'Gilmore Girls' Stars Feel 'Closure' After Revival, But Show Could Continue Posted: Will there be more "Gilmore Girls" after "A Year in the Life"? The Netflix revival leaves room for another return, but the Gilmore girls themselves seem to think this should be the end. At least for now. 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Director Confirms & Explains Reshoots Posted: Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is so hooked on that feeling it's going back for more. James Gunn's "Guardians" sequel wrapped back in June for its May 5, 2017 opening, but the cast and crew have returned for reshoots. Actress Karen Gillan (Nebula) tweeted about it Monday:
A fan asked director James Gunn if it was true that GotG2 was in reshoots. Gunn is always open with information, and he confirmed it's true, and explained why it's pretty much true for everyone:
A fan joked, "but the internet told me reshoots mean that a movies awful?!" Gunn replied:
Gunn was asked how far in advance they schedule reshoots. Here's his reply:
Another commenter added, "sometimes based on the direction of an edit a few things need to be added to smooth the flow." Gunn replied:
Just add more Baby Groot! "Reshoots" get a bad rap, but they are not indicative of much. On a scale of 1 to 10 our worry for "Guardians" is at -5. They could seriously just show two hours of dancing Baby Groot and we'd pay to see it twice, but the rest of the movie sounds great too. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Carrie Fisher Reveals 'Intense' Affair With Harrison Ford During 'Star Wars' Posted: The Force was pretty strong between Princess Leia and Han Solo, even off camera, while filming the first "Star Wars" movie. Carrie Fisher waited 40 years to open up on the three-month affair she says she had with Harrison Ford when they filmed Episode IV back in 1976. She was 19 at the time, and Ford was a 33-year-old married father of two, still with his first wife, Mary Marquardt. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Beauty and the Beast' Trailer Tops 'Fifty Shades Darker' Views Record Posted: The hotly-anticipated debut of the first full-length trailer for upcoming Disney live-action remake "Beauty and the Beast" didn't disappoint, with sumptuous cinematography, lots of looks at the curious characters populating the film, and plenty of focus on Emma Watson and Dan Stevens's titular pair. So it should come as no surprise, then, that the clip has smashed the record for most views of a film trailer in 24 hours. According to Entertainment Weekly, "Beauty" scored a whopping 127.6 million views across multiple platforms and around the world, easily topping the previous champ, "Fifty Shades Darker." Back in September, the first "Darker" trailer debuted to an impressive 114 million views in its first 24 hours online, besting the last record holder, the full-length trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which racked up 112 million views on its first day of release. What's especially impressive about "Beauty" is that it continues to generate enormous buzz, which only seems to be growing as time goes by. Its very first promo clip, which debuted back in May, was also a record-breaker, snatching the teaser trailer title away from "The Force Awakens" with 91.8 million views, versus its fellow Disney property's 88 million. (Though a bit confusing, these are indeed two separate records, with one citing the most-viewed longer -- a.k.a. full-length -- trailer, and the other highlighting shorter, teaser-length trailers.) Be our guest and check out the popular clip again for yourself below. Jessie Was Originally Hooked on Speed, Not Caffeine Pills, on 'Saved by the Bell' Posted: "Saved by the Bell" is known today as a cheesy '90s throwback, a syndicated series defined more by its silly storylines than anything really substantial. But there's one episode that stands out from the others, and fans probably already know which one we're talking about: "Jessie's Song," in which Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) gets addicted to caffeine pills. As ridiculous as that episode's premise was, it initially started out much darker, according to one of the show's producers. In an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir, "I Was Saved by the Bell: Stories of Life, Love, and Dreams That Do Come True," which was debuted by Vulture, executive producer Peter Engel reflected on that episode, which he co-wrote. According to Engel, it was important to him and the other staff writers to tackle more serious issues that reflected the lives of the show's core teen audience, and Engel came up with the idea to have Jessie become addicted to speed. Unfortunately, that idea was vetoed by NBC's standards and practices department, who according to Engel said "speed was too serious for Saturday mornings." "I insisted that we needed to start dealing with more important issues than we had in the past, and that speed was a vehicle not only for exploring drug use but also the pressure that kids put on themselves to achieve," the producer recalled. "But Standards and Practices wasn't budging." The compromise was to change the drug in question from speed to caffeine pills, and the latter was a more acceptable substitute for the network. Of course, Engel acknowledged, the idea of someone getting hooked on caffeine was inherently silly. "I wasn't pleased about it -- after all, the average caffeine pill was the equivalent of a cup of coffee, if that, so we might as well have had Jessie get addicted to earl grey, or breaking into the Max to snort coffee grounds," he wrote. "But hey, we had to start somewhere." As Engel tells it, the show's audience loved the episode, and he still hears about the impact "Jessie's Song" made on viewers. Matt Damon Will Cameo in 'Ocean's Eight' Posted: If the all-female cast of the upcoming "Ocean's Eleven" spinoff "Ocean's Eight" wasn't already impressive enough, one A-lister recently revealed that he has a cameo in the flick -- and he should be familiar to "Ocean's" fans. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Matt Damon spilled the beans that he will be making an appearance in the spinoff, though he declined to provide details about the top secret cameo. Damon starred in the original "Ocean's" trilogy -- which included the sequel films "Ocean's Twelve" and "Ocean's Thirteen" -- as the talented pickpocket Linus Caldwell, and will bring that character to the NYC setting of "Ocean's Eight," which inhabits the same cinematic universe as its predecessors. "I'm doing a little bit in the movie," the actor told ET. "I haven't read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I'm excited to see what those women do with it. It's going to be fun." We definitely agree with Damon's excitement, considering the murderer's row of talent both in front of and behind the camera of the project: The flick stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Awkwafina as the titular criminals, and is directed by Gary Ross ("The Hunger Games") and produced by original "Ocean's" director Steven Soderbergh. It centers around a heist pulled off during the Met Gala, a splashy, fashion-centric event held annually in New York City. "Ocean's Eight" is due in theaters on June 8, 2018. Michelle Dockery Embraces Being Bad on 'Good Behavior' Posted: If you think that sometimes Michelle Dockery didn't behave very ladylike on "Downton Abbey," just wait until you see how she steps right up to the edge in "Good Behavior." For her new TNT drama, Dockery steps directly from the lavish estate of early 20th Century British aristocracy into the modern world, leaving Lady Mary's fragile veneer of civility behind and embracing darker impulses. As Letty, she's a career con artist and recovering meth addict fresh out of prison and looking to rebuild her life with her 10-year-old son while still pursuing her illicit craft, and when she tries to access her more altruistic nature and help avert the contract killing of a stranger, it leads her to become entangled with an enigmatic hitman (Jaun Diego Botto), who has the potential to be her undoing ... or perhaps her salvation. It's a wholly different star turn for Dockery, who discussed why being bad feels so good with a small group of journalists. On how the new series helped her move forward from "Downton Abbey": Michelle Dockery: I was very fortunate to go from "Downton Abbey" on to this quite quickly. I like to keep working. They're two very, very different characters. So it was very different and very freeing to play someone new. On whether she was looking for a role far removed from Lady Mary: No. It just happened to come along, so I was very lucky to find something that was quite different. There are parallels with those women: Letty is a very colorful, complex character. She's much like Lady Mary was. I always have a place in my heart for that character, and I think that you kind of take your characters with you as you go on in your career. Yeah, she's someone I love to play. On whether she expects that she'll play Lady Mary again one day: We'll see. I'm open to the idea of the film. Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing if that happens. On playing characters that can be unlikable on occasion: I mean, in my experience, they're the best of characters to play! I don't think they need to be likable to like them in that sense. I think some of the best characters don't always behave well. The relationship between them is so interesting, and it is a messed up love story and a very unconventional love story, and they recognize so much in one another. In some ways, it's like a meeting of minds because they are so similar in many ways. I think Letty finds it hard to sort of exist as normal people do. I think she she gets bored very, very easily, and the dressing up part of it and becoming another character within the character is also the addiction. It's the high, you know, following people and being someone else to escape the pain or who she really is. And that has been really fun to play. It's character within character, which is a dream for an actor. I have four different wigs. They all have different names. On Letty's ever-changing array of looks, accents, and, of course, those wigs: Well, it really varies on the situation that Letty's in. With the first wig, there's a business-like quality to that character. She's very into the hotel. She wants to just get the job done, so it's like that sort of toughness to that one. Whereas the blonde one, that's a contrast because she's a little bit more fluttery, and she's flirting with Javier. So it's really fun playing those characters-within-a-character, and getting to change the accent. Actually, we decided from the very beginning that Letty was very good at that, good at accents and good at changing her persona. And a Southern accent is much easier for a British actor than a general American -- I think so, anyway. On the research discovery that helped shape her performance: I found this great documentary on Netflix called "The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne," which is a documentary about a thief who is 86 years old, and she's still at it. She, throughout her life, has put on these personas and pretended to be other people in order to go about her thieving. On her experience in America while shooting on location: I love spending time here! It's been a real change for me. It's been, obviously, a very interesting time to be here with the election coming up. It's something that I felt was always at the forefront for me, because of course being away from home, you can take your eye off the ball a little bit because you're not at home, and the politics here has been something that I've been reading about more than I normally would. It's lovely to be in a climate like this for a change. Not as much rain, and seeing different states. Spent time in North Carolina, and now in New Mexico. So I like spending time here. It's good to change it up. On what she's discovered about her career as an actor: What I've learned, I guess, is to not expect ... and to try and live in the moment as much as possible, because in a career like acting, you never really know where you're going to be. And that's what's so exciting about it, actually, is that you end up in places and with people you would never expect to meet. That's what's so lovely about the journey as an actor. "Good Behavior" premieres November 15 on TNT. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'A Wrinkle in Time' Reveals Release Date With Impressive Mannequin Challenge Posted: Director Ava DuVernay is hard at work on her upcoming big screen adaptation of classic novel "A Wrinkle in Time," but couldn't resist roping the cast and crew into participating in the latest internet craze, the Mannequin Challenge. Luckily for fans eager to learn more about the film, the fun diversion also served a dual purpose, with the clip ultimately ending on the reveal of the flick's release date.
