See First Shot of New 'Ghostbusters' Cast in Full Costume

Posted:

2014 TIFF - Bill Murray Day"Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig has been a tweeting machine lately, sharing photos of the reboot's car, costumes, and now the core cast in costumes by their Ecto-1 car. Check out this shot of Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon hanging with their sweet ride: If he's asking, we'd probably call Tim Gunn and the "Project Runway" crew to design more flattering outfits, but that's clearly not a key concern of the Ghostbusters. They are badasses in action (Kate's pose wins) and those unique boots are functional ... or so we hope.

"Ghostbusters" is set for a July 22, 2016 release, co-starring Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, and Cecily Strong, with Neil Casey as the main villain.

Full 'Fear the Walking Dead' Trailer Is Finally Here: Watch Spinoff Slay

Posted:

Yes! AMC doubled down on the "Dead" today at Comic-Con 2015. After sharing the big "Walking Dead" Season 6 trailer, they shared the first 3-minute trailer for the zombie show's spinoff/companion series, "Fear the Walking Dead," which is set at the dawn of the apocalypse.

Up to this point, we had only seen little teasers for "Fear," and it was hoped -- but not known -- if they would show more footage, since Season 1 is only meant to be six episodes, premiering Sunday, August 23 at 9 p.m. on AMC. But we were all very good this year, so here's the full shebang:

You know, we weren't sure what to think about this one, but that trailer has us hooked. This looks better than we expected, like a classic horror movie, but hopefully the trailer didn't give away too much, since there are only those six episodes in Season 1. AMC already said yes to a full Season 2, though, for 2016, so if we like it we can look forward to more.

"Fear the Walking Dead" starts Sunday, August 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.

Josh Hutcherson on Rocketing to Fame With Jennifer Lawrence: 'We Had Each Other'

Posted:

Comic-Con International 2015 - Day 1 Even after rising to heartthrob status thanks to his role as Peeta Mellark in "The Hunger Games," Josh Hutcherson has stayed humble and level-headed. His key to not getting too caught up in the spotlight is simple, but effective.

"I think it's all about balance," he told Moviefone Contributing Editor Jessica Wedemeyer at this year's Comic-Con. "It's a world you can get really sucked into easily."

In addition to staying smart, he also reveals that he's got a great support system. "Thankfully, I had a great base around me: family and friends and co-workers who I can trust. So that keeps me on track. I blame my parents for how they raised me and the ideas they gave me and all that stuff."

When Hutcherson originally landed his breakout role, he didn't really know how big of a hit the movies would be. "I wasn't really aware of what I was getting myself into when I said yes [to making 'The Hunger Games']," he said. "I think it's really made me grow to learn that sometimes in life things are not really in your control. You have to learn to adapt and be happy and face the consequences -- these challenges -- with fervor and gumption and really just keep your way and keep your head on straight."

A big benefit of starring in such a franchise is making long-lasting friends and watching them grow and change right in front of your eyes. That includes Willow Shields, who plays the kid sister to Katniss Everdeen, Primrose, who Hutcherson said has changed the most since the first film came out in 2012.

"She's gone from being 10 to an adult now," he said. "It's pretty insane. She's so intelligent and well spoken and everything. But also I think all of us have gone through big changes -- Jen especially. She kind of came into the world and she got put on such an intense spotlight from this movie -- and that's a really big change to go through. But thankfully we had each other and we've gone through it together. That's made it easier, for sure."

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" hits theaters November 20th.

Watch Official 'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Trailer (Plus Spoilers)

Posted:

Claimed! "The Walking Dead" Season 6 Comic-Con trailer just made its official debut today (Friday, July 10) at San Diego Comic-Con. A slightly shorter version was leaked online last night, but the full trailer has an extra 30 seconds a the start, before Enid walks through the gate, extending the footage to more than 4 minutes. That super-size length is perfect for the Season 6 premiere, which was announced to be 90 minutes, starting Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.

Here's the full trailer:

The trailer certainly leaves us with a lot of questions. Will almost everyone be against Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) this season, including his two BFFs? We figured Mr. All Life Is Precious Morgan Jones (Lennie James) might have concerns about The Ricktator's kill-or-die strategy -- and the trailer includes Morgan's voice saying, "I know Rick, I can stop him" -- but it looks like maybe Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) could disagree with Rick too. Probably not really though, since the trailers are always misleading, with quotes moved around and visuals definitely positioned to send us down the wrong path.

