Reel TV: Zack Snyder and HBO Considering a 'Watchmen' Series; 'The Lego Movie' Guys Adapt 'Serial' Posted: 01 Oct 2015 09:00 PM PDT If you're one of the many, many people who felt Alan Moore's Watchmen comic would have worked considerably better as a TV series than as a movie, we've got some potentially great news for you. However, if that's the case but you also aren't a big Zack Snyder fan, we've got some potentially heartbreaking news for you: According to Collider, Snyder is in the early stages of talking to HBO about doing Watchmen as a TV series. We don't know anything about these talks beyond the report that they're taking place. Would this be an open ended show that ran for a few seasons or would it be a contained mini-series? Would it be another adaptation of the original Watchmen or would it dip into the recently published series Before Watchmen? Either way... Watch: These NASA Videos Will Answer All Your Questions About 'The Martian' Posted: 01 Oct 2015 06:00 PM PDT Not every movie about space exploration gets to use NASA logos. As a government agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has the right to refuse representation on screen if they consider that representation a negative portrayal. Inaccuracies galore are okay, such as in the case of Armageddon, but apparently showing an astronaut murder another astronaut can get a movie like Red Planet denied. NASA can definitely benefit from a positive portrayal, while Hollywood can also benefit from not just the permission of the agency but also their glowing approval of a movie's depiction of its operations and especially its scientific accuracy. The synergy between NASA and The Martian, though, seems unprecendented. The former's YouTube channel... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
See What It Looks Like When Classic Horror-Movie Posters Come to Life Posted: 01 Oct 2015 04:30 PM PDT Happy October! For the rest of this month we'll be celebrating Halloween by posting the sort of movie-related things that make sense for this gloriously spook-ified day. Some new, some old, but all of it worth checking out. Motion posters, aka Mosters, are a cool new addition to the marketing materials that come out in promotion of major movies. Just recently we got one for Terminator Genisys that features Arnold Schwarzenegger getting his skin blown off to reveal the robot skeleton within. Although the concept has been around for a decade now, Hollywood and the movie theater industry really got on board with the idea in the last few years. They definitely weren't around 30 years ago -- but what if they had been? An artist on Imgur who goes by the... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell Star In One Fan's Awesome Marriage Proposal Posted: 01 Oct 2015 01:30 PM PDT So you're a huge Captain America fan and you're attending Salt Lake City Comic-Con with the woman you love (who's a huge Black Widow fan), and you have a chance to pose for a photo opp with Captain America himself, Chris Evans, and Cap's old flame, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). What do you do? Well, you ask that lady to marry you -- that's what you do. While posing for a photo with the Marvel stars, one dude actually did do this -- much to the surprise of his soon-to-be wife, and also to Evans and Atwell, who are just as shocked when the Cap-dressed fan got down on one knee to pop the question. Check out some photos from the moment in question, which we're sure these two lovebirds will never forget. @HayleyAtwell @ChrisEvans Because... Posted: 01 Oct 2015 12:00 PM PDT The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance: The latest classic to be resurrected by Hollywood is John Ford's 1962 Western The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, which stars Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne as a pair who once banded together against the titular outlaw, played by Lee Marvin. The new version, which will be produced by Matt Jackson (End of Watch) for Paramount, might be set in the steel industry in the 1980s. [Variety] Death Note: The next movie from director Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest) has found its lead. Nat Wolff (Paper Towns, The Intern) will star in Death Note, based on the popular Japanese comic (already very successfully turned into a movie franchise there), as a teenager who finds a magic notebook allowing him to kill...
