'Warcraft' Trailer Pits Orcs Against Humans in Epic Battle Posted: Orcs and humans are destined to be enemies - or are they? The first trailer for "Warcraft," the movie adaptation of the massively popular video game "World of Warcraft," sets the two sides against each other. The orcs' world is dying, and they are fleeing to the human realm. The humans are ready to fight back, and the battle promises to be epic and bloody. But perhaps one human leader and one orc warrior -Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel) and Durotan (Toby Kebbell) - can bridge the divide and form an alliance for peace. Can "Warcraft" be the next "Lord of the Rings"? It certainly seems to want to try. But the graphics and production design look, well, not as refined. The movie could certainly use another trailer that explains the story a bit more, too. Neither this one, nor the official synopsis, is particularly revealing:

'Luther' Returning for Three-Hour TV Movie Posted: "Luther" is ready to prowl the streets of London again this winter. BBC America announced that the British police drama starring Idris Elba is returning for a one-night, three-hour movie event on December 17. "Luther" has aired three seasons in both the U.K. and U.S. to much critical acclaim, and was renewed for a fourth series. Filming on that took place earlier this year, but it seems BBC America will package it as a three-hour movie, instead. Perhaps the network is trying to appeal to binge-watchers.Elba, of course, returns as the titular detective, with former "Game of Thrones" actress Rose Leslie joining the cast. Here's the official synopsis:

Jennifer Lawrence Accidentally Kisses Natalie Dormer at 'Hunger Games' Premiere Posted: Jennifer Lawrence kissed a girl - and she liked it! The actress had yet another adorably awkward moment on the red carpet of last night's London premiere of "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2." Lawrence came up behind co-star Natalie Dormer, who was giving an interview, and greeted her with a kiss. It was meant for the cheek, but Dormer turned her head and their lips met. "Oh my god!" Lawrence shrieked, jumping back with a giggle. "We just kissed on camera. And I liked it." The "Game of Thrones" actress wasn't fazed at all at having a "bit of Jennifer Lawrence" on her face. Then again, who'd complain about getting smooched by JLaw? This is the final tour for Lawrence, Dormer, and the other stars of "The Hunger Games." The saga ends with "Mockingjay - Part 2" on November 20, as Katniss Everdeen leads the revolution to the streets of the Capitol in the hope of deposing the evil President Snow. These 7 Magical Creatures May Star in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Posted: After months of not knowing much (or really, anything) about "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," Entertainment Weekly busted open the floodgates this week with tons of scoop about the hotly-anticipated "Harry Potter" prequel. Now, the magazine has shared even more intel about the types of titular creatures audiences can expect to see onscreen. "Fantastic Beasts" centers around magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), who travels the globe collecting and chronicling magical creatures for his textbook (which also shares its name with the flick). According to EW, the film is still in production and the list of beasts is still being finalized, but there are currently seven creatures that are considered likely to appear in the finished film. They include beasts first mentioned in J.K. Rowling's "Potter" books, as well as those featured in her 2001 version of the "Fantastic Beasts" book -- but EW says that "there might even be a creature that even the most devoted Harry Potter fan has never heard of" that pops up in the production. We can't wait. Below, here's the breakdown of what creatures crowds can (probably) expect to see onscreen next November. (As with EW's list, we've added some more intel from the Harry Potter wiki for each entry.) Niffler: A creature attracted to shiny objects, used by Goblins to find treasure; they're typically gentle beasts, but can cause trouble -- and some bites -- when on the lookout for valuables. Newt keeps one as a pseudo pet, and Redmayne told EW the creature was one of his favorites. "They have this wonderful love-hate relationship," Redmayne said of Newt and his Niffler. "He's incredibly aggravating and wonderful at same time. He's a complete nightmare, yet Newt gets off on his playfulness and single-mindedness." Ashwinder: A serpent that forms from the ashes of a magical fire that's been left to burn too long. Their red-hot eggs can burn down houses -- and they answer to Parseltongue. Not a great combination. Lethifold: Aggressive, violent, and deadly, it resembles a black, rippling cloth and glides along the ground. It targets its victims at night, suffocating them in their sleep; the