This trailer not only focuses on Team Rick vs. Team Alexandria, it also ends with Daryl appearing to be in danger. But that's probably more trolling to get the Daryl fans in a tizzy. But who ties up Daryl and points a gun at him, demanding that he not say sh-t or he'll be killed? One of The Wolves or a different threat, since that particular guy did not have a "W"? (Some fans seem to think this guy is Kirk, a new character announced for this season. Didn't see much of Heath, though.)

*Warning: Walking Dead comic book spoilers referenced ahead*

Who is Rick pointing a gun at in his "Do you have any idea who you're talking to" speech? In the comic book, that speech -- which ends with a great "united we stand" rally -- was from Rick to Nicholas in Issues 89-90, when Nicholas says everything was fine before Rick showed up, then pulls a gun on Glenn, Maggie and everyone in his anti-Rick rant. But the TV show has already given Nicholas a different Glenn storyline, so would they also add this to his pile? If so, it may just make Glenn look worse for letting Nicholas continue to live. The trailer wants to make it seem like Rick is pointing his gun at Morgan, and they seem to want us to think Deanna Monroe is pushing for Morgan to take charge instead of Rick, but Rick and Morgan will probably end up on the same side, with Rick as leader. If they don't give this exact gun-in-face moment to Nicholas, could they remix it with someone else?

Several shots (including Jessie hiding) also suggest a massive herd attack on Alexandria, which would fit with the comic book storyline -- unlike the Morgan vs. Rick stuff. In the comic, after a standoff with The Scavengers (The Wolves seem like a TV remix) at the Alexandria gate, the noise draws a huge group of walkers and the Alexandria Safe-Zone is breached. By that point, Rick was fully in charge, with the leader (Douglas Monroe in the comics) going a bit mad. The TV show has changed so much -- not only with Deanna losing both her husband and one of her sons, but also with the new twist of adding Zen Morgan to the mix -- that it's hard to know what might happen. (Will Carl still lose an eye or not?) There were shots of Enid in there, so we might get her backstory, along with whatever is happening outside the wall with Daryl. Neither Enid nor Daryl is even in the comic book, so they could do anything.

A ton of stuff will be coming out at Comic-Con, but here's a portion of showrunner Scott Gimple's vague Q&A with Entertainment Weekly:

Should we assume, then, that there are some other threats in season 6 in addition to the Wolves?
There are multiple threats, even in the first half of the season. And sort of different versions of threats we've seen before. The first three episodes are quite intense, and the cast and crew are - we just shot them out of a cannon directly into another cannon that we shot them out of again. The first three episodes are - we say every year, "Ah, it's so crazy" and everything, and it has been crazy - but the first three episodes this year and the things that we're doing are very big and very difficult, and we're pushing people hard, and in some ways I think we're going to be pushing the audience hard. I'm pretty excited and terrified about it.

"Walking Dead" trailers traditionally include footage from up to the first 5-6 episodes, since they are still filming the season and they usually get through the epic Episode 8 midseason finale in August. We're now extra excited for those first three episodes, as well as the rest of the 16-ep season. Are you pumped?

"The Walking Dead" Season 6 starts Sunday, October 11 on AMC, with a 90-minute premiere.

'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Premieres October 11 With 90-Minute Episode

Posted:

UPDATE: Christmas is here! The big Season 6 trailer is now available for viewing, and the premiere date was confirmed as Sunday, October 11, 2015. Season 6, Episode 1 will be 90 minutes, bumped up from the usual 60 minutes. Woo hoo! Here's AMC confirming it all:

Not sure yet what that means for "Talking Dead," but it may just air at 10:30, like they did after the 90 minute Season 5 finale.

Original story:

The "Dead" will rise very soon! AMC's "The Walking Dead" and "Fear the Walking Dead" will have back-to-back panels at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 10. The main show is going first, staging its Season 6 panel at 12 p.m. PDT (3 p.m. for East Coasters) in Hall H. That is traditionally when they debut the big first trailer with enticing (but often misleading) footage from the first five or six episodes. That may also be when we get confirmation on the official premiere date. There's no saying they will definitely do that this year, but don't be surprised if the trailer includes the premiere date at the end, and don't be surprised if it's something like Sunday, October 11. It's definitely a Sunday in October.

