10 Movie Couples Who Hated Each Other in Real Life Posted: It's hard not to get caught up in the romance of movies, so it's kind of a bummer to learn that not every romantically charged onscreen couple liked each other in real life. Silver lining? At least one of the pairs grew to like each other so much, they dated for years after filming. Check out these 10 movie couples who couldn't stand each other. The 10 Most Insane 'Mad Men' Moments Posted: After seven seasons, "Mad Men" is coming to an end. But it wouldn't be "Mad Men" if it didn't plan to go out with a bang. To say goodbye, grab an old fashioned and watch the 10 craziest scenes that you'll never forget -- even if you kind of want to. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
7 TV Towns We Hope We Never Get Stuck In Posted: Fox's new miniseries, "Wayward Pines," premieres Thursday, May 14, starring Matt Dillon as a Secret Service Agent who heads to a mysterious Idaho town in search of two missing federal agents. The bucolic small town that isn't all it seems trope isn't exactly new to TV -- we've seen a good deal of villages plagued by deadly or menacing secrets on the small screen over the years. "Wayward Pines" promises to be full of shocking revelations and hair-raising twists, but how will its setting rank compared to other creepy television locales? Before you tune in, take a look at 7 TV towns we would never, ever want to get stuck in. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The 18 Best British Movies on Netflix Right Now Posted: Whether you adore swoony British period dramas like "A Room With a View" or prefer a Cockney crime drama like "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels," there's something for every stripe of Anglophile on Netflix. You can revisit a favorite comedy like "Four Weddings and a Funeral," discover a new British indie such as "Fish Tank" or "My Brother the Devil," and get your fix of Dames Helen Mirren and Judi Dench as the royalty they were born to play. Just don't wait too long since film availability is subject to change. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Star Wars: Rogue One' Adds Diego Luna as Rebel Fighter Posted: "Star Wars: Rogue One" has found another rebel with a cause. Variety reports that director Gareth Edwards has cast Diego Luna in a lead role alongside Felicity Jones for the upcoming "Star Wars" standalone film. Sources tell the publication that Luna will play a rebel fighter who teams up with Jones and others to steal the Death Star plans. The report also says that Ben Mendelsohn ("Bloodline) will play the movie's main villain. Luna first came to major notice in 2001's "Y Tu Mama Tambien," but in recent years has focused on producing and directing in his native Mexico. "Rogue One" is set in the time between Episode III and Episode IV, though rumors say it'll be closer to the events of "A New Hope." That makes sense as those stolen plans get into the hands of Princess Leia, who inputs them into R2-D2. The droid and plans then make their way to Luke Skywalker. The standalone film is scheduled for release Dec. 16, 2016. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
All the CBS TV Show Cancellations and New Fall Lineup Posted: Is CBS trying to freshen up its image? At its upfronts presentation to advertisers, the most-watched network announced it's finally doing away with the aging "CSI" after 15 years. And the highest-profile new series on the fall docket is the younger-skewing "Supergirl." CBS canceled three shows: "Battle Creek," "The McCarthys," and "Stalker." "Two and a Half Men" and "The Mentalist" concluded earlier this year. Still, the Eye still boasts strong ratings across the board for its dramas and comedies, so there are not a lot of holes to plug. Their new shows are: the comedy "Angel From Hell" with Jane Lynch as a guardian angel; medical drama "Code Black"; family comedy "Life in Pieces"; the movie adaptation "Limitless," featuring guest appearances by Bradley Cooper; and "Supergirl." Here's the new lineup for CBS: MONDAY 8 p.m. Supergirl (starting in November) 9 p.m. Scorpion 10 p.m. NCIS: Los Angeles TUESDAY 8 p.m. NCIS 9 p.m. NCIS: New Orleans 10 p.m. Limitless WEDNESDAY 8 p.m. Survivor 9 p.m. Criminal Minds 10 p.m. Code Black THURSDAY (starting in November) 8 p.m. The Big Bang Theory 8:30 p.m. Life in Pieces 9 p.m. Mom 9:30 p.m. Angel From Hell 10 p.m. Elementary( FRIDAY 8 p.m. The Amazing Race 9 p.m. Hawaii Five-O 10 p.m. Blue Bloods SUNDAY 8 p.m. Madam Secretary 9 p.m. The Good Wife 10 p.m. CSI: Cyber This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Josh Duhamel's 5 Favorite Movie Soundtracks Posted: Josh Duhamel is known for playing heartthrobs and action heroes, but in his new movie, "Bravetown," he shows off his wise side as a therapist to a young, troubled teenager who finds his passion in being a DJ. To celebrate the release of "Bravetown," we asked Josh what he thinks are the five best movie soundtracks -- and he absolutely nailed it. "Bravetown" is available on iTunes and VOD now. '28 Months Later' Is (Finally) Happening, Following Alex Garland's Story Posted: A third movie in the "28 [Timeframe of Choice] Later" We still don't know the idea, but Alex Garland -- who wrote "28 Days Later" (2002) and had a distant connection to "28 Weeks Later" (2007) -- told Indiewire a third movie