Boba Fett Origin Story Will Be Second 'Star Wars' Anthology Movie

Posted: 04 May 2015 09:22 PM PDT

Note: The above image is fan art and not official art from the upcoming untitled movie It's been rumored for quite awhile now, but today -- on Star Wars Day, of all days -- we bring word that the second standalone Star Wars movie due out in 2018 will be a Boba Fett origin story. The Wrap broke the news only hours after that film's initial director, Josh Trank (Chronicle, Fantastic Four) departed the project to pursue other ideas. So while the film awaits a new director, we can start speculating as to what kind of origin story this actually is.   Here's video of Boba Fett's initial 1978 screentest -- his real origin story. That's because we've already seen stuff with Boba Fett as a kid, adopted by his father Jango Fett -- who has a much...

New 'San Andreas' Trailer Promises To Destroy Cities Without Superheroes

Posted: 04 May 2015 07:00 PM PDT

These days you can count on blockbuster movies culminating in the destruction of an entire city, if not more. But lately that has involved superheroes punching each other while chaos rains down from the sky. There is one movie this summer, however, that promises to give you the shock-and-awe of a crumbling city without a single superhero in sight. We're talking about the earthquake disaster movie San Andreas, of course. It stars Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, and a doomsaying Paul Giamatti in a movie that promises to deliver the most ridiculous geological throwdown ever put on film. We're talking about an end-of-times rumble where the situation gets so dire, the survivors have to share the same shirt. Teasing aside, San Andreas looks like the kind...

Did You Know You Can Stay at That Ridiculous House in 'Ex Machina'?

Posted: 04 May 2015 05:30 PM PDT

Movie tourism is a big deal for a lot of cinema fans, with people making trips all over the world just to visit shooting locations and landmarks seen in their favorite films. Sometimes they can get some help from a map or an app or an official tour. When a spot used for a set is a hotel, that makes the stay so much easier. From California's Hotel del Coronado of Some Like It Hot to Connecticut's Yankee Peddler Inn of The Innkeepers, there are plenty of places you can stay the night and feel like you're in the actual movie filmed there. Now we can add the Juvet Landscape Hotel, which is seen in the new sci-fi movie Ex Machina as Oscar Isaac's character's secluded residence and A.I. research lab. Built in 2009 and located in the Vallstad valley of...

Your Nerdy Guide to Better Understanding 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

Posted: 04 May 2015 04:00 PM PDT

For more Marvel goodness, follow our Marvel Studios Countdown.   One of the things Avengers: Age of Ultron does well is reveal familiar threads and characters from the comics in clever and sometimes subtle ways. I’m not talking about Easter Eggs, where things are dropped into the background for sharp eyed comic readers to spot. I’m talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe borrowing whole cloth from the shared world we’ve known from the long-running comics. Here are just a few of our favorites.   With a Name Like Strucker’s It Has to Be Bad If S.H.I.E.L.D. has an arch-enemy, it’s this guy. He is to Hydra as Nick Fury is to S.H.I.E.L.D. While Thomas Kretschmann’s Strucker never gets to look Samuel Jackson’s Fury in...