Speaking of needing a specific release date, the same goes for "The Walking Dead" spinoff that's not really a spinoff/prequel that's not really a prequel. "Fear" is playing Skipper to TWD's Barbie, holding its own panel from 1-2 p.m. PT in Hall H on July 10. Since this show is brand new, we can only guess that they too will share the official August premiere date and also provide a real trailer instead of the very brief premiere teasers that've aired so far.

Dave Erickson is the showrunner of FTWD, which just shared some exclusive new photos with Entertainment Weekly. In that story, Erickson emphasized that the L.A.-based story is about a "dysfunctional blended family" and the zombie apocalypse just happens to launch while they're in the middle of their other crap.

Here's how he put it:

One of the things that Robert [Kirkman] and I discussed from the very beginning was, we're starting a little earlier in the apocalypse. And what that allowed us to do in the pilot and season 1 is establish our core family, establish the problems and the conflicts that they have, and really let that be the initial world that we live in. And we layer in the onset of the apocalypse, we layer in our first walkers, but it's really an effort to exacerbate the problems that already exist with Kim Dickens' character and Cliff Curtis' character and their sort of dysfunctional blended family. It's really filtering the apocalypse through that."

Long story short, clear your afternoon next Friday, July 10, and get ready to watch potentially two major new "Dead" trailers. We're especially looking forward to dissecting the Season 6 trailer, which should showcase Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones's (Lennie James) latest meeting, more conflict in Alexandria, and a showdown with The Wolves.

'Pretty Little Liars' Boss Calls BS on 'Fired' Employee's 'A' Spoilers

Posted:

"Pretty Little Liars" Season 6 is in full swing and fans are still looking for the truth about "A." They may have to keep searching, since PLL boss Marlene King shot down juicy rumors floating around Reddit from a supposedly fired employee. A thread titled "I just got fired for failing a drug test from warner brothers" had this NSFW description:

Was a PA on PLL. I was working during the finale and pretty much every episode through s6. I think I know enough.

Ask me anything. Like i give a fuck anymore.

EDIT: Will probably be deleting this soon. I've sobered up and this seems like a bad idea all of a sudden. Last looks, i'll give you 30 minutes or something."

It's not deleted yet, so you can read exchanges like this, with the alleged former PA as "[deleted]":

Liam Hemsworth's Bond With Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence Is Even Closer Than You Think

Posted:

Comic-Con International 2015 - Day 1 Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence, and Josh Hutcherson have been squad goals ever since the first "The Hunger Games" movie was released in 2012. And now, after finishing up "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2," their bond is stronger than ever.

"We've always had such a close relationship with each other," Hemsworth told Moviefone Contributing Editor Jessica Wedemeyer at this year's Comic-Con. "We always got along. We always really enjoyed being around each other. We literally know everything about each other. These people know more about me than most people in the world -- too much probably! It'll be a lifelong friendship."

When it comes to spending time together, the trio likes to keep things pretty casual. "We don't do a lot -- usually just sit around and talk a lot of bullsh*t, pretty much. There's a lot of giggling and talking nonsense," he said.

So after being thrust into the spotlight along with Lawrence and Hutcherson, does Hemsworth feel like his new friendships and job came with too big of a price? "I try not to regret anything in my life. I try to learn from whatever I do."

Don't worry though, if he does find himself feeling a little overwhelmed, he's got a plan. "Any time I do feel that feeling of regret, I try to look at it from a subjective point of view and try to figure out what I can learn form that situation. You can't change what's happened. It's happened, and as long as you move forward in a positive way, I think that's kind of the best thing to do."

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" hits theaters November 20th.

'Homeland' Season 5 Teaser: Carrie Called 'Naive and Stupid,' Then Kidnapped?

Posted:

Sheesh. Poor Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes). When "Homeland" Season 5 starts on Showtime this fall, more than two years will have passed since the events of Season 4. The time jump won't exactly show us a happily ever after for Carrie, who has left the CIA and now works in Germany. In a new teaser, we see Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) tell Carrie, "You're being naive and stupid - something you never were before." He also asks her, "What are you atoning for?" She says, "I'm not atoning, I'm just trying to do good work." Later, we see her apparently kidnapped and dragged away. There are some quick shots of Quinn (Rupert Friend) but no real status updates when it comes to a Carrie/Quinn relationship. A lot can change in two years.

