Alexis Bledel & Vincent Kartheiser Are Expecting First Child: Report Posted: A new report suggests that there's going to be a new Gilmore Girl -- or little Mad Man -- coming into the world soon: Alexis Bledel is reportedly pregnant, expecting her first child with husband Vincent Kartheiser. According to Celebuzz, a source has revealed that Kartheiser is "trying to keep it quiet," but added that the actor is "very happy about the news." The site reports that the pair's baby news slipped out when friends were "seen congratulating Kartheiser at the world premiere of his new National Geographic Channel movie, 'Saints & Strangers,' in Los Angeles on Monday night." Bledel's rep did not respond to Celebuzz's request for comment. That's par for the course for the super-private couple, who met on the set of "Mad Men" more than three years ago. While their onscreen characters didn't exactly have a happy ending -- Bledel played a housewife who seduces Kartheiser's Pete Campbell, then winds up in a mental institution -- the pair hit it off offscreen, getting hitched in a secret ceremony in Los Angeles back in the summer of 2014. Congrats to the parents-to-be! (And maybe Bledel's pregnancy can be written in to the upcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival? Rory and Jess would make an adorable baby together, just saying.) 'Suicide Squad' Will Be Rated 'Right On the Edge of PG-13' Posted: R-rated movies are a bit of a tough sell in Hollywood, since they immediately limit the audience for a film. And while the dark, violent villains at the heart of "Suicide Squad" would certainly imply that that movie should score an R, producer Charles Roven has said that the flick will indeed stick to a PG-13 rating -- but just barely. In an interview with Collider, Roven said that the PG-13 rating was the plan all along, and that a large part of the reasoning behind that is that it's in a shared DC Comics universe with flicks such as "Batman v Superman" and the upcoming "Justice League" films (and standalone spinoffs). "We really want to make these films tonally consistent," Roven explained, though he added the caveat that an R is not entirely out of the question in the future. " ... [W]e're not dealing in absolutes because while this is business it's also a creative endeavor, so you want to leave yourself open to changing your mind, doing something different, being inspired," the producer told Collider, continuing, "that's the whole process of filmmaking is you have to allow for inspiration as well as having a road map for what you're gonna do." But fans who may be let down by the current PG-13 plan should take heart: There are still plenty of possibilities to be bold, even with a less-restrictive rating. " ... [O]ur plan right now is to make all these films PG-13. In some cases, you know, right there on the edge of PG-13," Roven said. Based on everything we've seen from "Suicide Squad" so far, we believe it. The flick is due in theaters on August 5, 2016. Julia Roberts Loved Jennifer Lawrence's Wage Gap Essay, Too Posted: Lots of famous folks have been throwing their support behind Jennifer Lawrence after the actress penned a scathing essay condemning Hollywood's gender-based wage gap. Now, a fellow Oscar winner -- and previous America's Sweetheart title-holder -- is also chiming in with her approval. In an interview with "Good Morning America," Julia Roberts said she completely agreed with Lawrence's thoughts on the issue -- and said she respected the young actress for speaking up. "I applaud her. She's a young, fabulous, talented whippersnapper and I love that she's stirring things up," Roberts told "GMA." And the lovefest didn't stop there. " ... [S]he's so energetic and seems to speak her mind and I think it's great. I think it's great to kind of shake things up," the actress added. "I think it's great to go, 'Excuse me. Over here. I know something now and I'm frustrated by it and why is this?'" Like Lawrence is now, Roberts is famous in part for commanding a $20 million-per-movie paycheck, and we're glad to see the trailblazer acknowledge those who are following in her footsteps -- and encourage more change in the seemingly-stagnant world of Hollywood gender equality. It's also heartening to know that even A-listers like Roberts are are #TeamJLaw; the stars really are just like us. 'Nashville' Star Clare Bowen Cut Her Hair for an Inspiring Reason Posted: "Nashville" fans were shocked when star Clare Bowen debuted a new pixie cut on Wednesday night's episode, shedding the waist-long locks that her character, Scarlett, had sported since season one. But according to Bowen, there was a significant reason behind the change that was inspired more by real life than by onscreen drama.

