'Alien: Covenant' Gets Earlier Release Date, Creepy New Poster Posted: Much like you'd expect from real extraterrestrials, "Alien: Covenant" is popping up without much warning. 20th Century Fox revealed Wednesday that the film -- the second in the Alien prequel series -- has been pushed up by almost three months. "Covenant" is now set to land in theaters on May 19 instead of Aug. 4. The news came with a bonus as well: a creepy teaser poster with the simple warning "Run." "Covenant" could face stiff competition during its new opening weekend. The film will now open against the "Baywatch" reboot, starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, among other movies. Nonetheless, "Covenant" has a lot of ingredients for success. The sci-fi flick bring back Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender as their respective "Prometheus" characters, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the android David. Their galactic adventures will continue with newcomers Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, and Danny McBride. Catch the Ridley Scott-helmed "Alien: Covenant" in theaters on May 19. Watch Honest Trailers Show Just How Weird 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' Is Posted: The winter holidays are upon us, so now is the time for making-merry. For Screen Junkies, that means pointing out just how bizarre the 1964 Christmas special "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is. The latest video in the Honest Trailers series takes on the stop-motion animated holiday classic by singing the famous Christmas carol as "if it were honest about what actually happens in the film." The narrator tries to stop the singers from turning the beloved story into "'Lord of the Rings' for kids on acid," but there's no stopping them. Through the new version of the song, we revisit Rudolph's journey into "exile." The trailer brings us through the entirety of the hour-long special in about two minutes, but it fits in the highlights -- and lowlights. The moral of the story suddenly seems a lot less festive, as seen through the eyes of Honest Trailers. At least the song is still catchy. The First 'Star Trek: Discovery' Cast Member Has Been Revealed Posted: The USS Discovery is no longer unmanned. Nicholas Meyer has let slip the name of the first "Star Trek: Discovery" cast member: Michelle Yeoh. "I know Michelle Yeoh is in it," Meyer, a consulting producer on the series and director of two Stark Trek films, told ComingSoon.net. He kept the specifics of the actress' "Discovery" role under wraps, but there's speculation that Yeoh will be the series' lead. She'd certainly be a good choice. Yeoh has shown what she can do in a number of films, including the Academy Award-winning film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and its recent sequel, "Sword of Destiny." It's easy to imagine her as a lieutenant commander, keeping crew members in line. Much still isn't known about "Discovery" -- certainly not as much as Trekkies would like -- so Yeoh's casting is especially welcome news. The series is set to premiere in May 2017 on CBS, with all episodes later becoming available exclusively on the network's streaming service, CBS All Access. 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life': Luke and Lorelai Will Face 'Curves and Twists' Posted: "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" is just around the corner, but the journey is only going to gain more twists and turns once we get there. Scott Patterson promised as much while talking about playing Luke in the Netflix revival series during a recent Variety interview. According to the actor, we can expect "treacherous sledding in these four episodes for old Luke-y." (Apparently, we're calling him that now.) *If you don't want any spoilers, turn away now.* Patterson confirmed that Luke and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) are together in "A Year in a Life," but even though he called the diner owner "that rock for her," their relationship isn't conflict-free. In fact, it sounds like we should be preparing ourselves right now to see a lot of big issues pop up in the episodes to come. "There are many curves and twists in the road, and rocks falling from above, and no guardrails, and thousand-foot drops," Patterson told Variety. The road to happily ever after (or wherever it leads) definitely doesn't sound smooth. Still, it's exciting that we'll get to see Luke and Lorelai "figuring out their next steps in life together," as he put it. After waiting so long, we'll take what we can get and try not to be too picky. "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" (finally!) hits Netflix on Nov. 25. Witchy 'Emerald City' Trailer Puts a Dark Twist on Oz Posted: Dorothy Gale is definitely not in Kansas, and "Emerald City" is definitely not a typical telling of "Wizard of Oz." NBC unveiled the trailer for the upcoming drama, which premieres January 6, and it has all the right elements: the tornado that whisks Dorothy (Adria Arjona) from her home; the wicked witch she accidentally kills; the dog by her side; the brick road; and the wizard at the end of it. But everything has a twist to it, from the warrior "munchkins" to the "scarecrow" she finds crucified by the side of the road. This is one dark and twisted Oz. As Dorothy tries to find her way home, she finds herself stuck in a war between witches Glinda (Joely Richardson) and West (Ana Ularu). And Dorothy soon learns that she may hold the key to saving Oz. "Emerald City" premieres Friday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. on NBC. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch Tipsy Lin-Manuel Miranda Tell Hamilton's Story on 'Drunk History' Preview Posted: "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda knows the story of the Founding Father as well as anybody —he wrote an entire musical about the guy, after all. But how well can he tell it when he's drunk? We're about to find out on the NOv. 29 episode of Comedy Central's "Drunk History," which gets celebrities to drink alcohol and then recount major events in history. Their storytelling is then reenacted by actors, and the end result is pretty hilarious. MIranda tells the story of Hamilton's famous duel with Aaron Burr, with Hamilton played by Alia Shawkat and Burr played by Aubrey Plaza. Dave Grohl and Tony Hale also pop up in the reenactment. Entertainment Weekly has the first clip from what should be a sidesplitting episode: Who needs "Hamilton" tickets anyway? (We do. WE STILL DO.) Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. The 'Friends' Cast Did Not Like the Show's Theme Song Posted: The "Friends" cast will be there for you — unless you're the theme song to the show. Jennifer Aniston recently revealed on the BBC's "The One Show that the cast did not like the famous tune sung by the Rembrandts, "I'll Be There For You," which played over the opening credits of the mega-hit NBC comedy. "No one was really a big fan of that theme song," she said. The actress and fellow stars Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer "felt it was a little ... I don't know. Dancing in a pond? A fountain felt sort of odd." So, why did they pretend to have fun splashing around the fountain in the credits? "We did it because we were told to," she explained. OK, maybe the "Friends" cast didn't like the song, but Aniston also admitted that she's just like normal people and gets sucked into watching the show when she's channel surfing. " "I can't help it. First, I'm trying to remember which episode it is, and then half the time I'm saying to myself, 'I don't remember that,'" she said. "You get sucked into the nostalgia of it." Don't we all? Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt Fall in Doomed Love in New 'Passengers' Trailer and Clips Posted: Two doomed lovers stuck on a sinking ship — no, this isn't "Titanic," but "Passengers." And instead of icy waters in the north Atlantic, this ship is hurtling through outer space. Sony released a new trailer and two clips from their big sci-fi/romance movie, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. They play two passengers among thousands of colonists heading to a new planet. They wake up from hypersleep 90 years too early and fall in love, only to discover their vessel is in danger — and that there's a reason they woke up: In the first clip, Pratt and Lawrence are examining part of the ship's system when a breach threatens both their lives: In the second clip, Lawrence finds herself in an impossible situation after a gravity failure: "Passengers" opens in theaters December 21. Ryan Reynolds Once Told Helen Mirren to 'Get It the F*ck Together' Posted: To be fair, he may have said it more than once. Ryan Reynolds is a natural comedian -- his timing is pretty much unmatched -- and he just opened up to The Hollywood Reporter on his path to "Deadpool," his wish that the Oscars had a comedy category, and why he told off Helen Mirren. Dame Helen got dragged into the Q&A when THR asked Reynolds, "What is your biggest fear as an actor?" Here's his response: Can't you just picture him whispering that to Helen Mirren -- and picture her absolutely loving it? You can hear her guffaw from here. Reynolds and the "Deadpool" crew have put their impressive comedy skills to work in an Oscars campaign for the movie. But Reynolds thinks there's a serious prejudice against the genre when it comes to awards.