is moving forward with producer Andrew McDonald, based on an idea Garland came up with himself. "About two years ago, Danny started collaborating on the potential to make 'Trainspotting 2,' another sequel," Garland said. "In that conversation, an idea for '28 Months' arrived. I had a sort of weird idea that popped into my head. Partly because of a trip I'd taken. I had this thought, and I suggested it to Andrew and Danny, but I also said I don't want to work on it. I don't really want to play a role, and Andrew said, 'Leave it to me.' So he's gone off and is working on it." Awesome. No further details were shared, but it's good to hear that 1) they waited for a worthy idea and 2) a key producer is on board to deliver. Hopefully Danny Boyle decides to come back to direct this one, and we wouldn't say no to an appearance from Cillian Murphy. The undead are more popular than ever -- thanks in part to AMC's "The Walking Dead," which launched in 2010 -- so hopefully this movie moves as fast as the "28 Days" infected and does not shuffle slowly like most zombies. Haunting 'Crimson Peak' Trailer Promises Highbrow Horror This Halloween Posted: "Ghosts are real, that much I know..." so begins the new trailer for director Guillermo del Toro's supernatural mystery, "Crimson Peak." The atmospheric horror film has perfectly timed its release for October 16, 2015. Nothin' like a creepy haunted house on Halloween! There's a "Jane Eyre" meets "Rebecca" and Coppola's "Dracula" vibe to the movie, which stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, and Charlie Hunnam. That's quite a cast (Jessica + Tom = Must Watch Opening Night), and with del Toro behind the camera, we're expecting the best kind of haute horror. What's the movie about? Here's the summary from Universal and Legendary Pictures: "When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak." That flowery synopsis could give you the vapors on its own! Tom Hiddleston, though. And Jessica Chastain. Just watch them as sexy, sinister siblings in this trailer. It's worth moving into a haunted (and probably deadly) house just to spend more time with them. See James McAvoy Transform Into Bald Xavier For 'X-Men Apocalypse' Posted: It's never too early to geek out over the next "X-Men" movie, "X-Men: Apocalypse." Thankfully, Bryan Singer understands. Or maybe he just enables. Either way, the "X-Men" sage keeps a solid Instagram, and the other day he shared a photo of James McAvoy in mid-transformation to become the bald version of Professor Charles Xavier. In case you can't read the caption, it's "#Xavier reborn (in process) #jamesmcavoy #XMEN #XMenApocalypse @xmenmovies." Here you go: James McAvoy is so fine even his bald profile is sexy. Then again, same to Patrick Stewart. Most of the recent cast members are returning for this sequel to "Days of Future Past" -- including McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence -- with several newcomers joining the fold, including Oscar Isaac , as Apocalypse. The magic is happening now, but we won't see it for another full year. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled for a May 27, 2016 release. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Surprise and Relief Posted: I don't know about you, dance fans, but I really have only one thing to say: Whew! Totally excellent results. The "Dancing with the Stars" results are a huge surprise, but I'm fine with them. But let's talk a bit about the rest of the show first. I'll be honest, most of this show feels like filler to me. The results shows often do, but I don't care much for most of the performances tonight. The "Almay Simply American Experience" routine has some fun choreography in it, but I do not like the singer's raspy, shouting voice at all. The VFX crew has way too much fun with the "Women of DWTS" routine, turning them all into robots and holographic images, but the dancing is mostly strutting and posing, drawing an extremely thin line between choreography and objectification. The "Teen Beach 2" number is very cute - and I have to confess, I loved the first" Teen Beach Movie" (is it really "one of the biggest cable movies of all time"?), but the dancing is a little lower in energy than the music, which feels incongruous. I do love Christopher Scott's choreography though. Some of the video packages are interesting. I especially love the "time capsule" training log, which offers a glimpse behind the scenes at the making of the show, and gives a fun, insightful recap of the season while still treating us to new footage. I also enjoy hearing the pros sum up the remaining contestants. I'm so glad to see Sharna in the final four. I really admire her. The pros really work overtime tonight, especially the women. I confess I don't really care for Emma and Sasha's dance tour through history, as much as I really admire both of these dancers. "DWTS" is clearly trying to compete with the awesome dance videos on YouTube, like this one, but they don't do it as well. And that is definitely not what the 1914 fox-trot looks like. The fox-trot, especially, is a fascinating dance because it's a completely different animal (get it?) in the 19-teens than it is in the 1930s. The teens version is usually in a slow-slow-quick-quick-quick-quick rhythm, which we barely see anymore, using very straight legged, percussive, bouncing