Tim Gunn: 'Project Runway Junior' Is the 'Antidote' to Hated Season 14 Posted: Whether Tim Gunn likes it or not, "Project Runway" Season 14 is not quite done. Tonight (Thursday, November 12) at 8 p.m., we'll see the reunion special, and hopefully Tim and Swapnil can come to some kind of detente. (And hopefully Swapnil, Kelly, and Edmond all return for "Project Runway All Stars" in 2016.) We didn't mind Season 14 as much as Tim, who "hated" it. Heidi Klum had strong words about the season, too, although she said they had a great winner in Ashley Nell Tipton. But Tim is raving about the show that comes on after the reunion, which is "Project Runway Junior." The Season 14 finale was jam-packed with ads for the younger version of PR, and it sounds like Tim didn't just love it because the teens are adorable. He was "disarmed" by their genuine talent, and it was a great palate cleanser for him after the negativity of PR14. "I loved every second of it," Tim told Variety. "I was not a fan of Season 14. We started filming 'Junior' after we wrapped the bulk of the episodes for Season 14. After spending just a half a day with the 'Junior' designers, it was like a Season 14 antidote. It was like the sun came out and the clouds parted. I loved every second of this season. I was sick when it ended." He wasn't excited about the idea of doing the show to begin with, so he was very pleasantly surprised. Tim got so emotionally invested that he said he "broke down at one point in the middle of the season when I had to tell the designer who was out that he or she had to go pack up his or her work station. It was bad. I looked at these teens' faces as I was sputtering and it wasn't pretty. I thought I'd better control myself." Hopefully viewers love the season as much as Tim did. Will you be watching when the season starts tonight at 9 p.m.? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Actor Nathaniel Marston Dies at 40, His Mother Posts Heartbreaking Update Posted: Nathaniel Marston, best known from his years on "As the World Turns" and "One Life to Live," died November 11 after sustaining major injuries in a car crash. He was 40. The single-car accident happened October 30 near Reno, Nevada, and left him in critical condition. His mother had the gut-wrenching job of breaking the news of his death, and here's the update she shared on Facebook:
As she wrote, had her son survived, he would've required a ventilator, wouldn't have been able to speak, and would've lived as a quadriplegic. She knew her son better than anyone and said that's not a condition he would've wanted. Nathaniel's first role was in the 1996 romantic comedy "Love Is All There Is," which starred Angelina Jolie. He was also in "The Craft," but is still known to most fans from his TV roles, in soap operas but also episodes of "White Collar," "Castle," Law & Order: SVU," and "Blue Bloods." Our condolences to his family, friends, and co-stars. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

It's time to rank some of the most memorable "Sex and the City" love interests, from worst to best. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Fantasia': 15 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About This Disney Classic Posted: "Fantasia" was a flop when it was first released 75 years ago (on November 13, 1940). Since then, however, over the course of multiple re-releases, the Disney feature has earned a reputation as a masterpiece for its blend of lushly recorded classical music and dazzling Technicolor animation. It eventually became a huge success in both theaters and on home video and spawned several sequels and spinoffs, not to mention parodies by other studios. Still, as many times as you've enjoyed the ballet-dancing hippos or Mickey Mouse's botched attempt at using magic to shirk drudgery, there's a lot you may not know about "Fantasia." Read on, and watch out for those magic mushrooms. 1. The germ of the film began when Walt Disney bumped into legendary Philadelphia Orchestra conductor Leopold Stokowski (pictured) outside Chasen's restaurant in Hollywood. Disney told Stokowski of his idea to make one of his trademark "Silly Symphony" shorts out of Paul Dukas' composition "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," scored by a full orchestra and starring Mickey Mouse. Stokowski offered to conduct the score. When the production ran over budget (costing $125,000), instead of scrapping the short, Disney decided to turn it into a full-length feature, with multiple animated shorts scored to a full symphonic concert program of celebrated classical works. Stokowski and his orchestra ended up scoring the entire movie and being shown in "Fantasia"'s live-action segments. 