Watch the Trailer for the True Adenture Movie 'The Lost City of Z' Posted: 22 Dec 2016 09:00 PM PST The Lost City of Z is one of those movies that we've followed for so long and can't wait to at least see a glimpse of a finished product. Today brings that glimpse in the form of the first trailer for the feature, which was once to star Benedict Cumberbatch but now is led instead by Charlie Hunnam. First, here's some background on the movie and its true story: What is the city of Z? Z was the name given to a lost South American city thought to be El Dorado, the mythical "city of gold." Who does Hunnam portray? Hunnam plays real-life British explorer Percy Fawcett, who coined the name of the city of Z, which he went in search of in 1925. Did he find it? This isn't exactly a spoiler since it's a true story, but... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The Best Horror Movies of 2016 Posted: 22 Dec 2016 06:00 PM PST 2016 has been another banner year for horror cinema, with a steady stream of fright flicks emerging both from the studios and the indie scene. In fact, 2016 was such a good year for horror films that I had a hard time narrowing down my best of the year list to 10 titles. Unfortunately, as with year’s previous, some titles were omitted not because they weren’t awesome, but because I didn’t get to see them (I live in the sticks…). Because of that, things like The Autopsy of Jane Doe, The Eyes of My Mother and The Love Witch didn’t make this year’s round-up. With that out of the way, here are my top 10 horror films of 2016 – presented in no particular order. Green Room Jeremy Saulnier’s third feature film finds a group... Posted: 22 Dec 2016 03:00 PM PST Gotham City Sirens: Stephanie Corneliussen (TV's Mr. Robot) has proposed herself to play the DC Comics character Poison Ivy. She acknowledges that it's just "hoping" and wishing at this point, though the character is expected to appear in David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Stallone, Statham and Schwarzenegger to Return for 'The Expendables 4' Posted: 22 Dec 2016 12:00 PM PST As action movie stars aged in the past, they tended to be left behind by Hollywood. The thinking was that audiences wouldn't accept older actors as kick-ass heroes. Things began to change, however, when Sylvester Stallone successfully brought boxer Rocky Balboa back to the big screen ten years ago, showing that audiences would still respond to lovable action figures, even if they were older and moved a bit slower. While Rocky Balboa was more of a character drama, Stallone's Rambo was a straight-out action movie, complete with surprisingly explicit violence. It too proved to be a success at the box office. Soon thereafter, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull confirmed that beloved characters are almost always welcome. The following year, Taken showed...
