The 25 Best 'SNL' Impressions Ever Posted: Celebrity impersonations are undeniably one of the staples of "Saturday Night Live." Week after week for 40 seasons, hosts and cast members alike have been portraying either the buzziest stars of the moment or some random famous person they happen to have a knack for copying. There have been hits and misses, but when the parodies are good, they become some of the most memorable sketches in history. We salute "SNL" for giving us master mimics like Dana Carvey, Jimmy Fallon, and Maya Rudolph and more throughout the years. Here's a look at 25 cast members and their best impressions ever. Top 10 Worst Casting Choices Ever Posted: Casting a movie isn't always the easiest job, so it's no surprise that sometimes actors end up in roles that just weren't meant for them. These are 10 of the worst casting choices ever. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The 18 Most Insane Stunts in Movie History, Ranked Posted: As an actor who likes to perform his own stunts, Tom Cruise tends to set the bar high. Literally. Having scaled the world's tallest building in "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" four years ago, the 53-year-old figured the only way to top that was to hang from the side of a flying plane in the new "Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation," opening July 31. Certainly, there's something thrilling -- and probably a little sick -- about watching a person risk his or her life just to entertain us. Cruise has clearly gone above and beyond the call of duty for moviegoers many times, but he's also part of a movie tradition going back a century, of film professionals doing absolutely insane stunts just to wow us for a few moments. In honor of "Rogue Nation," here are 18 of the most astonishing stunts ever filmed. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Richard Linklater May Join Jennifer Lawrence for 'The Rosie Project' Posted: One of Jennifer Lawrence's next films may have set its sights on an Oscar-nominated director. According to Deadline, "Boyhood"'s Richard Linklater is the top choice to helm "The Rosie Project," in which Lawrence plays the titular object of the protagonist's affections. Linklater would replace previous "Rosie" helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who left the flick after striking a deal to make the recently-announced Han Solo-centric "Star Wars" prequel. "Rosie," based on the novel by Graeme Simsion, focuses on an eccentric genetics professor who creates a scientific survey to make up for his lack of social skills and find the perfect love match. He then meets Rosie (Lawrence), who doesn't meet any of his qualifications, but bewitches him nonetheless. Fresh off the success of "Boyhood," Linklater has been busy lately, working on a comedy about baseball players that's been described as a spiritual successor to his early classic, "Dazed and Confused." That flick -- currently untitled, but previously called "That's What I'm Talking About" and "Everybody Wants Some" -- is due out on April 15, 2016. Deadline's report cautions that there's no deal in place yet for Linklater and "Rosie," and discussions are in "early days." Stay tuned. Josh Duhamel Books Role on Hulu's '11/22/63' Posted: The upcoming Hulu miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's "11/22/63" has added yet another big name to its already-sprawling cast, with actor Josh Duhamel joining the ensemble. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Duhamel will have a regular role on the series, which stars James Franco as English teacher Jake Epping, who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on the titular date. According to THR, Duhamel's character is an antagonist for Epping:
The rest of the impressive cast includes Daniel Webber (who's playing assassin Lee Harvey Oswald), Chris Cooper, Cherry Jones, George MacKay, Lucy Fry, and T.R. Knight. King is producing the miniseries alongside J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company. "11/22/63" is set to run as a nine-hour miniseries on Hulu. No official premiere date has been announced yet. [via: The Hollywood Reporter] Photo credit: Getty Images This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Ed Sheeran Joins 'The Bastard Executioner' in Recurring Role Posted: Singer Ed Sheeran is set to give acting a try in a recurring role on upcoming FX series "The Bastard Executioner." The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, writing that Sheeran will play Sir Cormac, described by the trade as "an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder." As THR notes, this will be the second collaboration between Sheeran and "Executioner" creator Kurt Sutter; Sheeran previously contributed a bluesy cover of the Foy Vance song "Make It Rain" to "Sons of Anarchy"'s final season, after the British songwriter revealed that he was a big fan of Sutter's biker drama. "Bastard Executioner" will keep up Sutter's penchant for high-stakes drama, only this time, the action is set in the 1300s. The show is described by THR as "a blood-soaked medieval epic that tells the story of a 14th century warrior whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner." The series is currently shooting in the U.K., and also stars Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, Lee Jones, and Flora Spencer-Longhurst. There's no set premiere date yet, though it's expected to