4 Reasons 'The Devil's Candy' Should Be on Every Horror Fan's Radar Posted: 06 Oct 2015 10:00 PM PDT While The Witch continues to be the most-lauded Satanic horror film-festival favorite, we were a little blindsided by The Devil’s Candy as a worthy demonic competitor, offering all of the rock and roll thrills that its high-brow peer does not. There’s no reason why they both can’t find an audience amongst starving horror fanatics, so we’re here to crank up the volume on one of the most fun and suspenseful indie horror offerings we saw at Fantastic Fest. Pruitt Taylor Vince is the Film’s Best Special Effect We’re pretty sure character actor Pruitt Taylor Vince is a sweetheart of a guy, but he’s made a good name for himself as an unsettling presence, usually plagued by some sort of murderous demon (as seen in The Cell... Guess How Much Carrie Fisher's 'Slave Leia' Costume Sold For at Auction Posted: 06 Oct 2015 09:00 PM PDT For the Star Wars fan that has an extra $96,000 lying around... where were you? You could've totally snatched up the original "Slave Leia" costume Carrie Fisher rocked inside Jabba's palace in Return of the Jedi! That's how much one person did in fact pay for the vintage Star Wars prop at a recent online auction hosted by Profiles in History. Who that person was and what they plan to do with Leia's bikini, we do not know -- and do we even want to know? Not sure about that one. Surprisingly (or maybe not), Leia's gold bikini wasn't the highest earner at this particular auction. The Star Wars prop that went for the most amount of money was connected to the same character, though. A miniature model of Princess Leia's... Superhero Buzz: The Joker, Lex Luthor and Why Loki Was Cut From 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Posted: 06 Oct 2015 08:00 PM PDT Call this Super Tuesday, because it's filled with superhero movie news. Check out all the updates: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Fortune profiled Lex Luthor -- the one in the upcoming DC Extended Universe installment Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, played by Jesse Eisenberg -- as if he were a real tech company mogul, and while it's mostly just a fun read for the fans and an early form of viral marketing, there are some teases about his role in the movie, including how he's actually Lex Luthor Jr., how his LexCorp compares to Bruce Wayne/Batman's Wayne Industries and how LexCorp is on "the cusp of unveiling a technology that will change the world forever." More vague details from the profile: When pressed, the youthful mogul will... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
These Three 15-second 'Steve Jobs' Reviews Show You What It Feels Like to Watch the Movie Posted: 06 Oct 2015 06:31 PM PDT Steve Jobs is a different kind of animal. You can't even call it a biopic because it's so unconventional in the way it's structured that it feels more like a chunk of intimate, behind-the-scenes home-movie footage than any kind of conventional look at the life of an iconic figure. Separated into three distinct parts, each tracking the minutes prior to three of Jobs' biggest product launches (the Macintosh, the NEXT and the iMac), the film is gutsy and chaotic and brings us so much closer to the man behind the myth than ever before. From his refusal to credit anyone for the work they've accomplished to his often heartbreaking relationship with the daughter he never wanted to acknowledge as his own, this movie reveals a different side of the man whose innovative... Just Try to Watch This Trailer for 'The Good Dinosaur' Without Crying Posted: 06 Oct 2015 02:30 PM PDT We don't know how they do it or what ingredients go into their magical cry potion, but Pixar just has a way of bringing on the waterworks -- and it's not just applied to their movies. Even the trailers for their movies get us all teary eyed and nostalgic and in search of a hug. Pixar just dropped the new trailer for The Good Dinosaur, the second film from the animation giant to come out this year (following Inside Out, aka Holy Cow, Did I Cry During That Movie) -- and, yup, this one also looks like it's gonna give you a case of the sniffled. Seriously, just try to get through this trailer without coming down with a case of the feels. The Good Dinosaur reverses the typical movie-dinosaur plot that finds humans trying to train and coexist alongside dinosaurs... Looks Like 'Straight Outta Compton''s F. Gary Gray Will Direct 'Fast & Furious 8' Posted: 06 Oct 2015 01:30 PM PDT The Fast and Furious franchise has grossed more than $3.8 billion at the box office worldwide so far. (Go ahead and take a moment to soak that in.) The most recent installment, Furious 7, has earned more than $1.5 billion of that since its release in April. While those figures are mighty impressive, what's even more impressive is that the films have remained tremendously appealing to fans, a combination of a good-looking cast, outlandish and kinetic action sequences, and stories that are resolutely focused on the importance of family. Now, of course, Universal Studios is intent on mounting a new installment, unofficially known as Furious 8. And it looks like a director has finally been chosen. Who is F. Gary Gray? According to Vin Diesel's most recent Facebook... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Niels Arden Oplev (the original Swedish version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) will direct. [Variety] Okja: Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano (who appeared together in Prisoners, above), as well as Kelly Macdonald and Bill Nighy are in various stages of discussion to join Tilda Swinton in Okja, described as a "multilingual monster movie" from Korean director Boon Joon-ho. The director's credits include action-thriller Snowpiercer as well as the monster movie The Host; the new project will reportedly...