Read Reynolds's full Q&A for more on his journey to "Deadpool." It recently made headlines that director Tim Miller left the franchise and won't direct "Deadpool 2," but Reynolds didn't have much to say on that, just sticking with "Ultimately, everything is on track, that's all that matters at the moment." 'The Walking Dead' Boss Loves That Rick & Daryl Morse Code Theory Posted: If "The Walking Dead" were "Westworld," then yeah, this Season 7 theory might pan out. But it's not. There's no need to read into every gesture on the AMC show, even if it would kinda be cool if The Powers That Be added more layers to their walker apocalypse maze. Heck, even TWD's showrunner thinks the new Morse code theory is "badass." Scott M. Gimple talked to Yahoo TV about the state of the show at this point, with Season 7 airing Episode 6 this Sunday, November 27. As part of the discussion, Yahoo asked Gimple about the fan theory working the Internet, arguing that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) might've been blinking a Morse code message to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) during the Episode 4 visit to Alexandria. Daryl was blinking a lot in that scene, and there was Morse code artwork on the wall at Chez Richonne... ... so the theory had some possible merit. However, Gimple had an answer for it. Here's what he told Yahoo: Maybe they were blinking plans to meet up later for pizza, or sharing their own special bromance love blinks. Who knows. It's a cool theory, though, just not one TWD embraced. That's the case on many shows, though: The fan fiction is often more creative than what the producers and writers choose to do. Gimple also teased more about what's ahead in Season 7. Episode 8 will mark the midseason finale, before the show airs the next set of eight episodes starting in February 2017. Gimple added that it will be "a very rewarding and satisfying journey for the audience" as "the light stuff starts to compete with the dark stuff." Read more from his Q&A. TWD's ratings have taken a hit so far in Season 7, but it's possible some fans will come back for "live" Sunday night viewing once the "stuff" and thangs start getting lighter. Just don't expect the stuff to come in Morse code. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Star Teases Future of Bran & Meera Posted: "Game of Thrones" may have shut down that intriguing fan theory about Meera Reed, but that doesn't mean the character's game is over. Actress Ellie Kendrick talked to MTV about Meera's role in Season 7, and it sounds like she's basically Bran Stark's Secret Service agent. Bran does need protecting, since he can't walk and he spends a lot of time having visions of the past and future, leaving him vulnerable in the present. Kendrick compared Bran to Eleven in "Stranger Things," teasing more Bran visions ahead in Season 7: Meera has kind of a thankless job, she's giving up her life to drag Bran around, but she believes in him and it does seem like he is a major key to the future of Westeros. So you could argue her sacrifice is at least as important as the men of the Night's Watch, or maesters of the Citadel. Up until the end of Season 6, some fans were speculating that Meera's role could be a lot bigger than just Bran's bodyguard. A theory suggested she might be Jon Snow's twin sister, raised by Howland Reed while Jon was raised by Ned Stark, since both men were at the Tower of Joy when Lyanna Stark gave birth, and both Meera and Jon are said to be the same age. Back in February, before Season 6 aired, Kendrick told Digital Spy she'd love for the twins theory to be true, but she didn't know. However, in November, after the Season 6 Tower of Joy sequence played out, only showing Jon Snow's birth, Kendrick seemed to allow that it wasn't looking good for the twins theory. Hopefully we do get those answers someday. The Reeds have been very loyal to the Starks, but that doesn't mean their stories aren't important as well. "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is now filming, and it will start airing its seven episodes in the summer of 2017. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 23 Crowns Youngest-Ever Winner Posted: Say what you want about 2016, but it has certainly blessed Laurie Hernandez. The 16-year-old gymnast went from the Final Five at the 2016 Olympics to first place in "Dancing With the Stars" Season 23. Everyone kinda knew she would win, and for once everyone was right. Laurie won the Fall 2016 season with pro dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy (who was dubbed the biggest "trash talker" of the season, see below). Laurie is the first Latina dancer to win DWTS, and she set a record as the youngest-ever winner, beating fellow Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson (Season 8) and Bindi Irwin (Season 21), who were both 17 when they won. This was Val's second Mirror Ball trophy win, after Rumer Willis in Season 20. For the November 22 win, the top-scoring Team Valaur defeated runners-up James Hinchcliffe & Sharna Burgess, and third placers Calvin Johnson, Jr. & Lindsay Arnold. The three finalists, plus fourth-placers Jana Kramer & Gleb Savchenko, were on "Good Morning America" Wednesday to celebrate the end of the season. That's when they did a round of yearbook superlatives and Val was jokingly named the biggest trash-talker, although he argued he's just "sarcastic." ABC Breaking News | Latest News Videos Laurie and Val can next be seen on the DWTS tour this winter: DWTS will return to ABC in the spring of 2017, and we hope Sharna will finally get that Mirror Ball trophy she has deserved for a while now. 7 Things You Never Knew About 'My Girl' Posted: "My Girl," the sophisticated, somewhat sugary coming-of-age drama released November 27th, 1991, is turning 25 this year. The movie, which stars Macaulay Culkin and Anna Chlumsky (25 years later, who would have thought she'd be the one with the successful career?), dealt with death and love and finding yourself, all set against a honeyed, nostalgia-choked period setting. Ah, the '70s, when what you really had to worry about was bees. Simpler times, simpler times. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie (and our continued, slow lurch towards the grave), here are seven things you probably don't know about "My Girl." 1. Child Psychologists Were Worried It Would Wreck ChildrenOne of the larger plot points in "My Girl" is (spoiler alert for a movie that's 25 years old) Macaulay Culkin dies after getting stung by many, many bees. It's a powerful moment and adds to the movie's themes of maturation and personal growth. But, back in 1991, child psychologists were worried about the damage it would inflict on children who watched the film. Yes, seriously. A Baltimore Sun article from November 17, 1991, proclaimed that "some child psychologists are worried" about the movie due to the Culkin character's death, especially since the film was being released after the global phenomenon that was "Home Alone." Please keep in mind that 1991 was the same year "Silence of the Lambs" became an unexpected blockbuster and would go on to sweep the Academy Awards. But, yes, let's worry about the bees. 2. It Won an MTV Movie Award for Best KissBack when the MTV Movie Awards were more of a thing (and much, much more fun), "My Girl" won the award for Best Kiss. Years later, Chlumsky would marvel that her first kiss (ever!) would win an award. (It was Culkin's first onscreen kiss, for those keeping score at home.) And even more years later, we would all marvel that the MTV Movie Awards are still around. 3. Anna Chlumsky Hasn't Spoken to Macaulay Culkin in More Than 20 YearsWhen E! caught up with Clumsky, who is having an incredible second wind thanks to parts in television series like "Veep" and "Hannibal" (where -- it's all connected! -- she played a Clarice Starling stand-in) and movies like "In the Loop" and "The End of the Tour," in 2013, she admitted that she hasn't spoken to her "My Girl" costar in 20 years. Considering his somewhat outrageous behavior in the years since becoming a child superstar, it's not all that surprising. But it's still sad. 4. It Inspired a Weird Video GameIn 2014, the film inspired an online video game rendered in the classic 8-bit style. In the game, you play as Culkin's character and are directed, as the game begins, to "Accept your fate." And yes, there is a run-in with bees. UK paper The Guardian described the moment when the bees attack you in a surprisingly philosophical tone: "At this point, realise that you're merely delaying the inevitable. You take your hands off the keyboards and let the bees attack Culkin at will. He dies. Anna Chlumsky wails: 'HE WAS GONNA BE AN ACROBAT!' The game ends." Yikes. 5. The Original Title Was TerribleAccording to the semi-reliable IMDb page for "My Girl," the movie's original title was "Born Jaundiced," which is just terrible. Producers then offered up $500 to whichever Imagine Entertainment employee could come up with the best title. (Imagine Entertainment is Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's company, by the way.) Since the movie is largely set in a funeral parlor, many suggested things like "Mourning Glory" (pun!), "In Lieu of Flowers," and "Dearly Departed" which, arguably, are all just as horrible as "Born Jaundiced." It was Grazer who came up with "My Girl," probably because he was thinking about all of the trailers and TV spots that could trot out the Temptations song of the same name. It's unclear whether or not he took the $500 and subsequently spent it on hair-care products. 6. Thrash Rock Band Anthrax Loved ItApparently, Anthrax, the noisy rock band whose music inspires countless bored husbands to head bang in their cars on the way to the accounting firm where they work, was a huge fan of the movie. There's a line of dialogue spoken by Griffin Dunne's teacher character in the film (Chlumsky is in love with him, but Culkin said it wouldn't be fair because he'd give her straight As -- ah, youth), "Be dangerous and unpredictable ... and make a lot of noise." At the end of their 1993 album "Sound of White Noise," singer John Bush says that exact phrase. Incredible. Also, I had to go to the Ultimate Metal message boards to chisel this nugget out for y'all, so please give thanks. 