2. "Fantasia" was the first movie to be screened in stereo. Disney sound engineers created an elaborate sound system called "Fantasound" for the film, recording the orchestra on a then-unprecedented nine-track polyphonic master, then mixed down to three tracks. To play the soundtrack, theaters had to be equipped with a Fantasound system that included 90 speakers placed throughout the auditorium. That meant the film had to be booked as a touring road show, with Disney technicians mounting the speakers at a venue in each city ahead of the film's debut there. 3. Originally, Disney animators made nine sequences for the film, including one set to Debussy's "Clair de Lune" featuring birds flying across a moonlit sky over the Florida Everglades. The segment was cut for length, but it appeared a few years later in another Disney musical anthology film, 1946's "Make Mine Music," scored to the song "Blue Bayou." It appears as an extra on some special-edition DVDs of "Fantasia," with the original Stokowski recording of the Debussy piece restored. 4. Disney envisioned "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (pictured), and later the "Fantasia" feature, as a comeback vehicle for Mickey Mouse -- his popularity had slumped in the late 1930s. In fact, "Fantasia" rebooted him with a new look, the familiar pupil-eyed face we know today. 5. The centaurettes in the segment scored to Beethoven's "Pastoral" symphony were the source of more than one controversy. The Hollywood Production Code office was worried about their toplessness, so the Disney animators were careful to hide the breasts with flowers. After the film's release, some viewers objected to Sunflower, a centaurette with exaggerated black features, shown polishing the hooves of a white centaurette. Deemed a negative racial stereotype, Sunflower was cut from the film for the 1969 re-release and left out of future prints of "Fantasia." 6. When the film was scheduled to premiere in New York on November 13, 1940, the finale (the "Ave Maria" sequence) wasn't quite finished. That reel arrived at the theater with just four hours to spare and was spliced onto the rest of the movie. 7. The animators wanted to model Chernabog, the winged demon who dominates the segment set to Modest Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain," on horror icon Bela Lugosi. But they didn't think his movements worked, so they modeled him after Wilfred Jackson, the sequence's director, instead. 8. For the dancing mushrooms in the segment set to Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite," the animators found inspiration in the movements of the Three Stooges. 9. On it's initial run, the film only made $1.3 million -- making it an even bigger money-loser than "Pinocchio." The expense and complexity of the Fantasound system meant that the film could only play in about a dozen cities on its 1940-41 release. And World War II kept it from playing overseas. Eventually, however, re-releases made the film profitable. It ultimately grossed $76 million in theaters over the years. Adjusted for inflation, that's $693 million -- enough to make it the 22nd highest-grossing film of all time. 10. Walt Disney was miffed that the Academy didn't consider "Fantasia" for a Best Picture nomination at the 1941 Oscars, but it hadn't been released in Los Angeles in time to be eligible. The following year, however, he and Stokowski earned special Oscars recognizing their contributions to advancing the art of sound motion pictures in "Fantasia." 11. Igor Stravinsky, at the time the only living composer represented in "Fantasia," visited the Disney animation studio at least once during production. But when the finished film was released, he was disgusted with the treatment given his "Rite of Spring," calling the orchestra's performance "execrable" and dismissing the dinosaur cartoon accompanying it as an "unresisting imbecility." 12. Disney wanted to turn the film into an evolving work, re-releasing it every few years with new musical segments added and some old ones cycled out. But it never happened, and the film was re-released more or less unchanged every few years, sometimes with cuts or with re-mastered sound. 13. The 1940 original inspired the 2010 live-action "Sorcerer's Apprentice" movie starring Nicolas Cage (pictured). In June, Disney announced it's developing a live-action feature based on the "Night on Bald Mountain" sequence. 14. The Walt Disney company finally got around to making a sequel in 1999. Called "Fantasia 2000," it kept "Sorcerer's Apprentice" but added seven new segments. They were performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and conducted by James Levine. 