HBO Hasn't Ruled Out a 'Game of Thrones' Spinoff

Posted:

HBO StreamingIf going cold turkey on "Game of Thrones" sounds painful, there's good news: HBO is still considering spinoff projects.

With the end of the hit series too close for comfort, the premium network is having "preliminary ongoing talks" with author George R.R. Martin about follow-up ideas, reports Entertainment Weekly. The publication recently chatted with HBO programming president Casey Bloys, and he indicated that there are a variety of possibilities still on the table, including a prequel or spinoff.

"There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn't point to any one and say, 'This is what we're going to do,'" he told EW.

Fortunately, HBO does still have time to think about options. There are still two "Game of Thrones" seasons to go, albeit short ones. Season 7 will premiere next summer and consist of seven episodes, and Season 8 will likely follow in 2018.

If a prequel or spinoff were to follow, it would be a first from one of HBO's scripted shows. However, it wouldn't be a huge shock. "Game of Thrones" has been an awards-show staple, not to mention a ratings giant, since it premiered in 2011, so we can't blame Bloys and the network for wanting more.

"I'll take as much as we can get," Bloys said when asked about the Season 8 episode count.

It's a sentiment we'd bet all fans can relate to, whether that be in regard to the number of episodes or to a full-on spinoff or prequel series. The more "Game of Thrones" we get, the happier we'll be.

Jason Momoa's Netflix Series 'Frontier' Set for January Premiere

Posted:

BRITAIN-ENTERTAINMENT-CINEMA-SUICIDE SQUADJason Momoa fans may still be obsessing over whether or not he'll return to "Game of Thrones" as the popular character Khal Drogo, but they'll soon see him in another role on his upcoming Netflix series, "Frontier."

The streaming service announced Monday that "Frontier" will premiere on Jan. 20 with six episodes. Set in 1700s Canada, the historical drama follows warring groups attempting to control the fur trade. Momoa plays Declan Harp, a ruthless trader. He is joined by Landon Liboiron, Alun Armstrong, Zoe Boyle, Allan Hawco, Jessica Matten, and Shawn Doyle.

The series is co-created by Rob and Peter Blackie and directed by Brad Peyton ("San Andreas"). While it will be new to U.S. viewers come January, "Frontier" premiered on Nov. 6 on Discovery Canada. The show has been met with enthusiasm in our neighbor to the north, and its Season 2 renewal has already come.

Prepare to binge-watch, Momoa fans, whether or not the actor does ultimately reprise his role as Drogo.

Natalie Portman Grieves JFK's Death in New 'Jackie' Trailer

Posted:

Get your tissues ready. Natalie Portman might make you cry from just the latest trailer for "Jackie."

The film, which is due out in December, is described as "a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history." It looks at the death of President John F. Kennedy from the perspective of the his grieving wife, then First Lady Jaqueline Bouvier Kennedy. Portman stars as the titular character, and the new trailer shows off her poignant portrayal.

In the preview, we see Jackie trying to carry on after the assassination and protect her husband's legacy. It doesn't look easy, of course. As well as she seems to hold it together in public, she has private moments in which she breaks down completely. Credit Portman for pulling it off so skillfully -- especially if she does actually bring you to tears.
"Jackie" opens in select theaters on Dec. 2.

Raven Gets Her Bestie Chelsea Back in the 'That's So Raven' Sequel

Posted:

ABC's "The View" - Season 18As "That's So Raven" fans may remember, Chelsea and Raven are "equal bananas," so fittingly, both bananas will be back for the spinoff.

Disney announced Monday that Anneliese van der Pol will reprise her role as Chelsea Daniels in the sequel series, joining Raven-Symoné. The show will bring back the duo, who played high school students during the original, which ran from 2001 to 2006.

"The pairing of Raven-Symone and Anneliese is comedy gold," said Disney in a statement. "They each are skillful performers and there's a fantastic comedic chemistry between them. The two women are dear friends in real life too and are both thrilled to soon be working together again."

