Will Smith Thinks 'There Might Be a Future' for Him in Politics Posted: Will Smith has already conquered Hollywood. Washington, D.C. might be next. On the Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, Smith talked about how the character he plays in his upcoming movie "Concussion" made a real difference in the world. Dr. Bennet Omalu took on the National Football League for covering up concerns that concussions could have long-term negative effets on players. And Smith wants to do make a difference, too — perhaps by getting into politics. "I think that that's what my grandmother always hoped, that I would make myself useful to people in this lifetime," he said, adding, "And, you know, as I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me. They might need me out there. This is the first year that I've been incensed to a level that I can't sleep, you know?" Years ago, Smith joked about wanting to become the first black president. Too late for that, but there's always second, Will! Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. %Slideshow-180100% This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'The Force Awakens' Becomes Second 'Star Wars' Movie to Get PG-13 Rating Posted: Parents, you must guide your young padawans into using The Force wisely. "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" was given a rating of PG-13 for "sci-fi action violence." Five of the previous six "Episodes" had ratings of PG -- although they were also noted to have "sci-fi action violence" and in some cases "brief mild language." Only "Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," which came out in 2005, was also give a PG-13 rating, for "sci-fi violence and some intense images." PG-13 wasn't even a thing until 1984, with "Red Dawn" as the first movie with that rating from the MPAA. That was after the original releases of "Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), "Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980), and "Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" (1983). Last year, Forbes wrote a whole piece titled "Why 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Should Be Rated PG," but apparently their arguments were not strong enough. It may not make parents happy, but a PG-13 rating shouldn't hurt the movie at the box office. As Entertainment Weekly noted, "Revenge of the Sith" grossed $380 million, which was $70 million more than its PG-rated predecessor, "Attack of the Clones." Plus, they noted, the top five movies in box-office history are all rated PG-13: "Avatar," "Titanic," "Jurassic World," "The Avengers," and "The Dark Knight." Are you surprised/disappointed/glad/apathetic about the PG-13 rating for "The Force Awakens"? Want more stuff like this? The 2015 'National Dog Show' Will Introduce These Seven New Breeds Posted: Everyone has his or her holiday traditions and, from here, Thanksgiving would not be the same without "The National Dog Show Presented By Purina." It airs Thursday at noon on NBC, right after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Bergamasco -- shown above in an AKC photo -- looks like one of those lovable "mop" dogs, kind of like the Puli or the Komondor. (The photo at the top is from the 2008 show, not of a new breed; that's adorable Noodles the Basset Hound, when he won the Hound Group.) Ben Affleck: There's 'a Ton of Pressure' on 'Batman v Superman' to Do Well Posted: Every movie wants to find an audience, but big-budget movies with franchise ties and huge future plans really NEED to find an audience. A massive audience. And that audience has to like the movie enough to want to come back for sequels and tie-ins. It's currently working for Marvel's "Avengers" but what about DC? "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" comes out next year, as a follow-up to the meh-ly received "Man of Steel," and it will be followed itself by "Suicide Squad," "Wonder Woman," "Aquaman," "The Flash," a two-part "Justice League" movie, and more. Ben Affleck is the new Batman in "Batman v Superman" and he knows a lot of eyes will be on him and the movie, especially since it's meant to include more of his Caped Crusader than Henry Cavill's Man of Steel. "I think there is a ton of pressure on it," Ben Affleck admitted to Variety. "I mean I would be bulls—ting you to say there isn't." Warner Bros. may not have had the strongest 2015, but Affleck is confident the studio will see a turnaround in 2016, which includes the releases of both "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad." As Affleck put it, "You'll see next year they are going to have a great year. They are now developing ... probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it's going to be massive." However, Affleck knows that results have to come pretty much immediately nowadays -- in a huge opening weekend -- or there's potential for the whole thing to be tarred as a failure. "We are a very kind of instant gratification culture when it comes to analyzing the film business," he told Variety. "And there is a lot of hyperbole involved. Nonetheless, there's a lot of pressure on it. If it doesn't do well, that will be extremely disappointing." What defines "well"? That may have to be determined next year, since blockbusters can still have massive openings (like the final "Hunger Games" movie) and get bad headlines because they didn't open as well as other films. A lot of people are rooting for "Batman v Superman" to succeed, but there are some out there expecting and maybe even wanting it to fail. What are your hopes and expectations? 11 Unforgettable Movies Featuring Transgender Characters Posted: %Slideshow-342737% Will last winter's Oscar-winning Best Actor Eddie Redmayne earn a return trip to the podium for his starring role in "The Danish Girl?" It's certainly possible. After all, playing a transgender character, especially one based on a real person, often impresses the Academy, as the gallery here shows. For a long time, transgender characters made easily caricatured villains in movies, from "Silence of the Lambs" to "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." But now, with Laverne Cox making waves on "Orange Is the New Black," and Jeffrey Tambor winning an Emmy for his starring role on "Transparent," we seem to be having a moment where audiences are ready to watch transgender characters in a more open-minded way. The movies on this list are a good place to start. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
What Happens in 'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Episode 8 Midseason Finale? Posted: All life is precious, but don't expect all lives to make it through "The Walking Dead" Season 6's herd attack on Alexandria. That poopstorm starts this Sunday, November 29 in Episode 8, "Start to Finish," the big midseason finale and final episode of 2015. The magic happens a few days after Thanksgiving, but it's clear hundreds, maybe thousands, of walkers are ready to eat Alexandria's leftovers.

