Quiz: Did Shailene Woodley Say This?

Posted:

Shailene Woodley says the darndest things. And God bless her because we love her for it.

While most celebrities use interviews as an opportunity to flex their media training -- AKA publicist-approved responses -- Woodley prefers to say whatever is on her mind. That includes everything from her thoughts on nature (she loves it!) to the benefits of Vitamin D on one's vagina.

If you think you can spot a Shailene Woodley gem from a mile away, prove it and take this quiz!

J.J. Abrams Spills More Details on Villains of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Posted:

Star Wars Force Awakens"Star Wars" mania continues unabated, with Entertainment Weekly dropping even more details about "The Force Awakens" from their recent issue.

J.J. Abrams got very candid about the villains of the movie - Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). According to the director, though Kylo Ren and General Hux are on the same side, they might not be the closest of allies.

"[Hux is] kind of opposite Kylo Ren. They have their own relationship, which is individual and unusual. One of them is strong in different ways than the other," Abrams revealed. "They're both vying for power."

Power is a big theme in the First Order, the heir to the Republic of old. "The desire for power is hugely motivating for a lot of people and normally the people who want all the power are not the ones who should have it."

That should be chilling to Leia (Carrie Fisher) and the rebels, since the First Order has an extremely deadly weapon in its hands - the Starkiller Base.

"It is very much - and it's acknowledged as such in the movie - apparently another Death Star," Abrams said. "But what it's capable of, how it works, and what the threat is, is far greater than what the Death Star could have done. Starkiller Base is another step forward, technologically speaking, in terms of power."

Let's hope the Force is strong in the good guys!

'Breaking Bad' Props Are Headed to the Smithsonian, Bitch

Posted:

breaking bad, breaking bad props, smithsonian, heisenberg, walter whiteHeisenberg will live again, thanks to a big donation from the "Breaking Bad" folks to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.

The museum announced this week that Sony Pictures TV had donated 10 props from the series to the Smithsonian's permanent collection, and some or all of them will go on display during an upcoming special cultural exhibit set to debut in the next few years. Iconic items from the show that are now part of American history include: Walt's (Bryan Cranston) Heisenberg hat; packets of (fake) blue meth; the gas masks and hazmat suits worn by Jesse (Aaron Paul) and Walt in the lab; Hank's (Dean Norris) DEA ID badge; a matchbook advertising Saul Goodman's (Bob Odenkirk) services; and cups from Los Pollos Hermanos.

According to Smithsonian curator Dwight Blocker Bowers, there were several reasons behind the decision to select items from "Breaking Bad" -- and other television shows -- to display. He said:

Series television has always interpreted the landscape of the American dream. From the happy, escapist vision of dramas like 'Lassie' to situation comedies like 'Happy Days,' to name but two of the shows with artifacts in the national collection. But the pioneering 'Breaking Bad' explores the ambivalence of the contemporary American dream, where good an evil intermix and there are no moral absolutes. In its story created by Vince Gilligan, it tells a dark tale of Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal cancer and, with a student as his partner, starts making methamphetamine to ensure his family with financial security.

The "Breaking Bad" items are expected to go on display sometime in 2018.

Shonda Rhimes Admits She Killed Off a Character Because She Disliked the Actor

Posted:

Celebration Of ABC's TGIT Line-up Presented By Toyota And Co-hosted By ABC And Time Inc.'s Entertainment Weekly, Essence And PeoShonda Rhimes wields a lot of power over her Shondaland empire, and that apparently extends to killing off characters for personal reasons.

During an appearance on "The Nightly Show" this week, Rhimes confessed to host Larry Wilmore that she's axed an actor simply because she didn't care for him (or her) -- but she's not telling who it is. The admission came during the regular "Nightly Show" segment "Keep It 100," when Wilmore asked Rhimes point blank if she'd "ever killed off a character because you didn't like the actor."

Rhimes, who smiled and laughed as Wilmore's question unfurled -- including urging the showrunner to reveal the person's identity -- eventually gave a short, decisive answer.

"Yes," Rhimes replied, "and I'm not naming names."

