'Justice League' Casts a Dumbledore As Its Villain, Steppenwolf Posted: 04 Nov 2016 08:30 PM PDT 2016 has been a strange, strange year all around. As far as movies go, though, one of the most unpredictable moments of the year came when Warner Bros. unceremoniously posted a cryptic deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice online just three days after the movie hit theaters. They didn't explain it, they just left it hanging out there for fans to dissect like some kind of new generation of post-credits scene. If you somehow don't remember that scene (which was later reinserted into Zack Snyder's Ultimate Cut of the film), it featured Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor using Kryptonian technology to interact with an unnamed, giant, alien being. Fan theories went into overdrive, with most eventually settling on the idea that it was the character... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
New 'Lego Batman Movie' Trailer Reveals the Caped Crusader's Greatest Fear Posted: 04 Nov 2016 06:30 PM PDT Warner Bros. has released the fourth trailer for The Lego Batman Movie, and we're definitely not getting tired of seeing more of this character in this sort of animated feature. There are so many opportunities for fun gags and plotlines and tangents, including a reference to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it's likely we've still only gotten a glimpse of what will be in the film. This trailer does lay out the apparent main focus of the Lego Movie spinoff, which is that Batman/Bruce Wayne (voiced by Will Arnett) is a lonely curmudgeon whose greatest fear is getting another family. He's used to being by himself, having vehicles with only one seat and he can't even commit to a relationship with a primary adversary, to the... The Geek Beat: 'The Monster,' 'Star Wars Heroes' and More Stuff to Look For This Month Posted: 04 Nov 2016 04:30 PM PDT Halloween is in the rearview mirror, but there's still a scary amount of comics, movies, and collectibles to keep an eye out for in the coming months – particularly this November. From the debut of Doctor Strange to a trio of Star Wars heroes going solo, here are some extra-cool, extra-geeky things to look for this month in stores and theaters: Doctor Strange The arrival of the Sorcerer Supreme in Marvel's cinematic universe on November 4 is no small affair, and along with a cornucopia of eye-popping visual effects, Doctor Strange also features a ridiculously impressive cast. Front and center is Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch as surgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Strange, and he's joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Rachel McAdams... Posted: 04 Nov 2016 03:00 PM PDT Today marks the official theatrical debut of the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and directed by Scott Derrickson. To those who have absolutely no familiarity with the character whatsoever, it may seem like an odd choice to add his corner of the Marvel Universe into the same fold as the likes of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. But, that could very well be the point of the whole endeavor. Our own Erik Davis already provided an overview of the new film in his review, and Comics on Film largely shares all of his sentiments. Instead, we thought we'd focus on how it fits into the MCU, and what exactly it brings to the table of one of the most popular shared narrative universes running... Olivia Munn to Star as Scientist in Shane Black's 'The Predator' Posted: 04 Nov 2016 01:30 PM PDT The fourth movie in the Predator series is already looking quite different from the other installments. That's good news for fans of the action movie franchise, which pits an alien hunter against human prey. A quick recap: the terse and terrific original starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a team of seasoned commandos who head to a Central American jungle on a rescue mission, only to find themselves hunted by a vicious manhunter from another planet. The sequel, Predator 2, moved the action to urban Los Angeles in the near future, with Danny Glover as a police lieutenant battling rival gangs when an alien predator arrives and starts taking trophies. Two spin-off movies were made in which predators battled aliens (AVP: Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