Here's the teaser:

And here's the synopsis Showtime shared with the teaser:

Premiering this fall, Homeland will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison's ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the 'war on terror,' Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working as the head of security for a German philanthropist."

'Homeland" Season 5 is expected to premiere in September, although no specific date has been released yet. Are you in?

These Are the 10 Most Toxic Superheroes of 2015: Click If You Dare

Posted:

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... Cybercrime! Maybe computer hacking isn't the most exciting supervillain power, but it is quite damaging. The folks at Intel Security just released their 2015 list of "Most Toxic Superheroes" -- timed for San Diego Comic-Con, when more people are searching online about superhero movies/shows/characters.

As Intel noted:

Research conducted by Intel Security revealed the top superheroes most likely to be targeted by cybercriminals where these searches can result in sites containing viruses, malware and other inappropriate content."

The top 10 superheroes most likely to affect online users this year are:

1. Aquaman -- 20.00%
2. Iron Fist -- 19.69%
3. Wolverine -- 19.58.%
4. Wonder Woman -- 19.38%
5. Doctor Strange -- 19.17%
6. Daredevil -- 18.96%
7. Tie: The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man -- 18.85%
8. Catwoman -- 18.65%
9. Green Lantern -- 18.44%
10. Batman -- 18.33%

This is apparently Aquaman's return to the #1 spot, where he first landed in 2013. He doesn't get the superhero spotlight that often so ... in a way, this is good for his ego. Congrats, man.

FYI, the percentage indicates chance of landing on a website that has tested positive for online threats such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing, viruses or other malware. Be careful out there!

Jennifer Lawrence Reveals 'Anger and Frustration' About Life in the Spotlight

Posted:

Comic-Con International 2015 - Day 1 Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger to the spotlight, but that doesn't mean she loves it all the time.

At this year's Comic-Con to promote "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2," Lawrence chatted with Moviefone Contributing Editor Jessica Wedemeyer about how she's learning to deal with the anxieties that come with being an A-list actress and the kind of impact it's having on her life.

"One day, when I've made peace with the paparazzi, I'll regret all of the anger and frustration because it just takes up a lot of time, and it's not nice," Lawrence said. "It's not lovely to feel angry and anxious every day. So I think one day, when I don't have those feelings anymore, I'll regret all of the time that was spent feeling anxious over something I couldn't control."

That said, Lawrence isn't about to waste her time on regret. Almost mid-sentence, the Oscar-winner turned the negative into a positive -- realizing that there just isn't any room for regret when it comes to doing what she loves. "I don't have any regrets, because there really is only one thing I can do on this world to make money," she explained. "I have one skill, and I love it so much. So anything that has to come with that, I'm willing to accept."

That's our girl. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" hits theaters November 20th.

'Doctor Who' Trailer Teases Maisie Williams's 'Surprising' Season 9 Role

Posted:

It looks like "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams's new "Doctor Who" character is just as much of a sassy smartass as Arya Stark. But who is she playing in "Doctor Who" Season 9? The new trailer was just released at Comic-Con, with Maisie featured briefly in the end in a mysterious scene with Peter Capaldi.

The Doctor: "You?"

Maisie's Character: "What took you so long, old man?"
Now fans are speculating on who this character might be. A younger version of Clara, Susan, River Song, or ... Other? Executive producer Steven Moffat didn't reveal much of anything at Comic-Con, just saying, "It's going to be surprising what she gets up to." Back in March, when Maisie's casting was announced, Steven said, "She is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell."

Here's the trailer:

"Doctor Who" Season 9 premieres September 19 on BBC America. Do you have a theory on Maisie's character?

Parents Say Minions Happy Meal Toys Curse, McDonald's Responds

Posted:

Well, sh-t, kids, sorry 'bout those f-bombs! Parents who bought their kids some McDonald's Happy Meal toys with "Minions" characters got some despicable feedback when a few of the talking toys sounded like they were talking dirty, saying things like "What the f--k."

"I heard what it said and I'm like, 'Whoa, hang on here,'" Taylor King, who bought a Happy Meal for his 3-year-old son, told Fox28 in Columbus, Ohio. Alexis Hernandez told FOX 13 her 5-year-old daughter Julissa opened up the toy while she was in the backseat of the car. Alexis said she heard "What the f--k" followed by "I'll be damned." The child's grandmother thought Julissa said it, but the kid said it was the toy.