Of course, that hasn't stopped everyone from guessing just who the showrunner is referring to. Popular opinion suggests it's Patrick Dempsey, who reportedly was fired from "Grey's Anatomy" for diva-ish behavior, leading to his character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, getting killed off in a shocking episode near the end of season 11.

But there are plenty of other choices, too. "Scandal" stars Columbus Short and Dan Bucatinsky had memorable deaths, as did Derek's fellow "Grey's" doctors Mark "McSteamy" Sloan (Eric Dane), George (T.R. Knight), and Lexie (Chyler Leigh). (After all, Rhimes didn't say it was definitively a male character.)

The world may never know for sure (but we're pretty sure it's Dempsey). Rhimes walked away with both a "I Kept it 100" sticker and some weak tea from Wilmore for her pseudo-confession; we're hoping she'll turn in the tea someday and really spill the beans.

Doug Liman May Step in to Direct Channing Tatum's 'Gambit'

Posted:

Channing Tatum has been interested in making "X-Men" spinoff "Gambit" for years, but apparently, not everyone in Hollywood shares his vision. The flick had a hard time securing a director, and when it finally did, he bailed on the job. Now, it appears that a replacement has been selected.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Doug Liman is the new top choice for the directing gig, and is currently in final negotiations to take over from the recently-departed Rupert Wyatt. Liman has plenty of experience in the action genre, helming 2014's "Edge of Tomorrow" and past hits including "The Bourne Identity" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

While THR notes that those latter two films had trouble-laden shoots, both were big hits with critics and audiences alike. And according to the trade, Liman reportedly has a close relationship with "Gambit" producer Simon Kinberg, who will help steer the proceedings.

It's basically do or die at this point for "Gambit," which has a late 2016 release date looming. Wyatt said he left the project over scheduling issues, but THR reports that he really had creative differences with the studio. Here's hoping Liman doesn't have any such issues, otherwise this mutant might have to be put down.

"Gambit" is due in theaters -- for now -- on October 7, 2016.

'NCIS' Star Pauley Perrette 'Almost Died' After Homeless Man Attack

Posted:

46th Anniversary Gala Vanguard Awards - Arrivals"NCIS" star Pauley Perrette has detailed a horrific attack that she says was carried out by a "psychotic homeless man," writing on Twitter that she "almost died" after the alleged assault.

Perrette wrote a missive that she posted in the wee hours of Friday about an attack she says happened on Thursday night in Hollywood. The actress was walking to a guest house that she owns when she was "jumped by a VERY psychotic homeless man" who she says launched a brutal, unrelenting assault on her, with multiple threats to end her life.

"He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose, forehead repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me," Perrette wrote of the attack.

It was some quick thinking on the actress's part that ultimately saved her, she said: The attacker identified himself as William, and Perrette said she had a nephew of the same name. After a few more punches, the man ordered her to flee, Perrette wrote.

The actress said she quickly drew up a police sketch of the man and contacted a friend who works in law enforcement; another friend tracked down the attacker, and the police soon arrested him, charging him with felony assault. Perrette wrote that she felt "shaken and traumatized" by the incident, adding, "My life changed tonight." She also called for better help and care for the homeless -- including mental health counseling and shelter services -- as well as more support for police.

"I almost died tonight," Perrette wrote.

Read her entire account of the chilling incident below.

19 Red-Hot Celebrity Couples Who Met on Set

Posted:

If there's one thing we love more than watching a movie starring two hot leads, it's watching a movie starring two hot leads who are totally dating IRL. It's like that old saying: "if the on-camera chemistry between two actors is electric, they're probably a couple." What? That's not a saying? Agree to disagree.

While some of these couples have since crashed and burned, others are still going strong. From Brangelina to Blyan (Blake + Ryan, duh), here are 19 hot celebrity couples who met on set.

'Home Alone' Stars: Where Are They Now?

Posted:

"Home Alone" is an odd movie -- half gooey holiday sentiment, half slapstick-cartoon sadism.

Still, upon its release 25 years ago (on November 16, 1990), it became an instant Christmastime favorite. It also made Macaulay Culkin one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood history, while also becoming both the all-time top-grossing live-action comedy and top-grossing Christmas movie.