7. The House They Used for the Funeral Home Is Supposedly HauntedHidden inside an Orlando Weekly article about the history of the building that served as the funeral home in the film is this tantalizing detail: The house, which for many years was known as The Stanford Inn, was supposedly haunted. According to the highly scientific Apollo Paranormal website, in 2010, a paranormal investigation took place and the evidence (weird sounds, blurry photos) speak for themselves. Actually they don't speak to anything at all, but it's still fun to think about. According to the site, "Guests for years have reported hearing what sounds like a party going on at various times of night in the dining and bar area of the Stanford." Frustratingly, the site doesn't talk at all about who the ghosts or supposed to be or if anything horrific or otherworldly went down inside the house, besides Dan Aykroyd's ghoulish over-acting. 'This Is Us': Betrayed Randall Will Reveal His 'Anger Scale' in 'The Trip' Posted: Poor Randall. Thanksgiving probably isn't his favorite holiday anymore. "This Is Us" Season 1, Episode 8, "Pilgrim Rick," revealed a long-coming truth when Randall (Sterling K. Brown) found a letter from his mother Rebecca (Mandy Moore) to William (Ron Cephas Jones), including a photo of young Randall. Rebecca had always told Randall she didn't know his biological father, and Randall discovered his beloved mother's betrayal on Thanksgiving.
EW asked Fogelman how he would characterize Randall's anger at the moment that we left him, since he couldn't even look at his mother. Here's Fogelman's response: Fogelman said Rebecca won't be the only outlet for Randall's anger, although she's the main target. EW asked how Randall will handle William, who was "complicit" in this secret. It's a tough situation. Here's NBC's synopsis for "The Trip," which airs next Tuesday, November 29:
How do you think Randall and Rebecca should handle this to heal their relationship? This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life': 7 Things You Need to Know Posted: At long last, the premiere of Netflix's "Gilmore Girls" revival series, "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," is finally upon us, and with it, the return of our beloved Lorelai, Rory, Emily, Luke, Sookie, Paris, and the rest of the town of Stars Hollow. The four-part series -- divided into season-specific episodes titled "Winter," "Spring," "Summer," and "Fall" -- picks up about nine years after the Season 7 finale, and finds our characters in markedly different stages of their lives, a little older but not necessarily much wiser, and still striving to figure themselves out. The season theme indicates there will be plenty of change, and we can't wait to see what "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has in store for our titular girls. Read on for the key things to watch out for when "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" debuts on November 25. 1. Lorelai and Luke are still together -- but in a rut The first full-length trailer for "Gilmore: Girls: A Year in the Life" was a bit ominous about Luke and Lorelai's relationship, with Lorelai trying to convince herself out loud that she and Luke -- who still haven't gotten married -- are truly happy. Lorelai also admits that she feels a bit lost, and doesn't really know what she wants out of life. Does this mean that she and Luke are on the verge of a(nother) breakup? From the promotional photos to the short clips we've seen so far, they certainly look like a content, comfortable couple. Only time will tell if they remain that way for the rest of the revival -- and whether or not that's a good thing. 2. Rory's journalism career isn't going well Rory's dream of being a professional journalist seemed to be off to a great start when Season 7 ended, with the former Yale Daily News editor landing a job covering Barack Obama's presidential campaign straight out of college. But whatever success that that brought her appears to have been short-lived, with the official Netflix synopsis for "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" noting that she's living in New York, but her career has stalled. In the trailer, she tries to put a positive spin on her rootless existence, but seems more than a little wistful about what could have been, lamenting to Jess, "I could have been a contender." Early promo photos show that she winds up back at Chilton, but what she's doing there is so far unclear (is she just visiting as an alumna, or is she a teacher now?). 3. Emily is rebuilding her life after Richard's death The death of Richard Gilmore was written into the show to reflect the real-life passing of actor Edward Herrmann, who died in 2014. The storyline is bound to be an emotional one, and it hits every Gilmore woman hard, but particularly Emily, whose entire life revolved around her husband. After Richard's previous health scares during the original series' run, she confided to Lorelai that she didn't know who she was if she wasn't Richard Gilmore's wife. Now, she has to figure that out. The trailer makes light of this to a certain extent, depicting Emily decluttering her life (while wearing jeans -- a truly revolutionary fashion choice for a woman who typically wouldn't be caught dead in anything other than Chanel), though there are some more somber moments, too, that reflect her overwhelming grief. Expect that dichotomy to play a major role in her journey. 