Both characters' lives will have changed drastically since "That's So Raven." Now, they'll both be moms, trying to raise their children post-divorce. To make things easier, Chelsea and her son, Levi, will move in with Raven and her two kids, Nia and Booker, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The premise sounds similar to Netflix's "Full House" revival, "Fuller House," but there will be differences. Lest you've forgotten, Raven has psychic powers that tended to get both her and Chelsea into strange predicaments. We should get more of that, flashbacks to our own adolescence, and the two of them calling out "haters" -- all intriguing ingredients.

'Making a Murderer' Update: Judge Orders Brendan Dassey's Release

Posted:

Missing WomanThe "Making a Murderer" twists and turns just keep coming.

On Monday, a Wisconsin judge ordered the release from prison of Brendan Dassey, one of the subjects of the hit Netflix documentary series.

Dassey, 27, and his uncle Steven Avery received life sentences in 2007 for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach. Nearly a decade later, "Making a Murderer" called their convictions into question and pushed them into the global spotlight. Efforts to get both men freed gained steam, and it appears that the most recent may be successful for Dassey.

Dassey's release is by no means a sure thing, though. Although Magistrate Judge William Dufflin's 17-page ruling Monday is a win for him, the "Making a Murderer" star will still face obstacles. State Attorney General Brad Schimel plans to attempt to prevent Dassey's release, according to Milwaukee's Journal Sentinel. Schimel's office announced that he intends to file an emergency motion in the Seventh Circuit seeking a stay of the release order.

If Dassey is released, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin while the state tries to reinstate his overturned conviction. The end to this legal drama doesn't seem to even be in sight. Obviously, getting out of jail isn't nearly as easy as Monopoly would have you believe.

It's a good thing that Netflix renewed the show -- clearly, there has been no shortage of new developments since Season 1, and many more could be on their way.

'Westworld' Season 2 Is Coming ... But Possibly Not Till 2018

Posted:

HBO has made another "Westworld" fantasy come true: The premium network has renewed the sci-fi TV series for Season 2.

The news came Monday, seven episodes into the 10-part first season, along with renewals for "Divorce" and "Insecure." Fans of "Westworld" may have to be patient when it comes to the series' sophomore season, though. Casey Bloys, HBO programming president, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that it could be "fall of 2017 or into '18" before it arrives.

"With 'Westworld,' because the production is such a big endeavor, I don't exactly know when [it will premiere] yet," said Bloys. "I can't speculate other than to say it'll either be '17 or '18. Probably more like '18 ... but we're a year away so let's see how it goes."

Whenever the show returns, we'll have 10 more twisted and captivating episodes to watch. The series centers on a futuristic amusement park that lets visitors live out their fantasies -- no matter how wild. Not surprisingly, the premise has proven controversial, but the show has attracted plenty of viewers nonetheless. In fact, "Westworld" has grossed an average of 11.7 million total viewers from its Oct. 2 debut until now.

The wait for Season 2 may be long, but we still have three more episodes of "Westworld" Season 1 on the horizon, complete with the talent of Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, and Ed Harris.

Mandy Moore Teases 'Tricky' Mother-Daughter Friction on 'This Is Us'

Posted:

THIS IS US -- "The Best Washing Machine in the Whole World " Episode 107 -- Pictured: Mandy Moore as Rebecca -- (Photo by: Ron Batzdorff/NBC)Yes, we're well aware that, after we first met her as a teen pop singer and actress, Mandy Moore's been all grown up for some time now. But on "This Is Us," she taken it to a wild extreme, playing her character all the way into her 60s.

Moore, 36, has skyrocketed back into the pop-culture scene with the success of NBC's family drama, in which she plays matriarch Rebecca Pearson, who audiences first met through a steady succession of flashbacks documenting the early days of starting her uniquely assembled family alongside husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), juxtaposed alongside the contemporary daily dramas of their three children, Kate (Chrissy Metz), Kevin (Justin Hartley), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown).

But Rebecca also recently made her first debut in the present day as a well-preserved sexagenarian interacting with her kids and grandchildren -- and with not-so-subtle nods to a currently strained relationship with Kate. Moore gave Moviefone some inside dish on her behind-the-scenes aging process, as well as a hint that a big reveal about Rebecca and Kate's conflict may be imminent -- oh, yeah, and she's incredibly stoked to be singing on the show, too.

Moviefone: I was so impressed with the old-age makeup when we finally saw Rebecca in the present day. But I'm sure that that's a mixed blessing for you. Tell me about the experience.

Mandy Moore: It's a lot of work on my skin. It's really harsh on my skin. I just went through two days of it. I'm so grateful for this job. I love the opportunity to work with what I think is such an incredibly strong ensemble on television. And the opportunity to play this character from 27 to 66 is like, when other time, when else am I ever going to have this kind of opportunity in my career? So I'm totally find to sit down for four hours to put that makeup on.

Tell me about the physicality of playing her at that age. What do you do in your head to get there?

I really think about where she is in her life, and the wisdom and clarity that comes with age. The sort of grounded-ness, keeping in mind the nurturing aspect, the maternal aspect of being a mother and a grandmother, but also where she is at this phase in her life. She's raised her kids. I think there is a sense of like, not like "I don't give a f*ck" that comes with age, but a little bit of like, I know who I am, I make no apologies for it, I'm a strong woman, I raised these kids, I know what I want from my life.

So thinking about that kind of mama bear, empowered woman is something that I try and keep in mind, and then the physicality of it is like, she's 66, she's not 86. She's vital and vibrant and kind of in the most exciting phase of her life, I think. So, maybe her body doesn't move as quick as it used to. Maybe there's a little arthritis in her hand, but other than that, there's not a lot stopping her.

She's got a little friction with Kate, we've learned. So give me a little tease as to what's ahead: Are we going to get to the bottom of that soon, or are we going to have to wait to learn the cause?

We're going to wait, because I don't think even we have all the answers. Chrissy and I, we just worked together, really, for the first time not that long ago, and before we shot those scenes we talked about how we've gotten to where we are, what we think sort of came in between us.

And although [series creator] Dan Fogelman is really great about having this over-arching idea and trajectory of what happens in these milestone moments for the family, he doesn't have all the answers, or at least he hasn't given us all the answers. I think he gives us a little bit of leeway to come up with stuff ourselves. So, hopefully, what we've sort of surmised is going to be in line with the writers.

But I think there's been a tricky sort of amount of friction with them. And I think some things have already been revealed, like Randall and Rebecca are very, very close, and that's got to be hard to feel like there is a favorite child, and for the other two siblings to feel like they're kind of chopped liver, to a certain extent. It's messy, it's life, it's something we all can relate to.

When did they tell you that you were going to be able to sing on the show, and what did that mean to you?

Dan told me pretty early on that there was music in my character's backstory, and that was some way in how Milo met me, that I was singing and that I was in a bar, and he heard me sing. And so I knew fairly early on that like that was going to be a part of the story. I didn't know when it was going to factor in, because he sort of peppered us with all of this wealth of information: This is who you are, this where you guys are going, this is what happens to your marriage, and you're like, "Ah..." Trying to take everything in and trying to remember everything.

But I'm so happy that it's sort of activated that part of me again, and I'm honored to get to share the show with Chrissy and her beautiful voice. I remember everybody was like, "Oh yeah, Chrissy sings, too." I was like, "Oh, that's nice, that's cool. I can't wait to see that episode," and then I'm like, "Holy cow -- it's unbelievable!" But, I love that, again, we're able to have that sort of connective tissue, as well, and that's something that our characters have that we love about each other.

What are you loving about the '70s vibe that you get to live in from time to time?

I love the carefree aspects. I love that it's kind of the least amount of time in hair and makeup. You just slap on some hair extensions and a little bit of makeup, and we go. It's more fun. Because, obviously, as the show goes further along and we go deeper into the '80s, that means I get to wear some real mom jeans, and the fashion is not as fun or as forgiving in the '80s.

"This Is Us" airs Tuesdays on NBC.

New 'Fantastic Beasts' Clips: Eddie Redmayne Is in Serious Trouble

Posted:

Getting caught smuggling dangerous animals into the U.S. is never good, but it's especially bad when you're a wizard at risk of violating the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Add in a tense political climate, and the situation goes from bad to worse.

That's what we have to look forward to in J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," as we can see in new clips released Monday by Warner Bros. Pictures. The sneak peek videos show Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) landing in hot water thanks to a "No-Maj" (the American term for "Muggle") named Jacob. With Newt's magical creatures on the loose, he knows he's in for all kind of problems. He tries to get some help, but unfortunately, it looks like the price is too high. The accident with Newt's suitcase doesn't seem very accidental to some. In fact, he's suspected of having very dire motives -- ones that connect him to a dangerous character introduced in the Harry Potter series."Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" hits theaters on Nov. 18.

New 'Patriots Day' Trailer: Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Bacon Hunt for the Boston Marathon Bombers

Posted:

It's hard to forget the Boston Marathon bombing -- the chaos, the fear, the high-profile citywide manhunt. However, "Patriots Day" will give us a deeper look when the film hits theaters in December.

CBS Films released the official trailer Monday, and while it's intense and emotional, it is also uplifting. Described as "the powerful story of a community's courage in the face of terror," it pays homage to the strength of the city in the face of tragedy and terror. There's a great cast in place, too: Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, and Michelle Monaghan play law enforcement and first responders.

The trailer brings us back to April 2013, a normal day, proceeding as many before it had -- until the deadly explosions. First responders are quick to take action, and the FBI comes in to scour the city for the perpetrators. As you can imagine, it's gut-wrenching, but it looks powerful as well. Watch the trailer:

Directed by Peter Berg, "Patriots Day" opens in theaters across the U.S. on Jan. 13.

'SNL' Combines 'Walking Dead' & 'Chappelle's Show' and It's Perfect

Posted:

Takin' it like a champ! Dave Chappelle hosted "Saturday Night Live" for the first time on November 12, and in one brilliant sketch he managed to combine his much-missed "Chappelle's Show" with AMC's "The Walking Dead." He also slid in a message about the 2016 presidential election, and added some Chaka Khan. And -- of course -- there was crack.

Before SNL aired the taped piece, Chappelle addressed the audience, saying, "All week long people have been asking me if I was going to do any characters from 'Chappelle's Show' tonight. At first I wasn't going to, and then I saw that episode of 'Walking Dead' where they smash this guy Glenn on the head and kill him." He said it was "devastating" because he loves "The Walking Dead" and Glenn was one of his favorite characters. "I was crushed."

So he honored the event in kind of a strange way: He reenacted Negan's lineup, playing Negan himself, and giving the big bad a new lineup filled with his own "Chappelle's Show" characters, including Tyrone Biggums, Silky, Chuck Taylor, Clayton Bigsby, and Lil Jon.

The hilarious five-minute sketch ends with an uplifting message of hope from the decapitated character. Watch the video:"Note to self: Remind me to try crack."

Chappelle's hosting debut landed SNL its highest ratings so far this season. According to Deadline, the episode had the highest 18-49 overnight numbers since December 21, 2013, which was hosted by Jimmy Fallon with musical guest Justin Timberlake.

Here are two of the night's other standout sketches, with Chris Rock joining Chappelle for Election Night commentary, and Kate McKinnon honoring Hillary Clinton and the late Leonard Cohen by singing Cohen's "Hallelujah" in the cold open:Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.

Check Out the Critics' Choice TV Awards Nominations

Posted:

Steffan HillHBO is winning the Game of Nominations for the 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards. As Deadline noted, this year's Critics' Choice broadcast is already facing controversy, thanks to the Broadcast Television Journalists Association's decision to give Entertainment Weekly and People exclusive access to the nominations. "Several journalists resigned from the association in protest, including TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Variety's Debra Birnbaum, and IndieWire's Michael Schneider. The total resignations amounted close to 15% of the association's membership. As a result, this year's nominees were selected by a smaller pool than in previous years."

'The Walking Dead': Rick's Judith Confession Is 'Very Key' Watershed Moment

Posted:

The line came out of nowhere, but it was also six seasons coming on "The Walking Dead": "I know Judith isn't mine."

In Season 7, Episode 4, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) confessed to Michonne (Danai Gurira) that he knew the truth about his daughter -- that she is Shane's (Jon Bernthal) biological child -- and he shared the news toward the end of an episode where he had been emasculated several times by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Andrew Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly that was part of the point of putting the revelation in that episode, to illustrate why Rick was willing to swallow his pride and go along with Negan's treatment. Rick was just voicing the thought aloud for the first time, in an attempt to explain to Michonne his way of thinking, but he always knew that Judith was not his biological child:

"It's one of those watershed moments that happens, certainly between the two lovers, between Michonne and Rick, that brings them together. It's a very important moment in understanding his psyche and going, 'This is what I've been doing for the last two years. I've accepted the situation and I will accept the situation if it's going to save lives and if it's going to protect the people I love. I will take it.' It's another perfect kind of quiet heroism. You know, he's a stepdad and it doesn't stop him loving his child, but he kind of has accepted that it's not his."

Rick is not her stepdad, though, he is her adoptive father. It takes more than biology to be a dad and Rick is Judith's dad. Period.

Anyway, Andrew Lincoln told Jon Bernthal the news, and he took it all in a "perfect" Jon way. Lincoln also said "it was a very, very key point" that showrunner Scott Gimple told him before they even got the first script for this season.

"We talked about it in the hiatus because it is very, very key. [...] It's a great, great secret that he's been holding on to for a long, long time. It's also a very smart way of understanding why he's behaving in this way, because he's been behaving that way with regards to his child since the outbreak, since he got the news. There's a scene with Lori where it's almost touched upon — outside on the farm, there's a scene where he makes peace with whatever's gone down and that's, I think, a key moment. He doesn't voice it, but it's there. It's in the air."

It was a touching, humanizing moment after an episode of humiliations. Rick is a flawed leader, but he is a good man, and this was just another reminder. Of course, the Internet had fun with the revelation (whether true or not -- I mean, how could Rick really know without a paternity test?) and brought Shane back onto the show with their jokes:

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 continues Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.

Winter is never the only thing coming on "Game of Thrones," but this latest sex scene spoiler has a bit of a twist. It's kind of a sweet twist, though, and marks some welcome good news for a beloved couple.

Watchers on the Wall has been sharing all kinds of scoop as the HBO series shoots Season 7. This latest spoiler is a two-parter, and both parts include Grey Worm.WotW reported that Daenyers Targaryen's Unsullied leader will lead his men to assault Casterly Rock, the Lannister stronghold. Here's the other Grey Worm news, which sounds more, um, pleasurable:

"Finally, let's leave you guys with a bang: We have mentioned Grey Worm, so we will make the most of it and share a little season seven tidbit our sources have told us about. Grey Worm won't merely be fighting next year: Grey Worm and Missandei's relationship will go much further than in previous seasons. In fact, there is a sex scene in the works!"

My, my! That's somewhat surprising, since Grey Worm -- like all Unsullied boys -- is a eunuch. But there's more than one way to have sex, and the point is that their relationship is headed to the next level. However, there's often a calm before the storm on this show, so does that bode ill for one of the characters? Let's hope there's no post-coital death scene coming out of this.

Read WotW's full post for more spoilers, including some intriguing stuff about Dany, Jaime Lannister, Bronn, and Highgarden.