But first, viewers were treated to an impressive display of dozens of crew members -- including camera operators, sound techs, craft service employees, hair and makeup artists, and any and every other position you can imagine that makes a film set hum -- all standing frozen in place. The camera pans through the maze of people, up the steps of what appears to be the Murray house (the home of the film's central family), where several young actors are prepping for the shoot (including recent addition Rowan Blanchard). The clip ends with DuVernay herself framing a shot of the film's main star, Storm Reid (playing Meg Murray, the protagonist searching for her missing scientist father), clutching a copy of the film's script. On the cover is scrawled the release date: April 6, 2018. "A Wrinkle in Time" also stars Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Zach Galifianakis, André Holland, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, Bellamy Young, and Will McCormack. Rooney Mara Is Mad for Love in 'The Secret Scripture' Trailer Posted: "Anything you see with love is the truth," a woman named Rose says in the trailer for Jim Sheridan's "The Secret Scripture." But love can also be blinding, as she learns over the course of her tragic life. The movie stars Rooney Mara as a beautiful young woman in 1940s Ireland. The men of the town all fall helplessly in love with her, including the stalkerish Father Gaunt (Theo James) and a dashing fighter pilot named Michael (Jack Reynor). Rose falls for Michael when she nurses him after a plane crash, and Gaunt's jealousy provokes him to alert the authorities who are looking for Michael and to send Rose to an insane mental hospital for nymphomania. Some 50 years later, older Rose (Vanessa Redgrave) recounts all of this to a psychiatrist (Eric Bana). "The Secret Scripture" does not yet have a release date. Want more stuff like this? ABC Orders New Marvel Series 'Inhumans' Posted: ABC is calling up more superheroes. The network has ordered a live-action version of Marvel's "Inhumans." The eight-episode series, slated for fall 2017, will follow Black Bolt and the Inhuman royal family. The first two episodes will play in IMAX theaters for two weeks in early September before premiering on ABC. "Inhumans" will be ABC's third Marvel series after "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the canceled "Agent Carter." Inhumans were introduced in season 2 of the former show when Skye (Chloe Bennet) evolved into an inhuman named Quake. The new series is not considered a spinoff, though, and won't have direct ties to "Agents of SHIELD." Inhumans are a race of superhumans with unique powers and abilities. Marvel initially planned to make a movie around the characters, but apparently decided it would suit television better. The comics company has quite a few TV projects in the works. They already have a full slate on Netflix, including "Luke Cage" and "The Defenders," and are working with Hulu on "The Runaways." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Bryan Cranston Can't Get Rid of James Franco in Red-Band 'Why Him?' Trailer Posted: Bryan Cranston meets his worst nightmare in the new red-band trailer for "Why Him?": James Franco. Franco plays Laird, the tattooed, foul-mouthed boyfriend of Cranston's daughter. He's an internet zillionaire with "literally no filter." He calls them "the motherf---ing Flemings," eggs on Cranston's son in cursing, and destroys their home's holiday decorations with his helicopter. "You are not the guy we want our daughter marrying," Cranston declares. Laird has a different viewpoint, though. "By Christmas morning, you're going to be calling me son and I'm going to be calling you dad.""Why Him?" is directed by John Hamburg, who also helmed "I Love You Man." Like that movie, this one looks like it takes a pretty typical movie scenario and gives it a fresh feel. The cast, which includes Megan Mullally as the mom and Zoey Deutch as the daughter, is terrific. And Franco is perfected the art of playing insufferable d-bags. "Why Him?" opens in theaters December 23. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Named People's Sexiest Man Alive Posted:
People magazine bestowed the 2016 title to the actor and former wrestling star. It's a mantle previously worn by the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and the original Sexiest Man Alive in 1985, Mel Gibson.I said, 'That's awesome.' And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is," Johnson told People. "And then I thought, 'Wow, we've pretty much reached the pinnacle.' I'm not quite too sure where we go from here. I've done it all, this is it." The 44-year-old actor's next role is voicing (and singing) the part of a sea demigod in Disney's "Moana." As Ellen DeGeneres gushed on her show, "He can sing and he can act and he can fight ..." "And smell good," The Rock interjected with a smile.Yup, he can do it all -- while looking sexy.