You'd think all that success would have ensured career longevity for everyone involved, but not so. Here's what's become of the cast of "Home Alone" since little Kevin first fought off the Wet Bandits after his family forgot to take him along to Paris.

The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Sequels Will Shoot Back-to-Back

Posted:

Stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are in for some rough filming: According to a new report, the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequels will shoot back-to-back.

TheWrap writes that James Foley ("Glengarry Glen Ross," "House of Cards"), who's been secured as a replacement director for the remainder of the series, has elected to shoot both sequels -- "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" -- at the same time, back-to-back. Production is scheduled to start sometime next year.

Foley is stepping in for the departed Sam Taylor-Johnson, who had a tough time helming "Grey," thanks to the alleged overbearing presence of author E.L. James, who reportedly fought Taylor-Johnson and producers for more creative control throughout the production. James allegedly sought even more say in the sequels, reportedly going so far as to demand to write the screenplays herself; while she lost that particular battle, her husband, Niall Leonard, has been tapped for the role instead, which should give James considerable leeway to insert her vision more directly into the follow-ups.

According to TheWrap, the plan is to release both "Shades" sequels around the Valentine's Day holiday, with "Fifty Shades Darker" due in theaters on February 10, 2017, and "Fifty Shades Freed" hitting cinemas on February 9, 2018. And whether or not there is behind-the-scenes drama, it seems studio Universal doesn't care: With "Grey" scoring a whopping $560 million at the worldwide box office -- not to mention the continued international success of the book series -- the sequels stand to make quite a bit of cash, too. We imagine audiences will still be whipped into a frenzy regardless of how the flicks are made.

11 Must-See Movies Starring Celebrity Couples

Posted:

Anyone expecting to get a glimpse into the real-life marriage of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt from their new movie, "By the Sea," is bound to be disappointed. And not just because it's about a squabbling couple who seem to bear little resemblance to the stars who (by all accounts) are still happy after 10 years and six kids together.

Rather, it's that film seldom captures the chemistry between actors who are a couple in real life. Or it captures something that isn't really there, at least not yet. That's why these 11 movies, which do seem to evoke on screen the real-life sparks that had already occurred off-camera, are so remarkable. Watch them with someone you love -- or used to.

Best of Late Night TV: Julia Roberts Meets 9 Other Julia Robertses, Daniel Radcliffe's 'Force Awakens' Plan

Posted:

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

Julia Roberts said there's no real point for her to be on a "press tour" since she can't say a word about her new movie "Secret in their Eyes." However, she did tell the story of the first time she was recognized -- and it happened in the bathroom of a movie theater, when the woman in another stall asked if she was in "Mystic Pizza" and pushed a pen and paper under the stall door. Jimmy also introduced Julia to nine other women named Julia Roberts. As you can imagine, they all have no trouble getting reservations when they call with that name. But one woman noted that, when she whips out her credit card, the clerks always wants her to verify her identity.
Elizabeth Banks was on "The Tonight Show" Thursday night, promoting the final "Hunger Games" movie and warning that it does differ from the books. But enough about that. She also revealed that her dad accidentally hit her with a loogie once (#StopItDad) and played a little game of Catchphrase with Jon Glaser, Jimmy Fallon, and Tim McGraw.
Here's Episode 3 of "Scandal High," the never-before-seen teen drama from Shonda Rhimes. Harry Potter can't wait to see the new Star Wars movie! Daniel Radcliffe, heavily promoting "Victor Frankenstein," was on "Conan" last night and here he is fanboying over "The Force Awakens." He's going to try to go to a midnight screening -- and he thinks he'll have to wear a costume. Conan said he should go dressed as Harry Potter. Dan wants to go as a Wookie but now that he's said that publicly, he's not sure. Melissa Benoist, Olivia Wilde, and Saoirse Ronan prettied up the "Late Late Show" couch and talked about superheroes and shared first apartment stories. Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! You've seen "American Horror Story," but how about "Canadian Horror Story"? It's pretty intense, eh? Sorry! Back on "The Tonight Show," Fallon read off some of his favorite tweets with the hashtag #StopItDad:
