China Built an Iron Man Robot To Send To Space Posted: 09 Nov 2015 06:00 PM PST If Hollywood science fiction movies have taught us anything, it's that you can't have a proper spaceship adventure without an autonomous robot mixed in with the crew. (The surprising caveat to this rule being The Martian, which is weirdly robot-free.) It doesn't matter if they're used for logic so cold and hard that it's evil (2001: A Space Odyssey), for acts of heroism (Interstellar) or for simple companionship (Moon), you've got to send a bot up to space if you want to be taken seriously. As we all know China is quickly becoming one of the biggest movie markets on the planet, so naturally it's no surprise that they've taken this lesson from sci-fi movies to heart and have built an actual humanoid robot they can send in to space. What is a bit... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Chloe Grace Moretz Set As 'The Little Mermaid'; Here's What We Know Posted: 09 Nov 2015 04:30 PM PST Chloe Grace Moretz will star in a live-action version of The Little Mermaid, based on the fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. Veteran Richard Curtis (Love, Actually) is in talks to write a new version of the screenplay, according to Variety. At this point, it's not known what Curtis might have in mind to freshen up the story, which followed a mermaid who develops a desire to live on land after she saves a handsome prince from drowning. First published in the 1837, the story has been frequently adapted in the past 100 years or so in a variety of media, from an opera to a symphonic poem to various television shows and films, most notably in Disney's 1989 loosely-adapted animated classic, which proved immensely popular. The current version has been in... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The One Thing J.J. Abrams Wanted to Get Right with 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Posted: 09 Nov 2015 02:00 PM PST In a new interview with Wired, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams talks about piecing together one of the biggest sequels ever made, as well as the pressures and luxuries of building upon a mythology that's not only established, but ridiculously celebrated worldwide. And the surprising key to it all, according to Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, who helped shape the story alongside Abrams? That it be "delightful". "“How do we make this movie delightful?” That was really the only requirement Larry and I imposed on each other: The movie needed to be delightful," Abrams tells Wired. "It was not about explaining everything away, not about introducing a certain number of toys for a corporation, not about trying to...
