Watch the trailer for Stephen Fung’s ‘Once a Thief’ remake Posted: 01 Nov 2016 01:00 AM PDT Stephen Fung (Gen-X Cops) is back in the director’s chair in The Adventurers, a reworking of John Woo's Once a Thief, the 1991 classic about art thieves, previously played by Chow Yun Fat, Cherie Chung and Leslie Cheung. The Adventurers stars Andy Lau (The Bodyguard), Shu Qi (The Assassin), Tony Yang (Cold War 2) and Jean Reno (Leon: The Professional). Joining them are Eric Tsang (Jian Bing Man) and Zhang Jingchu (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation). Originally, The Adventurers was planned with Huang Xiaoming, Kim Soo Hyun and Michelle Chen attached for starring roles, but for whatever reason, this entire cast fell through. The Adventurers is being described as a “loose remake” rather than a straight remake (via AFS) of John Woo’s seminal classic. Note: Director Ding Sheng (Little Big Soldier) is apparently working on his own remake of Once a Thief as well. Watch the trailer for Stephen Fung’s The Adventurers below: |

Stallone has another ‘Escape Plan’ without Schwarzenegger Posted: 31 Oct 2016 12:00 AM PDT A sequel to Mikael Håfström’s Escape Plan, the 2013 prison/action flick starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, is in the works. Here’s the word from Deadline: Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has greenlighted a sequel. Stallone is prepared to reprise the role he played in the original, this time in a supporting capacity. Miles Chapman (Road House 2: Last Call), who wrote the first one, is scripting the sequel. Pre-production will begin January 15, and the film will shoot March 15 in Ohio and China. With Schwarzenegger absent and Stallone limited to a “supporting” role, it’ll be interesting to see how the sequel will turn out. Maybe they should give Scott Adkins a call? In the meantime, fans of Stallone should be hearing more about his two mafia-oriented projects, Omerta and Scarpa, soon. Judging by some of Stallone’s recent tweets, we may see a Rambo 5. Fingers crossed. |