Bindi Irwin Reveals Where She'll Keep Her 'DWTS' Trophy, and It's Perfect Posted: Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough just won "Dancing With the Stars" Season 21! But never mind Disneyland, the 17-year-old Aussie can't wait to go back to hanging out with snakes and rhinos at the Australia Zoo. Bindi, daughter of late "The Crocodile Hunter" star Steve Irwin, is on a media blitz after her big win in last night's finale. Entertainment Tonight asked her where she plans to keep her Mirror Ball trophy. Bindi answered, "We were talking about this actually, and Derek had a good idea." Derek said, "I think it should go in the middle of the zoo, in the crocodile chamber..." Bindi said they call it the "croc pot" and she thinks it would work perfectly. Many fans want to know what's next for Bindi, and after the overwhelming response to her DWTS run ET asked about the offers she's received. Is she going to do something in Hollywood or go back to Australia? Bindi stayed coy on the next project details, but said, "I'm really excited because I would love to continue to spread my message on many different platforms. I'm excited to see what's yet to come for my future. But home will always be Australia. And honestly, I can't wait to get back to all of my animals and to just lay under the trees with my snakes and my rhinos. It'll be so nice!" That's so Bindi! She said there are a few different things that she'd love to be a part of but she wasn't committing to anything, or willing to announce anything, at this point. Do you think she'll be part of Derek and Julianne Hough's 2016 summer dance tour, at the very least? Want more stuff like this? Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" had a mini meeting of The Handsome Men's Club Tuesday night to talk about "Captain America: Civil War" and show off that brand spankin' new trailer. (Watch it again. It's epic.) Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. also talked about their real-life friendship and how RDJ had all of his furniture moved to Atlanta for filming so his cats could sit in the chair they like. (Real men love cats. #fact) RDJ was also inducted into the California Hall of Fame. Every state should invent a Hall of Fame and induct RDJ, just so he'll show up and be charming. Krysten Ritter continued JKL's Marvel theme, explaining her "Jessica Jones" powers and weighing in on spoilers. Speaking of "Jessica Jones," here is the PERFECTION of David Tennant telling Seth Meyers about his villainous Marvel role, arguing that most villains don't consider themselves villains. "Donald Trump doesn't think he's a villain." Haha. This is funny, unintentionally, but still. Gina Rodriguez and Roseanne Barr were on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" and Gina showed off her boxing skills. She had a demo with Corden and accidentally punched him in the face. Kinda. She punched his hand and it slapped him back so, technically, he punched his own face. Watch out for that left jab! Justin Bieber was supposed to be on "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" but he canceled. Yes, Justin, it IS too late now to say sorry. But whatever, 'cause it probably gave Spike Lee more time to get into more serious issues, like Chicago violence, gun control and sex strikes, related to his film "Chi-Raq." Over on "The Tonight Show," Tim Allen talked about "Home Improvement" as his first acting job. The beautiful Danai Gurira, Michonne on "The Walking Dead," talked about being born in Iowa then moving to Zimbabwe as a child. She said the Christmas traditions were very similar, but she added her own touches. Jimmy showed off a photo. Adele was a guest on "The Tonight Show" on Monday, but on Tuesday they also showed this awesome video of Jimmy, Adele, and The Roots singing "Hello": Want more stuff like this? Here's the First 'Captain America: Civil War' Trailer, Plus a New Poster Posted: Happy Thanksgiving from Marvel, everybody! Last night, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. were guests on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (which airs on ABC, part of the ABC/Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm family) and chatted about making "Captain America: Civil War," which comes out this May. But like the wise men for Christmas, they came bearing gifts. First, RDJ revealed the movie's official one-sheet poster:
"Captain America: Civil War" will be released on May 6, 2016. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