steps that looked more like actually trotting. The smoothed out steps and varied rhythms we see now came along much later, in the '30s. Yes, I'm showing my historical dance background, but as a scholar, I take this stuff seriously. The primary reason the show feels like filler, for me, is that they give the results of my favorite couple (I'm sure you know who that is) very early on. After that, I'm not nearly so concerned about the rest of the show. Though I definitely appreciate that they give Noah time to talk about that proposal, and I love that he asked Riker if it was ok. Noah and Sharna are given their results first, right at the top of the show, and I'm afraid they'd be safe simply because they're first. But no, they're in jeopardy. Riker and Allison find out second that they're safe! Hooray! Then both of the remaining couples, Nastia & Derek and Rumer & Val, are in jeopardy, and ultimately-shockingly-Nastia goes home! I suspect that most people, myself included, thought either Riker or Noah would be eliminated, but it's Nastia. I suspect it's because of what the pros say in their analysis: Val says that Nastia's being so perfect makes her "a bit uninteresting," and Sharna says Nastia "needs a human moment." It's interesting to remember that she seemed like such a shoo-in at the beginning, and now she's done; an exquisite, if bittersweet, reminder that dancing is not just about perfect steps. So, what about you, dance fans? Are you pleased with the results? Are you shocked that Nastia is out? Who do you think will take the Mirror Ball in next week's finale? 'CSI' to End With TV Movie After 15 Years on CBS Posted: Fifteen seasons. Fifteen years. Talk about a good run. "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" premiered back on October 6, 2000 and it's finally ending on September 27, 2015. It's not a shock to see the series end -- how long would you expect it to go on? -- but CBS made it official today, adding that the show will close with a two-hour TV movie starring OGs William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger. Season 15 already aired 18 episodes from September 2014 to February 2015, and the writing was on the wall when CBS cut the episode order by four. But at least they are giving the show a TV movie with the original cast, instead of just coldly announcing "You're canceled." In more positive news, current "CSI" star Ted Danson will just move on over to the Patricia Arquette spinoff, "CSI: Cyber." So it's not like they're giving up on the franchise. But it's truly the end of an era to see the original modern crime procedural fade to black. This is the show that popularized forensic science as something cool, and darn near badass. And it's not too shabby to still earn more than 7 million viewers and a 1.1 rating after 15 seasons. Those were the Season 15 finale numbers, and that was without fans knowing for sure that this would be The End, so CBS can probably expect even better numbers for the 9/27 TV movie. Will you be tuning in for the big farewell? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Sylvester Stallone: Manny Pacquiao Will NOT Be in 'The Expendables 4' Posted: Poor Pacman is just full of fail lately. Not that it would be a career high for Manny Pacquiao to join "The Expendables." That would be sad. He may even be declared the winner to miss this fight. But rumors were flying that Manny would join "Expendables 4" ... until Sylvester Stallone just knocked them out. TMZ Sports' paparazzi talked to Sly while he was trying to get into his car, asking about Manny in "Expendables 4." Was it true, they asked, that Manny was going to be in the movie if he had won the Mayweather fight? "Of course," Sly said, deadpan. "Yeah, he was going to teach us all how to box." TMZ asked if there was a role for him since he lost. "No, Pacquiao was never going to be in it," Stallone said, softening the blow with a note that "He's a great fighter." TMZ noted that Manny and Sly are friends, and past fighters like Victor Ortiz, Randy Couture and Ronda Rousey were in "Expendables 3," so it's not out of the question to include Pacman in the fourth movie. But Pacman is apparently out. However, an R rating is in. Back in November, Stallone talked to Crave Online about the mistake of making the third movie PG-13, with the plan to return to an R. "Absolutely unequivocally yes. I believe it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone's part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I'm quite certain it won't happen again." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Disney Reveals Pixar's Hidden Easter Eggs (So Far) in Official Video Posted: This is why you have to watch Pixar movies multiple times -- at least once just for the story, one more time for the jokes you missed the first time, a third to appreciate the visuals, and a dozen more times to make sure you caught all the Easter eggs tying the movie to the rest of the Pixar canon. Many Pixar fans have expertly scoured past movies to sleuth out secret clues, but this is the first time Disney has gotten in on the act itself. Not too long ago, Disney posted a 2 minute, 21 second video called "Pixar Hidden Easter Eggs & Secrets," showing the subtle and not-so-subtle objects that appeared in one Pixar movie and were then referenced in another. Check it out: You may have already noticed all of those Easter eggs (especially the obvious ones from "Finding Nemo" to "Monsters Inc." to "Toy Story"), but there's always someone who's just seeing them for the first time. Plus, this is just the start. As Disney teased in the description, "What other Disney movies have you spotted the Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck in?" Almost all of them! There's only one Pixar movie (so far) that has not included it. Do you know which one? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This 'Jem and the Holograms' Trailer Is Truly Outrageous to '80s Childhoods Posted: They are slowly killing our childhoods, one toy at a time. The Cabbage Patch Kids are probably next - live action Preemies using iPhones and crushing on One Direction. It's coming. The first trailer was just released for the "Jem and the Holograms" movie that is apparently directed toward young girls of today, not the young girls who grew up watching "Jem" from 1985-1988 and spent all that time brushing the dolls' colorful hair. "Hannah Montana" already stole some pages from the "Jem" playbook, but this live action remake uses the names of the original characters and their basic situation -- a singer named Jerrica (Aubrey Peeples) with an alter ego named Jem becomes famous with her sister Kimber (Stefanie Sott) and foster sisters, Aja (Hayley Kiyoko) and Shana (Aurora Perrineau), while falling for a guy named Rio (Ryan Guzman) who can't tell that Jem and Jerrica are the same person. Here's the trailer: We do hear Jerrica/Jem drop the quote "Showtime Synergy," which hints to some Synergy action (which we'd need for the Holograms, no?), but we don't see the Misfits or the Starlight girls or the Stingers. We do, however, see a lot of Be Careful What You Wish For rock star clichés. Fame is rough, y'all! Some toy story reboots have been very successful -- "Transformers," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "G.I. Joe" -- but this one may be a tough sell. It's not likely to inspire '80s fans to jump on board and it may not be much of a draw for the younger crowd either. But it may be too soon to judge on that front. Still, commenters have already judged it -- harshly -- using it as a chance to get back on the soapbox with another chant of "Leave Our Childhoods Alone." "Jem and the Holograms" will be released on October 23, 2015, so we'll have to see how well (or poorly) it does, and within which demographics, then predict what it might mean for future adaptations. Rebel Wilson on That 'Pitch Perfect 2' 'Wrecking Ball' Scene Posted: Rebel Wilson may make coming in like a wrecking ball look easy, but she had some pretty intense training for that mortifying "Pitch Perfect 2" aerial acrobatic scene; she was coached for a whole five weeks for the minutes-long scene. So, is Rebel planning on making aerial acrobatics a hobby? Watch and find out. "Pitch Perfect 2" hits theaters Friday, May 15. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Best of Late Night TV: Adam Sandler's Awesome Letterman Ode, Anna Kendrick's Egg Russian Roulette Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. David Letterman is ending his show next week, May 20, so he has major guest after major guest lined up every night. Last week, President Obama stopped by, and on Tuesday night, former President Bill Clinton joined Dave on "Late Show." Clinton talked about his possible return to the White House with Hillary as POTUS, and how his perspective has changed as Grandpa to little Charlotte, who is 7.5 months old. Adam Sandler was also on "Late Show" and he performed a sweet, funny and beautiful tribute to Dave. (Love the "blow" line re: the Jimmys.) This is what Sandler really does best. "Pitch Perfect 2" star Anna Kendrick was on "The Tonight Show" and she played Jimmy Fallon's classic "Egg Russian Roulette." She was the first woman to do the game, which is a bit odd, but she and Jimmy were both really nervous about getting the yolk on their heads. Terry Crews was also on Fallon's show and he shared the story of his worst summer job, which started out as his best job: James Corden also had a great night on "The Late Late Show," including ... was that a cameo from Justin Bieber on drums at the end? Susan Sarandon, Brooklyn Decker, and Tori Kelly were all guests on "The Late Late Show." Susan Sarandon talked about her first grandmother's day this year, and she also discussed the reality of vampires. And now you must watch these three alternate endings of "Thelma & Louise" with James and Susan showing what *could* have happened after that car launch: SNL's Leslie Jones was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and she discussed her favorite SNL moments, basketball, riding a horse for the first time, Jim Carrey's "sexy" beard, her obsession with James Spader (love it), and how she handles Twitter haters. Basically, she'll put you on blast. Reese Witherspoon was on "Conan" and they shared some of her old child modeling photos. She was intense! As they joked, she may have invented Blue Steel back in 1991. She also discussed her elaborate food Instagrams; she tries to go the extra mile for her son, who will not eat anything. Adam Devine was also on "Conan" and explained why the Coast Guard is now mad at "Workaholics." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.