4. All of Rory's boyfriends are back Rory's three old boyfriends -- Dean (Jared Padalecki), Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), and Logan (Matt Czuchry) -- will all appear in at least one episode each of the revival, though it seems fair to say that they won't all play equal roles. Who, if anyone, will Rory wind up with? Based on what we've seen so far, all signs currently point to Jess, the only former paramour who has dialogue in the trailer, has appeared in a separate teaser, and has been featured in a promotional photo. That could be deliberate misdirection, though, and with lots of new characters in the mix, Rory could end up someone completely different -- or even, perhaps most fittingly, no one at all. 5. Stars Hollow is as quirky as ever Just about every resident of Stars Hollow will be returning for the revival, including Lane (still rocking out as a drummer), Taylor (still leading ridiculous town meetings), Kirk (as weird as ever, and attending Friday night dinner for some reason), Miss Patty and Babette (who are spearheading a musical about the town), and Michel (just as snarky and withering as you remember). Expect many, many more familiar faces in addition to those, and all the small town shenanigans that go with them. 6. Sookie is back! After a lot of back and forth between actress Melissa McCarthy and "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, the pair finally worked out a deal for McCarthy to reprise her role as Lorelai's BFF and co-owner of the Dragonfly. Because of McCarthy's insanely busy schedule, it will only be a small cameo, but still, a little Sookie is better than no Sookie at all. And it should come as no surprise that the lovable, accident-prone chef is still her same quirky self, as her brief appearance in the trailer teased. 7. Those final four words will be satisfying -- but also controversial "Gilmore Girls" fans have waited almost a decade to hear the famed final four words with which Sherman-Palladino originally intended to end the series, which were abandoned when she left amid a contract dispute ahead of Season 7. The creator has teased that those mysterious words -- which are spoken in dialogue, most likely between Lorelai and Rory -- are the perfect punctuation mark to the revival, and stars Lauren Graham and Milo Ventimiglia have both stated that they're a lovely, fitting end to the show. Actor Matt Czuchry, however, recently told Entertainment Weekly that he believes they'll spark a "heated debate" among the show's loyal fans -- and after nearly a decade of build-up, he's probably correct. Whatever they are, we're still excited to hear them, though it's possible that they may not be the last words the Gilmore girls ever speak. "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" premieres November 25 on Netflix. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
A 'Westworld' Crew Guy Thinks James Marsden Is Chris Pine Posted: Maybe this is the next level of the "Westworld" maze: James Marsden is the replacement host version of Chris Pine. It's possible Matthew McConaughey is the 3.0 version, 'cause Marsden proved last night on "The Late Show" that he can do a sweet McConaughey impression. On HBO, Marsden plays gunslinger Teddy, who is basically the "Westworld" answer to Kenny in "South Park." He keeps getting killed off and brought back for more torture. But apparently even on the "Westworld" set he can get confused with other actors. While talking to Stephen Colbert Tuesday night, Marsden described some experiences he's had with fans. Marsden said half of people tend to recognize him, and the other half think he's somebody else. He had a recent experience on a plane, where someone asked "Are you real?" -- so we know that person was a "Westworld" viewer and got it right -- but then Marsden described an encounter on the HBO show's set where a crew member got it wrong. This crew guy pulled Marsden aside during the shoot, explaining how it had become a family tradition for him to watch Marsden's films, including with his son. Marsden, quoting crew guy: "When I was a boy, I read the comics, and I watched the TV show with my father." Colbert was thinking this was about the "X-Men" franchise, and Marsden (who plays Scott Summers/Cyclops) probably thought the same. Marsden, as crew guy, continued: "It was a tradition that we had. And I now have a son and I do the same thing with your films. It's a part of my household, it's a tradition in my family that I cherish. Thank you for being a part of that. And God bless Captain Kirk." The audience laughed. Marsden: "I didn't have the heart to tell him I wasn't Chris Pine." Colbert: "Or he thought you were William Shatner." The maze is that deep! Since Marsden didn't tell the crew guy the truth, that guy may still be out there, telling people that he worked with Captain Kirk. Watch the full interview to see Marsden's high school photo (vs. Stephen's best photo from high school) and hear his secret to a strong McConaughey impression. Does that look like anything to you?