15. When the original movie was re-released in 1969, at the height of the flower-power era, Disney marketed it as a "head" movie, with a psychedelic poster. Audiences, especially those under the influence, found a new appreciation for the film. Speaking during the film's 50th anniversary in 1990 (pictured), "Fantasia" animator Ollie Johnston recalled talking to students after the 1969 re-release and hearing them ask him, "What were you on, anyway?" Jennifer Lawrence Says Guys Are 'So Mean' to Her and Never Ask Her Out Posted: Gentlemen, would one of you please volunteer as tribute and ask Jennifer Lawrence out on a date this Saturday night? The "Hunger Games" star is busy promoting the final film, and she just gave a very candid interview to Vogue. She talked about serious and silly things, as usual, involving her film career and personal life. When it came to dating, Vogue noted that she's been spending a lot of time on her own since breaking up with Chris Martin, whom she dated for about a year. "No one ever asks me out," JLaw told Vogue. "I am lonely every Saturday night. Guys are so mean to me. I know where it's coming from, I know they're trying to establish dominance, but it hurts my feelings. I'm just a girl who wants you to be nice to me. I am straight as an arrow. I feel like I need to meet a guy, with all due respect, who has been living in Baghdad for five years who has no idea who I am." They probably still know her in Baghdad, but what's this establishing dominance business? Are they training her as a dog or something? Speaking more about dating, Jennifer mentioned someone she dated and described him as sexy, then added, "but I didn't like how he made me feel. When someone makes you insecure, it's strangely exhilarating because you keep trying to fight for that validation." She paused. "It's what you want to have before you get married, so that you don't seek it out once you are." Vogue added that Jennifer's best friend just got married, and another close friend is getting married next year, so the actress -- who is still only 25 -- is feeling the love bug. "I can't wait to be married," she said. "I feel like if I find that one person who I want to spend the rest of my life with, who I want to be the father of my children, that I would absolutely not f-ck it up." Another pause. "But I'm also not banking on that." Sounds like she's half Disney fairy tale, half Amy Schumer pragmatism. Maybe we all are. It's kind of scary to hear that even Jennifer Lawrence has trouble finding dates, since she's pretty much flawless, but maybe guys are just intimidated. Prince Charming, if you're out there, step up! Princess Leia Feels 'Solitary' in Heavy 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Story Posted: Poor Princess Leia. Not that she's Princess Leia anymore in "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens." As J.J. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly, "She's referred to as General. But ... there's a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her 'Princess.'" That sounds like something Han Solo (Harrison Ford) would do. But speaking of solo, it sounds like Leia, aka General Organa, will be on her own or at least feeling that way in this movie. A clip in the trailer showed her tearful face, as she and Han were (as EW described) "reunited on the tarmac of a Resistance base." Not sure why they were apart to begin with and needed to reunite, but we're worried about why Leia might be so upset. "The stakes are pretty high in the story for her, so there's not much goofing around where Leia's concerned," Abrams told EW, adding that her story is one of the heavier ones in the film. Carrie Fisher told EW that, when we meet the General again, she's not handling things too easily. She described Leia as "solitary. Under a lot of pressure. Committed as ever to her cause, but I would imagine feeling somewhat defeated, tired, and pissed." Can't say we're shocked that she's tired and pissed, fighting the dark side for more than 30 years now, but why is she solitary? Why isn't she with her brother, Luke Skywalker, or with Han? John Boyega (Finn) revealed to EW that soldiers raised from childhood to serve the Imperial forces were fed propaganda about Luke Skywalker, that he was a villain who destroyed the benevolent Empire. So maybe he's in hiding and that's why he's not with Leia? Daisy Ridley's character, Rey, is described has having been abandoned on Jakku at age 5, and she doesn't know why her family left. Fans have been wondering if she's the daughter of Han and Leia. If that's true, why would they abandon her ... and possibly her brother? Answers will (hopefully) arrive when "The Force Awakens" opens on December 18th. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Justin Bieber's Selfie With Jennifer Aniston Makes 1.1 Million New 'Friends' Posted: Could this BE more random? Jennifer Aniston and Justin Bieber aren't the most likely besties, although they both have a connection to Selena Gomez, Jen does like guys named Justin, and when you're a star of "Friends" everyone just assumes they can join your squad. That's a lot of likes (so far), but not the most on Bieber's Instagram and still nowhere near the more than 3.2 million record-breaking "likes" Kendall Jenner got for this hair pic. Not that it's a competition. But seriously. Jennifer Aniston must defeat the Kardashians. It is her As People noted, this selfie was probably taken at "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which is celebrating Bieber Week and yes that's a thing. "Ellen" is also celebrating its 2,000th show today, and Jen was one of the many celeb guests. Justin Timberlake was also in the house but, so far, only Jen has had the honor of seeing her pic blasted out to the gazillions of Beliebers. There's no caption, so it's ... well, it's waiting for fan captions, maybe, so consider writing your own story for this occasion. From here, it looks like the perfect time to bring in Phoebe for a group rendition of "Smelly Cat." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Brad Pitt's 13 Best Movies, Ranked Posted: There's no denying Brad Pitt's an incredibly good-looking guy, but you can't base a successful 20-plus-year career on looks alone. Here's our ranking of his best work, from "Seven" to "World War Z." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Carey Mulligan Sent an Earnest Fan Letter to 'Mr. Eminem' When She Was 16 Posted: Stars, they're just like us -- sometimes they embarrass themselves with gushing fan mail to celebrities. Carey Mulligan is a very proper-sounding 30-year-old Brit married to Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons, but she has love for a certain Detroit rapper in her heart. Carey was just on "The Late Late Show" to promote "Suffragette," and the topic turned to fan clubs. She told James Corden she was never in any fan clubs, although she used to like race car drivers, she just never wrote to them. However, she said, "I did write to Eminem once." James gasped and said, "You're Stan! You're who 'Stan' was based on! This is a huge exclusive." Haha. Not really. Here's what Carey did: She said Eminem never wrote back, which is sad, but considering the amount of mail celebs get it's not surprising. Christoph Waltz, a fellow guest on "The Late Late Show," wanted to know "contribution to what?" Apparently he's not a big Eminem follower. Another guest, Johnny Galecki, said he wrote a fan letter once to Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue. Full disclosure: I once wrote to Ethan Hawke and his grandmother wrote back from Texas. Nowadays young'uns probably just tweet to their faves -- or they avoid celeb stalking all together, which is the more mature thing to do. Here's Carey sharing her story: Want more stuff like this? Best of Late Night TV: Jimmy Fallon Rides Bald James McAvoy, Jesse Eisenberg's Vegan 'Thanksliving' Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. On Tuesday, Daniel Radcliffe was on "The Tonight Show" playing Water War, and on Wednesday his "Victor Frankenstein" co-star James McAvoy gave Jimmy Fallon a ride on his shoulders. Fallon clearly has the best job ever. Both James and DanRad shaved their heads for different movies. James said his wife kinda likes his bald head and his son likes it because, when he rides on James's shoulders, he can rub the spikes on his head. So James asked Jimmy if he'd like to try it. Let us all try! Although, it is slightly creepy to see Fallon gleefully rubbing McAvoy's head like that. Then they showed how James would look with different hairstyles -- including The Trump, Questlove, and Guy Fieri. He's a much better Guy Fieri than Guy Fieri. Jimmy Fallon broke into his suggestion box and read off several ideas, putting a few into action. One was a request from a fan to bring out The Undertaker from WWE to "Tombstone" a guy in a turkey outfit on the show. Rob Lowe has a gold McDonald's card that guarantees him free food for a year. He explained to Jimmy Kimmel how he got it, and it involves the inventor of the Egg McMuffin. Kimmel improved the latest Republican debate by taking the audio and setting it to "Wacky Races." Adam Levine talked about "The Voice" Season 9 and confirmed that, to him, "Blake's still an idiot." And did you know that Adam was a writer's assistant on "Judging Amy" and a guest star on "90210"? Lou Diamond Phillips can do a perfect(ly sexy) impression of Antonio Banderas, and he showed it off to Conan O'Brien: Jesse Eisenberg, who is "95 percent vegetarian," talked about his family's vegan Thanksgiving, that they call "Thanksliving," buying and saving turkeys and putting their photos on the table. THAT IS ADORABLE. Sorry, meat-eaters but that is awesome and he wins for this. Then they eat tofu as the main meal, which can be delicious if made well but you have to get creative. Carey Mulligan wrote a fan letter to Eminem once. She was 16 and had just seen "8 Mile" so she penned an earnest note to "Mr. Eminem." James Corden said she's "Stan." Last but not least, did you know that Christoph Waltz is obsessed with the bass player on "The Late Late Show"? He interrupted James Corden the last time he was there, to get an introduction, and he returned to the show last night to make it clear he's there for Hagar Ben Ari. At least he has good taste. But isn't he married? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
