Noomi Rapace to Play Amy Winehouse in a Biopic

Posted: 05 Nov 2015 08:30 PM PST

Every music icon whose life ended in tragedy is obligated to receive a biopic, so it's not surprising to learn that there's an Amy Winehouse movie in the works. What might be a bit surprising is who they're casting in the role.  According to Screen Daily, Subotica Films, which previously produced the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side, is in talks with Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) to portray the Grammy-winning singer. Interestingly, Rapace is about to turn 36, while Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning at age 27. It's not too uncommon for biopics to cast actors of inauthentic ages. At 45, Kevin Spacey played Bobby Darin, who died at age 35, in Beyond the Sea. And until a lawsuit halted its development, a Janis Joplin biopic was set to...

New 'London Has Fallen' Trailer Is Ridiculous In All the Right Ways

Posted: 05 Nov 2015 05:00 PM PST

A few months ago we got a teaser trailer for Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen that was basically explosions and gunshots and that oddly never showed off Aaron Eckhart or Gerard Butler, who are respectively returning as the President of the United States and his kill-everyone secret service agent. Today we got a new trailer for the movie which puts those explosions and gunshots in to context, and wow. This may be an early contender for most ridiculous action movie of 2016 that we can't wait to see. Here's the setup: Leaders of the world's most powerful nations are all gathering in London for a summit. Terrorists take advantage of this, laying siege to the entire city in the hope that they can capture these leaders and use them as bargaining chips. In...

Posted: 05 Nov 2015 03:30 PM PST

Update 11/5/15: There's a new trailer out for The Hateful Eight, which isn't packed with spoilers or new information, just another look at all the style and scope Tarantino promises to deliver come this Christmas.   Previously: This Christmas we'll be getting two gorgeously photographed movies about men fighting for their own survival deep in the snow-covered wilderness. One is the very serious The Revenant, about a man who seeks revenge after being left for dead. The other is the less-serious The Hateful Eight, about a bunch of bounty hunters all teetering on the edge of chaos when they get stuck in the same lodge together. It's basically the Deep Impact and Armageddon of our time. The first trailer for Quentin Tarantino's eighth film has just popped...
