More 'Suicide Squad' Images: Enchantress Gets Dark and Dirty Posted: 27 Oct 2015 09:00 PM PDT This week Empire's new issue hits newstands and while the cover boasts that it contains a 30-page preview of the Oscars, that's not nearly as important as the exclusive images and interviews they snagged for Suicide Squad, one of 2016's most intriguing superhero, er supervillian, movies. We've already gotten a few new looks at The Joker and Harley Quinn out of it, but the magazine is also going to have alternate covers for most - if not all - of the key Suicide Squad members, so we'll be updating this page with all of the debuts as they hit. So far we've got: Enchantress Played by: Cara Delevingne What's her deal: Delevingne technically plays two different roles in the movie. First as June Moone, an adventure-seeker who explores the... Sequel News: Elizabeth Banks Directing 'Pitch Perfect 3,' Paul King Coming Back for 'Paddington 2' Posted: 27 Oct 2015 08:00 PM PDT Few people have had a better 2015 than Elizabeth Banks. She was in Magic Mike XXL, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Love & Mercy and soon she'll be seen in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, which will no doubt be one of the biggest movies of the year. Oh, and she also produced, directed, and acted in Pitch Perfect 2, a monster hit given its small, humble origins. While it may seem like 2015 is going to be a very hard year to top, Banks' career is only on the rise from here. Her name is already being floated around as a potential contender for some pretty high profile movies, including Captain Marvel (which still doesn't have a director) and a Charlie's Angel reboot, but now we know for sure that her next directorial project will be Pitch... 'The Ridiculous 6' Trailer: Adam Sandler and All His Friends Head to Netflix Posted: 27 Oct 2015 06:00 PM PDT Netflix got to tout its own horn a little this week when its head honcho, Ted Sarandos, revealed that their first original feature film, Beasts of No Nation, had been streamed by over 3 million people in a single week. Our own Christopher Campbell broke down that number, comparing it to some other recent prestige movies and discovered that over twice as many people had watched Cary Fukunaga's movie at home, from the comfort of their couch as had seen Steve Jobs or The Walk in theaters. That's pretty impressive, especially when we're talking about a drama about a child soldier in an African war. Netflix can probably expect their next original release to be seen by even more people. It's the Adam Sandler-led comedy The Ridiculous 6 and the first trailer for it... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Netflix Reveals How Many People Watched 'Beasts of No Nation' Posted: 27 Oct 2015 03:00 PM PDT If you only looked at box office figures over the last two weeks, Cary Fukanaga's Beasts of No Nation seems like a flop, even for how few screens it played on. But the drama, which stars Idris Elba as an African warlord, debuted on Netlix Watch Instantly the same day it opened in theaters, and a whole lot of people have seen it through that streaming service. A lot more people, in fact, than saw any one movie on the big screen in the U.S. over a single week. Here are the facts, directly from Netflix boss Ted Sarandos, via Deadline: Number of People Who Have Streamed Beasts of No Nation: Sarandos revealed that "in North America alone, has over 3 million views already." Presuming that one view equals one person, that's more than 3 million people... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
See New 'Zootopia' Images Reveal Characters for Idris Elba, Tommy Chong, J.K. Simmons and More Posted: 27 Oct 2015 01:30 PM PDT Disney's animated adventure Zootopia takes place in a melting pot of a metropolis where animals from every environment imaginable live together in relative peace and tranquility. Until the arrival of rookie police officer Judy Hopps, that is; she's the first rabbit to join the force and desperately wants to prove that she belongs. That leads Judy (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) to team up with con-artist fox Nick (voiced by Jason Bateman) to solve a mysterious case. Up until now, that's as much as knew about Zootopia, but now Disney has revealed the characters who make up the supporting cast, as well as the actors who are voicing them. Leading the way is Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Mayor Leodore Lionheart (top image). With a name like that...