The New York Daily News reached out to McDonald's, and spokeswoman Lisa McComb said, "The Minion Caveman Happy Meal toy includes 3 sounds: 'para la bukay,' 'hahaha,' and 'eh eh,'" adding that cursing reports have been "exaggerated." The toys are meant to speak "Minionese," a random assortment of sounds, so maybe adults are just too used to swear words and heard the wrong things? This could be purely parental error, and that seems to be McD's stance. As McComb stated:

We're aware of a very small number of customers who have been in touch regarding this toy, and we regret any confusion or offense to those who may have misinterpreted its sounds. The allegation that this toy is saying anything offensive or profane is not true."

Here's a news video detailing the "two days of investigating" (seriously?!) that went into figuring this out:

A potty mouth Minions scandal. You can't make this stuff up ... unless they DID make it up to target the adult fans out there who might be curious enough to buy their own Minions to see if they got one of the R-rated ones. Stranger things have happened! #conspiracy

Can 'South Park' Make Hulu a Player?

Posted:

south parkLooks like Eric Cartman will be an incorrigible prepubescent child for at least four more years.

And if you want to watch his juvenile antics on "South Park," either on TV or online, you'll have to put up with commercials.

The extension of "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone's contract with Comedy Central through 2019 is good news for "South Park" fans, as it adds three more seasons to the 20 that both the show's creators and the network already agreed to. (Season 19 begins on September 16.) At the same time, Parker and Stone have extended their deal with Hulu, so that the streaming site will continue to be the exclusive online home of both new episodes and the full "South Park" library.

Cost to Hulu of this contract extension: a cool $192 million.

Mind you, this is on top of the $160 to $180 million the website spent two months ago to acquire the entire "Seinfeld" catalogue. At the time, Hulu let it be known that the company had a $750 million war chest to spend on the kind of premium content that would at last make them competitive with the much more popular Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Which means they've now spent half their money on just two shows. One of them consists of 20-year-old reruns that you can watch any night of the week on cable. The other is a show that's also in frequent reruns on cable, a show that is still a creative force but, arguably, is past its peak. Oh, and Hulu also bought all 300 episodes of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" from CBS for an undisclosed sum. Way to grab those young viewers, Hulu.

As this column has noted, Hulu does have other shows in the works, original and exclusive shows like the ones on Netflix and Amazon Prime, series that have proven TV talents behind them. Later this year, programs like "11/22/63" (the time-travel drama developed by J.J. Abrams from a Stephen King novel and starring James Franco) and Amy Poehler's "Difficult People" (starring rising comics Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner) will try to become Hulu's versions of "House of Cards" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." Plus, Hulu will be the only place to see the new season of "The Mindy Project," having scooped up the Mindy Kaling sitcom after Fox canceled it.

Also in the mix: streaming rights to the recent Fox hit drama "Empire" and the likely soon-to-be-a-hit "Walking Dead" spinoff, AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead."

But Hulu still faces two major hurdles. One is its subscriber base, currently around 9 million people. That's 50 percent more than it had a year ago, but still only about a fourth of the number of viewers Netflix or Amazon Prime have in the United States. Hulu has said it will promote its new shows by raising its marketing budget by 70 percent, but it still has to reach potential viewers beyond its base, and it has to convince them to make that psychological leap toward paying another $8 per month to see a selection of familiar shows and a handful of series no one has seen yet.

And that's where the other hurdle lies, since subscribing to Hulu means being willing to endure commercial interruptions during your streams. Ads that break up your viewing experience make Hulu different from Amazon Prime and Netflix and more like... well, the standard network and basic cable TV viewing experience that the streaming medium is trying to distance itself from. At least if you have a DVR, you can zip past the ads on TV, but of course, you can't do that on Hulu.

From a business standpoint, the ads make sense. With a smaller subscriber base, someone has to pay the bills. And if, as anticipated, the dollars spent on digital advertising surpass those spent on TV commercials sometime in the next two years, Hulu will be in a better position than Netflix or Amazon to take advantage of that revenue stream.

But viewers don't like having to watch ads that they can't skip. Besides, sponsors tend to influence content. Most don't like fare that's too edgy or controversial; it doesn't create a congenial environment in which to sell cars or cat food. They'll make an exception, however, if the daring fare draws affluent viewers who buy big-ticket items.