only known defense is a Patronus (just like with Dementors). Augurey: An Irish phoenix with green-black feathers whose cry signifies coming rain. (Though it was once suspected of also predicting imminent death.) Bowtruckle: Introduced in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the hand-sized bowtruckle resembles sticks and bark, and lives in trees. It fiercely defends its residence, and its twig-like fingers have been known to scratch out a few eyes. According to EW, "This particular one lives in Newt's pocket." Crup: A wizard-bred dog that resembles a Jack Russell Terrier, with one key difference: This pooch has a forked tail. It's fiercely loyal to its magical owners, but ferocious toward muggles (or no-majs, if you prefer). Merpeople: Glimpsed in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (above), Rowling's take on the sea creatures is a bit more violent that the singing specimens found in "The Little Mermaid." The ones Harry saw had gray skin, green hair, yellow eyes, and were crazy frightening. According to "HP" lore, though, there are many different varieties of these creatures, with wildly varying looks and personalities. The prettier, Ariel-like sirens live in warmer climates, while selkies dwell in the colder waters near Harry and his friends in the U.K. All mermaids appear to enjoy music, though, something these ones have in common with Disney's version. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" hits theaters on November 18, 2016. [via: Entertainment Weekly] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' International Trailer Has Tons of New Footage Posted: American audiences may have watched their last full trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," but that hasn't stopped Lucasfilm from releasing a new international one -- and it has lots of goodies that U.S. fans haven't seen yet. The clip centers mostly around Rey (Daisy Ridley), who's waiting for her family to pick her up from the planet Jakku (there's a great shot of the setting sun skyline that resembles footage from Tatooine in "A New Hope"). Who that family is has long been speculated (is she playing Han Solo and Princess Leia's daughter?), but she finds a temporary substitute in BB-8, the adorable new droid who's been causing a stir on social media since his (or her) introduction. We see Rey and Finn's (John Boyega) first meeting, as well as lots of new footage of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) leading stormtroopers on a fiery, devastating ground assault. There are also plenty of shots of aerial battles, too, with X-Wings and TIE fighters duking it out; at one point, Chewbacca appears to blow up a ship. Later, Rey finds herself trapped by Ren, his three-pronged lightsaber held to her throat in a tense scene. "Hope is not lost today," a voice (perhaps belonging to Lupita Nyong'o's character, Maz Kanata?) says at the end of the clip, as Rey cries over what appears to be a dead body. "It is found." Check out the awesome trailer below. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is due in theaters on December 18. Photo credit: YouTube This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
8 Movies to Watch When You Want to Feel Fall AF Posted: As "Game of Thrones" tells us incessantly, winter is coming. Here are 8 movies that guaranteed to give you all the autumn feels. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Joseph Gordon-Levitt Returning to 'Lip Sync Battle' vs. Seth Rogen & Anthony Mackie Posted: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is gunning for the "Lip Sync Battle" crown again, and is teaming up with his "The Night Before" costars Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie for an epic holiday special edition of the Spike show. Gordon-Levitt, Rogen, and Mackie are set to throw down later this month, joining hosts LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen for some holiday-themed debauchery, complete with Rogen playing a naughty Elf on the Shelf and an appearance from rappers Run-D.M.C., who perform (well, "perform," since they'll probably be lip syncing, too) their classic "Christmas in Hollis." Other special guests are set to drop in, too. But the real draw will be to see if Gordon-Levitt can once again claim "Lip Sync Battle" glory, following his now-legendary 2013 appearance on "The Tonight Show," where he went head-to-head with Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Merchant. While Fallon granted both men the crown, audiences seemingly sided with Gordon-Levitt, and he's not likely to leave the "Lip Sync Battle" stage this time without sole possession of the championship belt -- even if he's gotta dress in drag as Janet Jackson to do it. Check out a preview of the fun below. The "Lip Sync Battle" holiday special airs on November 19 on Spike. Photo credit: Spike This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Every