A Brief Cinematic History of Mankind Coexisting with Dinosaurs Posted: 27 Nov 2015 07:30 PM PST Mankind's history with dinosaurs has been long and difficult. Ever since that asteroid narrowly missed the earth and spared the lives of every prehistoric creature, we have had to find a way to share the planet with these animals. We have had good centuries and we have had bad centuries. The new film, The Good Dinosaur, is a historically and scientifically accurate approximation of the early days between humans and our dino brethren. Based on new research that suggests that we didn't always want to kill and destroy one another, this film is a valuable document in the ongoing study of how we can be at peace with these beautiful, and deadly creatures. Along the way, cinema has been a helpful guide in charting out relationship with the dinosaur population. One Million... The Last Horror Blog: The Genre Goods We're Thankful for This Year Posted: 27 Nov 2015 04:30 PM PST Thanksgiving – the time of year when Americans sit down and stuff themselves (more than normal…) while ruminating on all the things we have to be thankful for. It’s not exactly a holiday that lends itself to horror cinema (we had that with Halloween a few weeks back), but no one said we can’t be thankful for things related to our favorite genre. So, with that in mind, here are some things fright fans might want to be thankful for his week. Scream Factory Shout Factory’s horror division is cranking out some great Blu-ray releases for classic (and some not so classic…) horror films. The discs are all high quality, loaded with extras, and clearly assembled by people who have a love for the source material. From rarely seen cult... Remember When... The Crying Game Did the Impossible By Keeping Its Secret a Secret? Posted: 27 Nov 2015 03:00 PM PST The Crying Game was a hit with critics and at the box office in the early 1990s, and it would probably be just as acclaimed if it came out today. It has a forward-thinking take on gender, sexuality, and race that would do well in the current social climate -- probably better than it did at Thanksgiving 1992, in fact, when the film was released in the U.S. But a 2015 version of The Crying Game probably wouldn't make as much money as the 1992 one did. Why? Because in 2015, there's no way its famous secret would remain a secret for very long. The Internet has seen to that. People would find out, either accidentally or on purpose, and the number of tickets sold to curious patrons who just wanted to find out what all the whispering was about would thus be drastically... Latest 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Extended TV Spot Shines a Spolight on an Evil Character Posted: 27 Nov 2015 01:30 PM PST We only have to wait three more weeks before Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally lands in theaters on December 18, which means we're rapidly approaching a point when we all lose our minds with excitement. That hasn't happened yet, though, so as we head into the weekend, we have one more television spot to share. It's an extended spot that looks quite dark, putting the spotlight on Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). We know he's a villainous character, so it's appropriate that he begins here by having an unpleaant encounter with expert pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), followed by snippets in which he wields his crossguard lightsaber in a menacing manner toward our heroes; note that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is visibly shaking. "You don't know what I've... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Miller and Ed Skrein also star; the movie opens in theaters on February 12. [Twitter] Project Delirium: Jennifer Lawrence, who has been doing battle as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games movies (above), will take on a new challenge. She will direct her first feature, a comedy titled Project Delirium, based on an article in The New Yorker about doctors experimenting on soldiers during the Cold War. “I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act," she said...
