Reel TV: Netflix's 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events' Looks Like a Blast

Posted: 17 Nov 2016 09:00 PM PST

It's a bit strange to think about it, but back in 2004 Nickelodeon spent a ton of money making a big-screen adaptation of the beloved children's book franchise A Series of Unfortunate Events. It starred Jim Carrey as Count Olaf, a bitter and mysterious old man who becomes the guardian of three young children after their parents die in a fire -- and while audiences generally liked the film, it wasn't a major hit considering its surprising $140 million budget. But even though the film was warmly met, many could agree on one thing: it just wasn't quite like the books.  If you happened to be one of those fans, then brace yourself for the trailer for Netflix's new show version of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Posted: 17 Nov 2016 06:00 PM PST

For those who still aren't certain what the deal is with this new Star Wars movie arriving next month, a featurette has been released that pretty much explains everything. In it, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards explains how his movie essentially takes place within the opening crawl of the very first Star Wars movie, A New Hope.  In that opening crawl it mentions how rebel spies managed to steal top secret plans that reveal how to destroy a new massive weapon the Empire is building. That weapon, of course, is the Death Star, which is destroyed by Luke Skywalker at the end of that first movie. But before the rebels used those plans, they had to steal them -- and this is a movie about how that happened.   Apart from a clear explanation of...

And yet, no sequel. Until now? While promoting Nocturnal Animals on the Today Show, Isla Fisher let slip that she ran into Vince Vaughn recently at a party, and he said there's movement on a Wedding Crashers sequel.
