Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of 'Home Alone' With a Pizza from Little Nero's Posted: 06 Nov 2015 09:30 PM PST What does Home Alone have in common with Back to the Future? Aside from it being released the same year as Back to the Future Part III, not a whole lot, but the classic 1990 family comedy is celebrating its latest big anniversary in a way similar to that of the time-travel blockbuster. No, there's no Home Alone day where we honor the movie based around the exact day Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin) was forgotten by his parents. However, there is similarly a tribute to a fictional product, which you can now own for real. Where the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future has brought us real hoverboards, self-lacing Nike sneakers and Pepsi Perfect, the 25th anniversary of Home Alone brings us Little Nero's Pizza. That'd be the blatant Little Caesars... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The Last Sci-Fi Blog: 5 Reasons to Love Duncan Jones' 'Moon' Posted: 06 Nov 2015 08:00 PM PST It was revealed this week that Duncan Jones' Mute is finally, officially coming together. Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd joined the cast and everything. This sci-fi noir, which Jones has been talking up for over five years now, is actually going to be a movie that we can watch and not just a cool idea. And while Mute will be a standalone movie, it will be the spiritual successor to Moon, Jones' 2009 breakout film that established him as a talent to watch. Although they have unconnected stories, both films take place in the same futuristic universe. And Moon is great. Really great. "One of the best science fiction movies of the past decade" great. The story of the sole employee on a lunar mining colony finding something that rattles him to his core, it's... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 06 Nov 2015 07:00 PM PST Activision Blizzard is one of the largest video game companies in the world. They're the home of Call of Duty, Skylanders, Hearthstone, Diablo, StarCraft, Warcraft, Overwatch and countless more hit titles. Just earlier this week they announced they were buying King Digital Entertainment, makers of Candy Crush, for $5.9 billion. To put that craziness into perspective, that's $1.9 billion more than Disney paid to buy Lucasfilm and Star Wars. To put it mildly, video games are a big, big business and Activision Blizzard is a big, big deal. They've conquered the living room market, they now want to conquer movie screens, too. They've just announced the creation of Activision Blizzard Studios, a new division within the company that will exist solely to create... Watch: Here's Your First Action-Packed Trailer for the New 'Warcraft' Movie Posted: 06 Nov 2015 04:32 PM PST The fantastical world of Warcraft has already enjoyed great success with video games, books, and all sorts of nerdy entertainment -- but now it's ready for the big screen. And if this first look at the upcoming film -- due out this summer -- is any indication, we're in for a wild ride. Check it out. Definitely getting a Lord of the Rings vibe with this film, and that's a good thing because we could use another fantasy franchise to champion. Orcs, humans, beasts, kingdoms... dark, gritty dialogue that slowly builds to a visual feast for the eyes. Oh, we like! The Hobbit movies are done -- and fans in general are pretty much done with stories set in Middle-earth -- and so there's room for Warcraft to slip in here and serve up something pretty... Comics on Film: Could We See Miles Morales' Ultimate Spider-Man On the Big Screen? Posted: 06 Nov 2015 04:30 PM PST Marvel Comics recently solicited a new series simply called Spider-Man with a 1st issue set to drop in February of 2016. This isn’t the first number-one issue that this version of the webhead has headlined, either: after a very popular introduction a few years ago and having survived the publisher’s latest cataclysmic crossover event, writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli are bringing the young Miles Morales into the Marvel Universe-proper. Back in 2011, Miles made headlines by becoming a new version of Spider-Man with a different background, effectively replacing Peter Parker in one of the publisher’s then-ongoing parallel universes. His popularity has seen him show up in other media beyond comics as well, including video games and... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Wish Granted: A Terminal Cancer Patient Screens 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Early Posted: 06 Nov 2015 02:30 PM PST UPDATE; Ever since the story of Daniel Fleetwood -- a huge Star Wars fan and terminally ill cancer patient who desparately wanted to watch The Force Awakens before he passed away -- began to spread, it was only a matter of time before director J.J. Abrams responded. And that he did... by granting Daniel's wish and allowing him to screen an unedited version of the film early. Here is a message his wife Ashley posted on Facebook. And here's what Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, had to say after he heard the news. I just read this and am elated for Daniel & his family! Thanks to the powers-that-be for making his dream come true. https://t.co/ImiAdyBxf8 — Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) November 5, 2015 Catch up on the... Watch Daniel Craig Tease His Possible Return as James Bond Posted: 06 Nov 2015 02:00 PM PST In the midst of his publicity rounds for SPECTRE, actor Daniel Craig was asked if he'd be making another James Bond movie, and his response -- that he'd rather "break this glass and slash my wrists" -- prompted many to conclude that he was quitting the franchise. During an appearance on The Today Show on Thursday, however, Craig was happy to place his comments in context. "If you're 200 hundred yards from the end of a marathon and someone comes running up to you and says, 'Are you gonna run another marathon?' there's two words you use," he explained. "And not on a morning show!" Putting things further into perspective, SPECTRE marks Craig's fourth appearance as James Bond. So that means he's also survived four...
