Today in Movie Culture: The R-Rated Wes Anderson, 'Star Wars' Spinoff Ideas and More Posted: 13 Jul 2015 11:00 PM PDT Here are a bunch of little bites to satisfy your hunger for movie culture: Fan Build of the Day: It's not enough to just build a soapbox race car in the form of a Batmobile. One team went extra creative by doing a Lego Batmobile (via Fashionably Geek): Supercut of the Day: Do too many movie characters utter the words "now that's what I'm talking about"? Here's supercut evidence indicating yes: Filmmaker in Focus: The latest supercut of Wes Anderson movies highlights just the swears: Vintage Image of the Day: Charlie Chaplin dressed as a woman in A Woman (but not playing a woman, as he did in 1914's A Busy Day). You can also see the whole film, which was released 100 years ago this week, on... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 13 Jul 2015 09:30 PM PDT Here are a bunch of sequel bites for those of you who are always wanting more... Wreck-It Ralph 2 During an interview with an Irish radio station over the weekend, John C. Reilly revealed that he's signed on for a sequel to Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. It's possible that he's been on board for a while and that this isn't actually a new development, but we can hope. Reilly voiced the title character in the 2012 original, which follows video game characters residing in a shared universe after the arcade shuts down for the night. (Coming Soon) Kill Bill Vol. 3 With Quentin Tarantino at Comic-Con promoting his upcoming film, The Hateful Eight, he was once again asked about the possibility and status of another Kill Bill installment... 'Ex Machina' Director Says His Next Movie Is Even Crazier Than 'Dredd' and '28 Days Later' Posted: 13 Jul 2015 08:15 PM PDT Alex Garland is a beast when it comes to modern science fiction, and the great thing about his filmography is that no two of his movies are quite the same. The restart-the-sun spaceship thriller Sunshine is a much grander scale than the meditative clone drama Never Let Me Go, which is wildly different from the angry rage virus that is 28 Days Later, which is far more action-packed than his most recent sci-fi outing, the terrific Ex Machina, but also isn't anywhere near as weird and violent as Dredd. If you were afraid Garland's next movie would see him leaving the sci-fi genre, we're happy to report there is nothing to fear. He's sticking around science fiction for the foreseeable future. His next project is an adaptation of a recently published book called... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch: The First 'Suicide Squad' Trailer, Featuring Joker, Harley Quinn and More Posted: 13 Jul 2015 07:09 PM PDT One of the big Comic-Con standouts was the upcoming DC film Suicide Squad, which takes the unique approach of being a film all about the villains. The movie is a little over a year away from hitting theaters and it's still in production, but director David Ayer wanted to spread the noise a bit farther than San Diego and so he released the Comic-Con footage online. Check it out below. Suicide Squad features a top secret group of supervillains recruited to run suicide missions for the government to try to gain their freedom. The key to their dark appeal, however, is that they are not all evil; rather, they are the modern-day equivalent of The Dirty Dozen, the 1967 action movie about soldiers convicted of murder. Director Ayer's penchant for military movies, as in last... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch: Tom Cruise Performed the 'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation' Airplane Stunt Eight Times Posted: 13 Jul 2015 06:33 PM PDT Apparently Tom Cruise isn’t happy with just being a huge movie star. Nope, clearly the 52-year-old actor also wants to be known as one of Hollywood’s greatest stuntmen too. We’ve seen Cruise perform all kinds of crazy stunts over the past few years -- the sort of things that would make even grizzled stuntmen a little nervous. However, nothing is likely to top this new imagery of the actor hanging on to the side of an airplane as it cruises at 5,000 feet above the English countryside. That’s just flat-out nuts. This new video takes you through the stunt, revealing Cruise did eight separate takes of the scene. Oh, and he was scared... but you wouldn't know it by watching the below featurette. The stunt can be seen in the upcoming... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Watch: Here's Why Batman Needs To Destroy Superman Posted: 13 Jul 2015 01:43 PM PDT If you know someone who thinks it's a little weird that Batman would even want to fight Superman, all you need to do is show them the above image that matches together the finale of Man of Steel with one of the opening scenes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Looking at the same moment from two perspectives and it all instantly clicks into place. Here we have Bruce Wayne on the streets of Metropolis, staring on in disbelief and anger as the world he knew is cut apart by aliens. In just four seconds, one of these men from Krypton carves through two buildings with freakin' lasers that blast out of his eyes. Even in his darkest days and with all his tools, Batman couldn't do that kind of damage if he wanted to. Superman may not be outwardly malicious to mankind... First published in 2013, the Australian author's novel follows a genetics professor with Asperger's syndrome who seeks a marriage mate. Lawrence will play Rosie, a woman who doesn't meet any of the professor's "qualifications" yet attracts him anyway. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who wrote (500) Days of Summer, have written a screenplay. [The Hollywood Reporter] Christopher Nolan: Rumor has it that filmmaker Christopher Nolan has completed a "comprehensive draft" of a screenplay that would serve as a follow-up to 2014's Interstellar.