James Bond Movie, Ranked From Worst to Best Posted: He has driven an invisible car, ran across crocodiles, and made love in space. Is there anything James Bond can't do? For over 50 years, the number one cause of death for Euro-trash supervillains who reside in swanky volcano lairs has kept the world safe on the big screen with his unique brand of espionage. From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, it looks like the only thing 007 can't do is stop making movies. With "Spectre" hitting theaters, we've ranked every Bond adventure released by EON -- and one "unofficial" entry/remake of "Thunderball." (The '80s were a hell of a time.) Disney Grants Dying Fan's Wish to See 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Early Posted: The Force was indeed strong with Daniel Fleetwood, the dying "Star Wars" fan whose campaign to see "The Force Awakens" before he passed away went viral this week. Yesterday, Fleetwood finally got his wish. Fleetwood's wife, Ashley, revealed in a Facebook post that reps from Disney and Lucasfilm visited their Houston home on Thursday and allowed the couple to screen an unedited version of "The Force Awakens." Fleetwood is currently receiving hospice care for spindle cell sarcoma, a rare form of connective tissue cancer, and was worried that he would not live long enough to see the film's December release. In an effort to let the lifelong "Star Wars" fan view the film before he passed away, friends and family started the #ForceForDaniel campaign, urging director J.J. Abrams and other Disney execs to arrange for an advance screening for Fleetwood. The hashtag went viral, and grabbed the attention of "Force Awakens" stars Mark Hamill, John Boyega, and Peter Mayhew, among others (Hamill also tweeted his well wishes after Daniel's request was granted). On Facebook, Ashley Fleetwood said that Abrams called the couple personally to tell them that Daniel's final wish would indeed be coming true. "[I]n the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!" Ashley wrote. Check out Ashley's entire post below. And may the Force be with you, Daniel -- always.

The 10 Best Shows You're (Probably) Not Watching Posted: Now's your last chance. The third and final season of HBO's "Getting On" starts November 8, so you can still catch this unsung show while it's fresh. Why it never got the buzz of other HBO comedies is unclear. Sure, it's a funny show about a grim topic (dying), but that didn't stop "Six Feet Under" from becoming a critical and popular success. Quality doesn't always mean popularity, as the following gallery of 10 currently underrated, little-watched series demonstrates. Granted, it's hard to make an emotional investment and time commitment to a show that might be on the cancellation bubble. So enjoy these while you can. 17 Sequels That Made You Wish You Never Loved the Franchise in the First Place Posted: What do James Bond, Batman and Wolverine have in common? They've all let us down. Our favorite characters try their best to deliver movies worthy of both our time and theirs, but they often fall painfully short. Lots of sequels (especially threequels) get made that sully all the goodwill earned by the previous entries. So much so that, sometimes, audiences are left disappointed and wishing they never bothered. Here are 17 movies that made us fall out of love with our favorite franchises. Best of Late Night TV: Bryan Cranston's Deep Questions and Hillary Clinton's Chat with Kids Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. Let's get started with potential boss lady Hillary Clinton, who made a campaign pit stop at "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and talked about - what else? - Donald Trump. Turns out they used to be BFF before...you know...Donald Trump decided to ditch his career in reality TV and run for president. *Side-eyes* Hills also sat down with Kimmel to chat with a bunch of random/highly adorable children. The topic in question? Gender and politics. These kids very cute, but still...our country's youth apparently think a female president would paint the White House pink. Yeesh. Over on "Late Night," Daniel Craig talked about James Bond's-ahem-love life. Or, let's be honest, his completely insane sex life. Here's to hoping Bond uses protection, because lord knows how many kids he might have out there. Your favorite recurring "Tonight Show" skit is here! Jimmy Fallon and Martin Short relived the "'90s soap opera" they "made" together back in the day, aptly called "Tensions." And yes, Steve Martin made an appearance and it was magical. Finally, Bryan Cranston and Stephen Colbert pondered the meaning of life while passed out on a hillside. Questions in question? (Sorry.) What if God's a woman? Do good and evil really exist? And, what's the most tragic thing that could ever happen? (Answer: a manatee that cries but no one knows because he's under water, sob.)