And that seems to be Hulu's gamble: that their small subscriber base will either grow or be affluent enough to attract lucrative sponsors who'll overlook risky content in order to reach the right eyeballs. And the company is also gambling that those eyeballs won't blink -- or click away -- if they're forced to watch ads.

At least Matt Stone is happy. The "South Park" co-creator, who has a long history of fighting to get online outlets to pay him and Trey Parker what their show is worth, told the Hollywood Reporter he felt vindicated by the deal. "There's finally an understanding that the business is going to have to rely on the talent community and the franchises that it has built and not on algorithms," Stone said. "I don't like our stuff being talked about as content," he added. "We don't make content. We make television. And that's now what digital understands it has to pay for."

Well, somebody has to pay for it, either the viewers or the sponsors. Hulu's bet is that it can get both to cough up.

'Doctor Zhivago' and 'Lawrence of Arabia' Star Omar Sharif Dead at 83

Mideast Egypt Omar Sharif ObitOmar Sharif, who made audiences swoon in "Dr. Zhivago" and "Lawrence of Arabia," died Friday at the age of 83. According to his agent, Sharif passed away after suffering a heart attack in Cairo. He had also been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

With his dark good looks and debonair flair, Sharif became an international heartthrob. He was also a fine actor who earned an Oscar nomination for "Lawrence of Arabia" and won Golden Globes for that movie as well as "Doctor Zhivago."
Doctor Zhivago
Born in 1932 in Egypt, Sharif developed an interest in acting as a teenager. He studied mathematics and physics at the University of Cairo, then headed to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. In the 1950s, he became a well-known star in the Egyptian film industry.

In 1962, he appeared in his first English-language film, David Lean's "Lawrence of Arabia," and the accolades he received threw the door open to Hollywood. He reunited with Lean to star in "Doctor Zhivago" in 1965.

But Sharif began to lose interest in acting in the '70s, and turned his attention to the card game bridge, of which he became a world-class player.

Sharif leaves behind a son, Tarek El-Sharif, whom he had with ex-wife, the Egyptian actress Faten Hamama, as well as two grandsons.

SDCC: Sherlock and Watson Come Home in First 'Sherlock' Christmas Special Clip

Posted:

Sherlock and Watson will be home for Christmas! And Mrs. Hudson will be there to welcome them back.

Yesterday, we saw the first official image from the upcoming "Sherlock" Christmas special, which featured stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in Victorian garb. Now, "Sherlock" fans get an even bigger treat in the form of a clip from the special, which played at the show's Comic-Con panel.
In the clip, the dynamic duo returns home after solving a case, to the great surprise of Mrs. Hudson, who wasn't expecting them. "That's the trouble with dismembered country squires; they're notoriously difficult to schedule," Sherlock observes wryly. As they settle in at home, Mrs. Hudson confesses she's not a big fan of Watson's writing, and Watson reveals just why he grew that substantial mustache.

In the panel, co-creator Steven Moffat called the Victorian-era special "one of the best" they've made, and announced that it would play in select movie theaters. "Sherlock" on the big screen ... YASSS!

SDCC: Ben Affleck in Talks to Direct, Star and Co-Write Solo 'Batman' Movie

Posted:

Just as Comic-Con begins, so does a new era for The Dark Knight.

"Batman v Superman" star Ben Affleck is reportedly in talks to cowrite a "Batman" standalone film with DC Comics' chief creative officer Geoff Johns, according to Deadline.

Affleck will also star as Batman and possibly direct, with the latter rumored to be a condition of his deal to don the cowl in "BvS" when he first signed on to that film in 2013.

Deadline also reports that Affleck and Johns, a popular DC Comics scribe, are already at work on a script that the team may finish by end of summer -- before Affleck goes off in November to direct the 2016 crime thriller "Live By Night," based on the novel by Dennis Lehane.

Affleck's second appearance as the Caped Crusader won't start shooting until after "Night" is finished, which means we won't see a solo Batman film until at least 2018 or 2019. Deadline broke the story two days before Affleck and his "BvS" costars arrive for Warner Bros.' epic Hall H presentation at Comic-Con Saturday.

Before becoming DC's CCO, Johns was responsible for writing such popular and successful comics runs as "Green Lantern" and "Justice League." This will mark Johns' first feature writing credit.

"Batman v Superman" hits theaters March 25, 2016.