Official 'Beauty and the Beast' Trailer Is a Dream Come True

Posted:

Disney just released the official U.S. trailer for "Beauty and the Beast" and it's so perfect you might not get to the end without tearing up. It's also the ideal Monday morning pick-me-up, so consider bookmarking the video to watch every week until the March 17, 2017 opening.

The trailer is filled with familiar moments from the 1991 animated film, brought to life in luscious fashion, with new touches and -- of course -- Emma Watson. The visuals are stunning (although dark), the costumes are lovely, and we're bouncing out of our chairs in excitement.

Watch the trailer:

Here's the official synopsis:

"Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' is a live-action re-telling of the studio's animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. "Beauty and the Beast" is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast's hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle's eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston's long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts."

"Beauty and the Beast" opens March 17, 2017.

'Westworld' Just Confirmed Big Fan Theory, But You're Wrong About Others

Posted:

"What door?" is HBO's new "Hold the door."

"Westworld" Season 1 confirmed one of the many theories out there in Episode 7, "Trompe L'Oeil," whose trick of the eye title was put to good use on Bernard Lowe. However, actor Jeffrey Wright warned that no fans out there are 100 percent correct in their theories, so don't gloat too hard yet.

Toward the end of the November 13 episode, in a showdown orchestrated by mad genius Dr. Ford (Anthony Hopkins), Bernard led Theresa Cullen (Sidse Babett Knudsen) into a secret section of Ford's old family home in the park. They went through a room Bernard couldn't see on his own ("what door?") so Ford could have Theresa stumble on plans that showed Bernard is a host, like Dolores, Maeve, and the others. Bernard was shown to be (not free) under Ford's control, and the end scene showed Ford turn his back as Bernard was used as an assassin to kill his former lover. Many fans suspected Bernard was a host, despite his own memories of his late son. Those memories, a dream, started the episode, and maybe threw more fans off the scent before the big reveal.

Jeffrey Wright talked more about the reveal to Entertainment Weekly. He agreed that Bernard being a host wasn't an out-of-left-field shocker, it made sense. "It's woven into the logic behind the relationship of the characters and it's not done for any shock value. There are very specific reasons why he is synthetic. If fans weren't at all aware, or didn't have any suspicions, that would have been a disservice to them and undermine the quality of storytelling. But I will think they will be surprised and pleased by how it's revealed." We didn't get to see Bernard react to what happened, and EW asked if that's ahead. "Let's see where we go. What clearly is also revealed is the extent of Ford's power — his creativity and his malevolence. What we'll further explore is his intent."

And here's the part on more theories:

Did you have any theories about the show along the way while making the series that turned out to be wrong?

Oh yeah. Lisa and [showrunner Jonathan Nolan] are light years ahead of all of us. Much like the fans, we had theories about where the show was heading and how certain things would be resolved and none of us batted 1.000 on that — and should say that there are no fans out there who are batting 1.000 either.

Interesting, so you've been keeping half an eye on the fan theories?

Yeah, sure, it's great storytelling.

Wright also said he thinks "fans will be gratified" by what's ahead, whether they guess what's coming or not. So keep that in mind. There are 10 episodes to Season 1, with "Westworld" Season 1, Episode 8, "Trade Decay" airing next Sunday, November 20 at 9 p.m. on HBO.

TV Worth Watching

"The Affair" (Sunday on Showtime at 10 p.m.)
Showtime's Golden Globe Award-winning drama returns for its third season November 20. One of the big twists this year is the addition of a new character perspective -- French actress Irene Jacob plays Noah's (Dominic West) new love interest, Juliette Le Gall. She is described as "someone who is running from her own secrets and who helps Noah process a trauma from his past and understand himself a little better." Brendan Fraser also joins the cast as a mysterious prison guard. Here's the synopsis for the Season 3 premiere: "Haunted by recent hardship, Noah struggles to navigate the challenges of his old life while attempting to adapt to a new one. A new love interest isn't enough to overcome a sense of dread. Someone is watching him."

