New on DVD/Blu-ray: 'Get Hard,' 'The Gunman,' and the Unbelievable Russian Movie 'Hard to Be a God'

Posted: 01 Jul 2015 09:30 PM PDT

Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart don't bother with political correctness Get Hard: Before it hit theaters earlier this year, Get Hard was getting hammered by critics complaining that its brand of humor was racist, homophobic, and all around outdated. And while it's easy to see where those complaints would come from, they're a bit misguided. Sure, there are stereotypes in the movie, but they're only there to point out how absurd they are. Yes, it's dumb that a millionaire white guy assumes that the one black guy he knows went to prison. Yes, it's filled with jokes about prison rape. The backwards mindset of its main character is kind of the point. Anyways, this is just a short way of saying that Get Hard is definitely not a politically correct movie, but it's...

Paul Thomas Anderson to Write and Possibly Direct 'Pinocchio' for Robert Downey Jr.

Posted: 01 Jul 2015 06:30 PM PDT

Disney may be the king of the jungle when it comes to turning classic animated movies into live-action box office titans, but they're about to get some very stiff competition from Warner Bros.. The Hollywood Reporter is sharing news that Robert Downey Jr.'s previously-announced Pinocchio movie has just attracted some serious A-list talent in the form of writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson. Yes, the guy who made Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood is working on a live-action Pinocchio movie. This is a real thing. According to THR, Anderson is only writing the project for now and then will decide later if he also wants to direct. Downey Jr. would star as the toy maker Geppetto who creates the titular wooden boy. Apparently the two have been friends for some time...

'London Has Fallen' Trailer: How Can the Same Thing Happen to the Same Guys Twice?

Posted: 01 Jul 2015 03:30 PM PDT

"Oh, man, I can't f--king believe this. Another basement, another elevator. How can the same s--t happen to the same guy twice?" There's a great moment in Die Hard 2 when John McClane takes a second to acknowledge that it's really pretty ridiculous that he's going through yet another hostage scenario. And since the surprise 2013 hit Olympus Has Fallen was basically Die Hard in the White House, we're kind of hoping that Gerard Butler's character has a similar moment of self-awareness in next year's sequel, London Has Fallen. If he does, they've kept it out of the first teaser trailer for the movie, which oddly never truly shows off returning stars Butler and Aaron Eckhart. However it does show that the POTUS and his new Secret Service...
