How Great is Disney's 'Moana'? The First Wave of Buzz Is Here Posted: 07 Nov 2016 09:00 PM PST Disney is already killing it in 2016, dominating much of the year's box office chart thanks to Finding Dory, Zootopia, The Jungle Book and its Marvel movies, including Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange, which just opened at number one. And the studio still has some of the most anticipated releases of the next two months. One of those is another animated feature, Moana. We still have a couple weeks until Moana hits theaters, but reviews of the movie, which stars the voices of Dwayne Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho and includes songs co-written by Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda, are already coming through, and they are mostly positive. Here's all the questions you may have with answers provided by the... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Tyler Perry Becomes the Eighth Filmmaker To Remake a Korean Body-Swap Comedy Posted: 07 Nov 2016 07:30 PM PST Tyler Perry just entered the cinematic history books. It wasn't because Boo! A Madea Halloween set some crazy box office record. It's not because he's the first filmmaker ever to cross some boundary. In fact, the record isn't a first at all: it's for being one of eight filmmakers to remake the hit 2014 Korean body-swap comedy Miss Granny. Yes, a Korean body-swap comedy called Miss Granny will soon have been remade eight times since 2014. This makes it, according to original production company CJ Entertainment, the world's most adapted film. The film already has Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Indian and Japanese versions either in the can or on the way, and now The Hollywood Reporter says Spanish and English redos are on the way as... Are There 'Civil War' and 'Captain Marvel' Easter Eggs In This 'Doctor Strange' Scene? Posted: 07 Nov 2016 06:00 PM PST Fans of Marvel's movies know that you have to watch their films very carefully if you want to catch all the little Easter eggs they decide to cram in. Everything from a number on the wall to a throwaway line of dialogue could house a big clue as to the future of their cinematic universe, and with Doctor Strange now in theaters -- and the top of the box office -- everyone is trying to dissect it to see whether it holds tasty clues as to Marvel's upcoming films. One specific scene in Doctor Strange is inspiring debate, with what appear to be a few fun throwaway lines potentially holding much bigger clues... or absolutely nothing at all. The scene in question comes early on, as Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is speeding down windy roads on his way to an event, all while... Marvel Studios Countdown: 'Doctor Strange' Just Introduced One of Marvel's Most Unique Villains Posted: 07 Nov 2016 04:30 PM PST Thor has Loki, Captain America has the Red Skull, and Dr. Stephen Strange has Dormammu. If you caught Doctor Strange this week, then you’ve already met the otherworldly villain. Sure, Mad Mikkelsen was front and center in the film’s marketing, as evil sorcerer Kaecilius, but the big showdown at the end of the film is a mind-bending one on one confrontation between Strange and the master of the dark realm, Dormammu. It was a treat for long-time Marvel fans who might have been let down that a third-stringer like Kaecilius was positioned in all the marketing as the film’s sole bad guy. In the comics’ Strange was calling on Dormammu’s powers almost from the get-go. This is quite a departure from the film, where (spoiler) Dr. Strange admonishes the... Long in development, and most recently set up at DreamWorks Animation, the project is based on an American animated television series from the 1980s that itself was drawn from two Japanese series about giant robots. David Hayter is currently writing a new screenplay. Netflix recently debuted a small-screen version (above) based on the same source material. 'Mr. Robot' Star Set as Freddie Mercury, Bryan Singer to Direct Queen Bio-Pic Posted: 07 Nov 2016 01:30 PM PST British rock band Queen hit the big time in the 1970s with smash hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions." Led by flamboyant singer Freddie Mercury, the band enjoyed great success throughout the 1980s, right up until Mercury died in 1991. The following year, "Bohemian Rhapsody" was featured in the hit comedy Wayne's World, renewing interest in the band's music in the U.S. Band member John Deacon retired in 1997; suriving members Brian May and Roger Taylor have continued to record and perform as Queen in the years since. As far back as 2008, Sacha Baron Cohen was touted to play Mercury in a movie about the band, to be written by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon). Cohen departed the project the...