debut sometime this fall. Sheeran will next appear on television screens in his special, "Ed Sheeran: Live at Wembley Stadium," which will premiere on NBC on August 16. Ricky Gervais Now Casting 'Office' Spinoff Movie: David Brent Is Back Posted: Have you ever wondered what happened to "The Office" manager? Not the U.S. one, the original U.K. "Office," starring Ricky Gervais as the Swindon lot's cringe-worthy boss, David Brent. After the U.K. series aired two seasons and finished up with a 2003 Christmas special, the U.S. version took over and Ricky Gervais' career took a different direction. Now he's back as Brent, directing, writing, and starring in a new movie called "Life On The Road," following the character 15 years later. In "Life On The Road," David Brent is now a traveling salesman chasing a dream of rock stardom with his band, Foregone Conclusion. A documentary crew will, of course, be following his every move. As Ricky put it: "He thinks it'll be like Scorsese doing the Rolling Stones, but we'll show the full horror. He's had to take two weeks off work and cash in his pension, because the session musicians in the band are costing him more than he's getting in ticket sales." Ricky is documenting the making of the movie on his website, and he updated in mid-July that "I also started casting 'Life On The Road' this week and the response from actors wanting to audition has been overwhelming. Started planning the towns Foregone Conclusion might visit on their tragic tour too. Surely they have to pass through Swindon." He's currently editing the star-studded movie "Special Correspondents" and noted that, toward the end of post-production on that movie, he'll start pre-production on "Life On The Road." He added, "The script is in good shape with wall-to-wall funny scenes, but you still have to make sure it's justified as a movie and not just a feature-length episode of a TV show. You also need to keep the low fi charm of the quaint docu-soap. It's a tricky one but it's invigorating putting the whole thing together." Back in May, Ricky told Variety, "I'm so excited that the world will see what David Brent is up to now and where his future lies. This film delves much more into his private life than 'The Office' ever did and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man." Are you excited to facepalm over anything and everything David Brent does next? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Marvel's Stan Lee Defends Both Black Johnny Storm and Fan Criticism Posted: Stan Lee helped create "The Fantastic Four" for Marvel, and Lee just weighed in on the casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in the new movie coming out August 7. The character was originally written as blond-haired and blue-eyed, and some fans objected to casting a black actor. In May, Jordan wrote an essay on the subject for Entertainment Weekly, addressing his critics and saying Lee had given his OK. Lee updated in a new chat with EW to say he was "more than OK" with the plan: "I thought it was a great idea!" However, the Marvel legend can see both sides of this, and doesn't view the criticism as a race issue as much as a knee-jerk reaction from fans who want to see a faithful adaptation of the characters they've embraced. As he told Entertainment Weekly: It's true, fans get upset at the slightest physical or personality change when characters are adapted from the page -- and it's not like they don't have a right to be upset. It's not a bad thing to want faithful adaptations that stick to canon. But it's also not a bad thing to have some imagination, an open mind, and faith in the people adapting the story. It's not like they're erasing the comics from existence, it's just a new take on the same idea. Lee has faith. He told EW fans are going to love Jordan's Human Torch, so he's not worried about the initial backlash. The "Fantastic Four" reboot opens next week. Will you be watching to see Johnny and all the other characters in action? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Here's a portion of that story: TV Worth Watching "The Bachelorette" (Monday on ABC at 8 p.m.) Kaitlyn's "dramatic" finale airs tonight (July 27), revealing whether she picked Shawn, Nick, or (best option) just herself. "Key & Peele" (Wednesday on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.) Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele continue their strong fifth (and, sadly, final) season with Episode 4, "Severed Head Showcase." Don't let him get away with it! "Humans" (Sunday on AMC at 9 p.m.) It's not too late to catch up on AMC's new sci-fi series set in a parallel present London where synths -- eerily humanlike androids -- are the latest trend in household help. Episode 6 of 8 airs on August 2, and you can expect more family drama, more secrets to be revealed, and maybe even a few answers on Mia. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Tom Cruise Has a Very Specific 'Top Gun 2' Demand Posted: "Top Gun 2," a sequel to Tom Cruise's 1986 hit, is now being written with what's been called "an amazing role" for Cruise as Maverick. Tommy boy is now 53, but he's still known for performing his own (extreme) stunts -- as in his new movie "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation." While in London for the premiere of "Rogue Nation," Cruise addressed the "Top Gun 2" talk with Reuters: However, he does have a specific demand: There's the Maverick we know and love! Last month, Skydance CEO David Ellison talked to Collider about "Top Gun 2," and it sounds like he and Cruise may have already had that no-CGI conversation: OK, but safety first. Don't kill the guy just 'cause he has a need for "practical" speed. In terms of the plot, Ellison had teased, "It is very much a world we live in today, where it's drone technology and fifth generation fighters are really what the United States Navy is calling the last man-made fighter that we're actually going to produce. So it's really exploring the end of an era of dogfighting and fighter pilots and what that culture is today. [Those] are all fun things that we're gonna get to dive into in this movie." It does sound like it might be fun to both make and watch. We'll have the easy part on the sidelines, whenever this thing finally arrives in theaters. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. First 'Fuller House' Episode 'In the Can': See Cast Photos on Live Show Night Posted: Congrats to the cast of "Fuller House" -- they just survived their first live show over the weekend! The "Full House" spinoff premieres 13 episodes in 2016, starring a big chunk of the original cast. Several stars shared photos on social media, leading up to the first episode. John Stamos, who had entered rehab following a DUI arrest, first tweeted on June 24, "I'm back! Took a month to take care of things. Healthy. Feeling grateful for the love & support of family & friends." He then shared an image to Snapchat of his Uncle Jesse outside the door of the Tanner family home. (See pic below.) Stars Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, Dave Coulier also shared pics, before and after the "Fuller House" show, so check 'em out: Congrats on Episode 1, and good luck with the rest! Listen to Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender in 'The Big Lebowski' Live Read Posted: So you've probably heard that "X-Men: Apocalypse" stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Olivia Munn and friends did a Live Read of "The Big Lebowski" on Friday night during the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. But have you actually heard any of it? The photos online are great, but the audio really ties the room together. Thankfully, someone posted a portion of the event online -- you can't see a blessed thing, but you can hear the portion of the reading right after Olivia Munn, who was meant to voice Tara Reid's Bunny, steps on Jennifer Lawrence's lines. Apparently Olivia's script was highlighted with the Maude lines, even though that's the part Jennifer was meant to read on stage. (It was Julianne Moore's role in the movie.) In this 6-minute video, you can hear Jennifer mock-complain, "I've been waiting for three hours to get to my part, and now it's happening, and it's all falling to sh-t!" Jen's voice comes through loud and clear; if only everyone were that clear. You can hear Patton Oswalt, who played Walter, joke about Michael Fassbender going "a little too Method" to play The Dude. MTV chronicled some of that Method smoking in their report from the show: Here are two photos from the show, just to give you a feel: Unlike Donny, they were in their element. They should take this show on the road! Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch 'Harry Potter' Deaths Set to 'See You Again' and Just Try Not to Cry Posted: Sniff. Curse you, Internet! This magic is too strong to fight. A YouTube user named theredsoxfan18 made a video combining "Harry Potter" character deaths with the "Furious 7" song "See You Again" -- the tribute to the late Paul Walker -- and it has fans moaning loader than Myrtle. The 2 minute mashup was posted back in May, but in true World Wide Web style, it took a while for it to go viral, and many of us are only just discovering it now. The video starts with Dumbledore's voice telling Harry Potter, "Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living - and above all, those who live without love." Your emotions may start getting the best of you right there, and things won't get easier after seeing Dobby, James and Lily Potter, Sirius Black, Snape, Lupin, Fred, and our trio of heroes along their journey. Here's the video, see how far you make it without chills and/or tears: So, how did you do? Need a hug? Dobby's death -- with Harry begging "help me" -- is the one that gets us most... Stars Mourn Bobbi Kristina Brown: 'May U Rest in Peace With Your Mommy' Posted: Bobbi Kristina Brown -- daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown and star of the Lifetime reality show "The Houstons: On Our Own" -- died July 26 in Georgia. She was only 22. Her death happened nearly six months after she was found face down in a bathtub at her home, and three years after her famous mother drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills. "Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away Sunday, July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family," the family said in a statement. "She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months." The official Facebook page for Whitney Houston posted a statement Sunday night:
"She was a sweetheart," Houston's cousin, Dionne Warwick, said Sunday night on "Watch What Happens Live." "She will be missed, that's for sure. She was a good girl. She was a good little girl, that's for sure." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
