Here's one of The Doof Warrior by Kareem Ahmed (via Geek Tyrant): Oh, and for you who specifically can't get enough of Doof, here's a new tour-style t-shirt (via Fashionably Geek): While we're still on the subject of Fury Road, here's a recut of the trailer to imagine it's a Mario Kart movie (via Geekologie): This recut trailer imagines The... Film Face-off: 'Poltergeist' 1982 vs 'Poltergeist' 2015 Posted: 26 May 2015 09:00 PM PDT Disclaimer: No matter how this Film Face-off ends up, or what we all think of this remake, your childhood memories have not been ruined. The original film still exists the same as it always has. It has been 33 years, and with every other notable horror franchise getting rebooted in some sort of way, it was only a matter of time before we got a new Poltergeist. So, let's see if they could maintain, or possibly improve upon one of the scariest PG-rated horror films of all time. It's 1982 versus 2015. The Tagline Poltergeist (1982) They're here. Poltergeist (2015) They know what scares you. Winner: 1982. First, let's take a minute and discuss the use of "they." Both... 'Back to the Future Part II' in Real Life: A New Hoverboard World Record and Inside-Out Jeans Posted: 26 May 2015 07:30 PM PDT We're almost midway through 2015, and we still don't have (commercial) flying cars or dehydrated pizza. But fans of Back to the Future Part II shouldn't be too disappointed with the way this year has turned out. Just check out the following updates on two aspects of that movie's version of 2015 that actually exist: New World Record for Hoverboard Did you know Guinness monitors the world record for farthest flight by a hoverboard? It's true, and the new holder of that record is a man named Catalin Alexandru Duru. His homemade propeller-based hoverboard went a distance of 275.9 meters (905 feet, 2 inches) in Quebec last august. Over water. That means Duru is no bojo and gave his board plenty of power. It also hovered five meters above the surface... Your Favorite Thing Today: The Vehicles of 'Mad Max: Fury Road' In LEGO Form Posted: 26 May 2015 06:00 PM PDT If there's one summer movie that's already dominating pop-culture conversations, it's Mad Max: Fury Road. From its feminism slant to its outrageous characters and world, there's a little something for everyone to dissect and devour when it comes to George Miller's post-apocalyptic masterpiece. One of the nerdiest fan-made creations that we've seen so far comes from Flickr user LEGO Will (via Slashfilm), who got creative by transforming existing LEGO pieces into recreations of the badass vehicles from Mad Max: Fury Road. Check out some of these pics... We like how a certain classic geek movie came in with an assist on building out Immortan Joe's suped-up 1959 Cadillac. And of course no Fury Road LEGO set... The Geek Beat: 7 Classic Geek-Friendly Franchises That Deserve A Sequel Posted: 26 May 2015 03:00 PM PDT It seems pretty safe to say that Mad Max: Fury Road is a bona fide success at this point. The new installment of director George Miller's post-apocalyptic wasteland saga is earning near-universal praise from critics while raking in box-office revenue, and yet the most impressive aspect of Fury Road's success just might be the fact that it's the follow-up to a film released more than 30 years ago. This year's movie slate also features sequels for the Star Wars and Jurassic Park franchises that pick up where Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi left off 32 years ago and Jurassic Park III concluded a mere 14 years ago, respectively. If nothing else, it's proof that it doesn't take a reboot to make everything old feel new again. Given all of this... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch: Pixar's Deleted Animated Scene from 'Tomorrowland' Posted: 26 May 2015 01:30 PM PDT Brad Bird got his start in animation (he directed both The Iron Giant and The Incredibles), so it would be totally appropriate for him to include animation in his live-action work. Unfortunately, we never got to see a cartoon Tom Cruise running around in a special sequence of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. And also unfortunately, we won't get to see the animated sequence produced for his latest, Tomorrowland, as part of the movie. But we do at least get to see it online. Check it out below. This little animated short, created by the folks at Pixar, functions as a backstory prequel laying out some alternate history informing the plot of the feature, which is inspired by the same-named section of Disney's theme parks. Here we learn that Jules Verne, Thomas... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

First we have Paul Rudd (as the titular hero) flanked by Evangeline Lilly and her estranged father Michael Douglas (as Hank Pym, technology creator). Next we have Lilly, Douglas, and the very tiny villain Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll), and lastly a picture of suited-up Rudd, facing off with an ant. Look for the movie in theaters on July 17. [Empire] It: Cary Fukunaga (TV's True Detective), who was set to direct a two-part big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's massive novel It, has departed the project. Production was scheduled to begin this summer, with Will Poulter (We're the Millers) in negotiations to play the villainous lead role, Pennywise, but now all plans are on hold...