"Good Behavior" (Tuesday on TNT at 9 p.m.)Lady Mary is back, and the Dowager Countess would not approve of her indiscretions! In this new drama, based on the novella series by Blake Crouch, "Downton Abbey" alum Michelle Dockery plays Letty Dobesh, a thief and con artist recently released from prison. She's trying to keep her life on track, but when she overhears a hit man being hired to kill a man's wife, she tries to stop the job, sending her on a dangerous collision course with the killer. Juan Diego Botto, Terry Kinney, and Lusia Strus co-star in the series, which launches with a two-episode premiere November 15.

"Shooter" (Tuesday on USA at 10 p.m.)
Ryan Phillippe's new drama, based on the novel "Point of Impact," has been trying to see the light of day for a while now. It was set to premiere in early July but was postponed due to the Dallas shootings. It was then pulled from the summer schedule after the Baton Rouge shootings. There are just too many real-life shootings to turn them into entertainment! But, in October, USA announced the new premiere date would be November 15, with Phillippe playing retired Marine sniper Bob Lee Swagger. In the first episode, Swagger is recruited by his former commander to prevent an assassination of the president, while FBI agent Nadine Memphis (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) investigates potential assassins.

11 Things You Never Knew About 'Space Jam'

Posted:

Need more proof that the '90s were a crazy/awesome time for movies? We'd like to submit to evidence "Space Jam."

It's been 20 years since Warner Bros. released the film, a documentary chronicling the time Michael Jordan spent his first NBA retirement teaming up with Bugs Bunny and the other Looney Tunes to defeat a group of super-powered aliens in a high-stakes game of basketball. Because a-doy!

To celebrate that anniversary, and to fill the wait until the long-awaited remake finally materializes, here are 11 interesting facts you might not know about this '90s classic.
1. For whatever reason, Warner Bros. continues to maintain the official "Space Jam" website 20 years later. You can check it out here if you're in the mood for some vintage, mid-'90s html work.

2. Early in the film, there's a shot of Moron Mountain in outer space with a strange, black rectangle in the corner of the screen. That rectangle is the alien monolith from "2001: A Space Odyssey."3. When Bill Murray's character tells Daffy "the producer is a friend of mine," he wasn't lying. "Space Jam" was produced by Ivan Reitman, who's probably best known for teaming with Murray on classic comedies like "Ghostbusters" and "Stripes."
4. Though they're never actually mentioned in the film, all five Monstars have names of their own: Blanko (blue), Bupkis (purple), Bang (green), Nawt (red) and Pound (orange).

5. Perhaps the biggest winner in the whole "Space Jam" enterprise was singer R. Kelly. He wrote the Grammy-winning "I Believe I Can Fly" specifically for the film's soundtrack. To date, it remains his biggest hit single.6. Legendary animator Chuck Jones may have helped shape the Looney Tunes franchise, but he was critical of "Space Jam" after release. Among other complaints, Jones said that he felt Bugs should have solved his feud with the Monstars himself, rather than recruiting others to his cause.

7. While Jordan played himself in the movie, his wife, Juanita, and their three children were portrayed by actors. Apparently, not everyone in the Jordan family is eager to be on camera.8. The Monstars' career pretty much ended after "Space Jam," but they did briefly return in 1998 via a cameo appearance in the "Pinky & the Brain" episode, "Star Warriors."

9. "Space Jam" actually served as a reunion for His Airness and Mr. Bunny. The two appeared in a series of Nike commercials, where they joined forces against Marvin the Martian and his basketball-playing alien allies.10. With "Space Jam" being such a box office success, it should come as no surprise that Warner Bros. has been trying to craft sequels and/or a remake for years. It sounds like "Space Jam" reboot/remake is finally in the works, with LeBron James apparently taking over for Jordan.

11. Warners had some ambitious franchise plans for the film. At one point, Jackie Chan was slated to star in "Spy Jam" (with that project eventually morphing into 2003's "Looney Tunes: Back in Action"), and NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon was rumored for "Race Jam."
