I'm sure as a fellow TV fan, there's nothing more annoying than when a show kind of feels like it might be wrapping up, but they just don't address it, they don't come to any kind of satisfying conclusion," she told The Wrap.

"I always think that's cheating the audience a little bit, of a nice satisfying ending. So we really looked at these 13 episodes as if ... If we were indeed going to end, what would be the best ending we could possibly do for Haven?"

The final season of "Haven" premieres October 8 on Syfy.

14 Actors Who Forgot to Age

Posted:

Staying beautiful is a full-time job in Hollywood, and, for some, it just comes way too easy. Honestly, we're convinced that they're all either vampires or have discovered the fountain of youth. Bianca Lawson has been playing a teenager since 1993 -- getting younger every year -- and we need some kind of explanation!

So, without further ado, here are 14 actors who will probably look the same age forever.

James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe Create a Monster in 'Victor Frankenstein' Trailer

Posted:

"It's alive!" Daniel Radcliffe exclaims of the monster he and James McAvoy have created in "Victor Frankenstein."

"Yes, that's rather obvious," a bloodied McAvoy deadpans. Now how do they get rid of it?

The first trailer for the movie was released today, and the story will be familiar to pretty much everyone: Scientist Victor (McAvoy) and his faithful assistant, Igor (Radcliffe), use human body parts to engineer a live being - to horrific results.

Watch the trailer.

The story's outline doesn't deviate too much from Mary Shelley's classic tale; it's the tone that gets a 21st century update. The trailer has the feel of "Sherlock Holmes" - witty, zany, madcap adventure with a bromance at the heart of it. Certainly, McAvoy and Radcliffe exhibit the same kind of easy chemistry of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

"Victor Frankenstein" opens in theaters November 25.

First Look at Chris Hemsworth in Costume For New 'Ghostbusters' Movie

Posted:

Premiere Of Warner Bros. Looks like Chris Hemsworth will be doing more than answering phones in the new "Ghostbusters" movie!

The first photos of the actor on the Boston set of Paul Feig's reboot have emerged, and show Hemsworth in a ghostbusting suit on a motorbike. And he's looking, dare we say, a little goofy?

That could be another good sign for the comedy value of the movie, which already stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as the titular "Ghostbusters." Hemsworth plays their secretary, Kevin, but already looks much more active in his bosses' business than Annie Potts was in the original.

We're a little surprised Feig himself didn't release the first pic of Hemsworth in uniform. He's been active on Twitter in promoting teases of the film, from the first image of the four women in costume to their character names to the new proton pack.

The new "Ghostbusters" is set for release on July 22, 2016.

13 Times 'Dirty Dancing' Was the Best Movie of 1987

Posted:

What would the world be without "Dirty Dancing"? A horrible, wonder-less, impossibly unromantic place, probably.

There's an endlessly memorable array of reasons to love the Patrick Swayze / Jennifer Grey 1987 classic, which more than likely had a positive -- if not profound -- impact on your childhood and/or adolescence. So let's revisit the Catskills and take a tour of some of the movie's most iconic quotes, dancing-est moments, and downright unforgettable looks of longing. Just remember not to put Baby in a corner; Johnny Castle hates that.

Best of Late Night TV: Patrick Stewart Kisses Conan, Josh Groban Sings Trump Tweets, Zac Efron's Egg Russian Roulette

Posted:

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

This is how to start your day. Sir Patrick Stewart loves a good male kiss -- and why not? -- so he shared the wealth with Conan O'Brien. Sir Patrick was on "Conan" and talked about his lip-lock with good friend Sir Ian McKellen. Patrick explained that he's not a one-man kisser, and he doesn't just kiss other "sirs" -- although he said he might give a bit of tongue to Sir Sean Connery. (Go for it!) Sir Patrick said he doesn't go around smooching strangers, but he was happy to try K-I-S-S-I-N-G Conan. So they had their own quick, passionate lock complete with little floating hearts. Beautiful! Conan was left dumbstruck. They decided more heterosexual men should kiss each other like this.

They say egg is good for your hair, so Zac Efron just helped his hair game Monday night on "The Tonight Show." Zac and Jimmy Fallon played a classic game of Egg Russian Roulette and it got even messier for Jimmy.

Halle Berry brought her own interesting hair game -- and a very sexy, Catwoman-esque outfit -- to "Jimmy Kimmel Live." The "Extant" star talked about life on other planets, saxophones as the sexiest instrument, her bra, and Jimmy's new beard. (Jimmy's new beard does look pretty hot, but nowhere near as hot as Halle. Is she really human? Have we checked?)
Because Donald Trump must always be the center of everything, Josh Groban sang Donald Trump tweets on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." You may recall when Josh sang Kanye West's tweets.
Bill Hader was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and talked about getting stoned with the cast of "Trainwreck" when they were in Amsterdam. Because of course! Bill said he doesn't smoke pot too often and Seth Rogen said it was like smoking pot with his dad. (You have to watch the video just for Bill's awesome Seth Rogen impression.) Apparently they lost Vanessa Bayer while in Amsterdam, and she showed up for a studio cameo -- toting luggage -- as if she just arrived.
Lake Bell, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Little Mix were on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" and James talked to Little Mix about performing with Taylor Swift. James also asked Perrie Edwards how she's holding up after her breakup with Zayn Malik. She said "I'm good. Absolute blast in America. Things are going so well." She said she wakes up every day and thanks her lucky stars she has those three girls. The group also performed "Back Magic."
