'Victor Frankenstein' First Photo Shows James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe in Peril Posted: A monstrous bromance for the ages is aliiiiive in the upcoming movie "Victor Frankenstein." James McAvoy plays the (good?) doctor with Daniel Radcliffe as his assistant Igor. The new take on the iconic characters, directed by Paul McGuigan, comes out November 25. Entertainment Weekly shared a new photo, hinting to trouble ahead: Apparently poor Igor's abuse will be a focus of the movie. As Daniel Radcliffe told EW: James McAvoy added: #SaveIgor. As devoted fans of "Harry Potter" star Radcliffe and "X-Men" hero McAvoy, we wouldn't miss this one for the world. But play nice, Victor! Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Conan O'Brien Crashed a 'Magic Mike XXL' Girls Night - and It Was Glorious Posted: The petition for "Magic Conan" starts now! If you think about it, a midnight showing of "Magic Mike XXL" might be a good place for a guy to find a date. Not that Conan O'Brien was going that route -- even though the married man did take off his shirt and gyrate repeatedly for his assistant and her friends. He said the "Conan" staff were freaking out over the release of the "Magic Mike" sequel, so he decided to investigate by crashing a "girls night" midnight showing. You have to watch it all play out in his 9 minute video, below. All the ladies met at his assistant's apartment so, in the dead of night, Conan led cameras to her door. "It's like an episode of 'COPS,'" he said, "only instead of arresting murderers I'm just hanging out with some women and seeing a movie." He proceeded to make fun of their celeb crushes (Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello), while pointing out that has has met those celebs. The conversation -- consider it foreplay before the film -- also included this question from Conan: "Raise your hand if you'd like if it you saw a penis. Be honest." The whole size discussion was hilarious. Then Conan, clearly feeling the need to showcase his own masculinity, did some shirtless "Magic Mike" moves. Strangely, no one made the "woo!" noise for that, they just laughed and hid their faces. At the theater, all the women in line chanted "Magic Mike!" so Conan did a little dance for them. Just watch and enjoy. Whatever you do, don't miss the very end for a special cameo: Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Bachelor in Paradise 2' Spoilers: Kaitlyn's Ex Just Got Engaged to Chris's Ex Posted: Don't worry: After we're done being shocked and awed by Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of "The Bachelorette," we have Season 2 of "Bachelor in Paradise" to look forward to never understanding for the life of us. Reality Steve just updated with episode-by-episode SPOILERS for ABC's summer spinoff, and the end game shows that three "Bachelor"/"Bachelorette" couples left the show still together, with one of those couples getting engaged. Since last season ended with one pair getting engaged -- Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd -- and their wedding will be shown at the start of BiP2, it does seem possible that this new union could also go the distance. Who are the newly engaged lovebirds? Jade Roper & Tanner Tolbert Who the heck are they? Jade, like Kaitlyn, made it to the final four of Chris Soules's most recent "The Bachelor" Season 19. Jade was the one who posed for Playboy, and was then sent packing. Tanner, recently dumped by Kaitlyn, was the guy with the encyclopedic knowledge of "The Bachelor" franchise, so he probably knew everyone on BiP going in. Reality Steve said, on the final day, there were four couples and this is the breakdown: o. Justin Reich (Kaitlyn's season) and Cassandra Ferguson (Juan Pablo's season) stayed together. o. Nick Peterson (Ashley's season, Bachelor Pad 3 winner) and Samantha Steffen (Chris' season) stayed together. o. Joshua Albers (Kaitlyn's season) and Tenley Molzahn (Jake's season, Bachelor Pad 1) broke up. o. Tanner got engaged to Jade. Read the rest of the spoilers breakdown over here. It's ridiculous, but it's also summer, so ... why not just let your brain melt a little. "Bachelor in Paradise 2" premieres in a two-night event, Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3 at 8 p.m. on ABC. Will you be watching? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Sadly, a Cool 'Game of Thrones' Rumor Was Just Shot Down Posted: "Game of Thrones" is always killing our dreams. Then again, death isn't always The End in George R.R. Martin's world, and in this case, it's just a delay. No, we're not talking more about Jon Snow (he's totally coming back), this time we mean the long-awaited sixth book in GRRM's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. There are seven books coming in total and it has been four years since book five, "A Dance With Dragons," was published. Fans are hoping "The Winds of Winter" will be published before "Game of Thrones" Season 6 arrives in 2016. That may still be the case -- and excerpts have been shared online -- but a rumor was spreading that there was already a manuscript out, read by the Season 6 directors as they prepared the new season. It all started from a misunderstanding, then led to a game of telephone, based on director Jack Bender's Reddit AMA. He's one of the directors helming episodes for Season 6, and as WinterIsComing relayed, he had this exchange during his AMA: Yes! It sounded promising, but apparently it was too good to be true. That convo started to spread as a hint to "Winds of Winter" being done and making its rounds to The Powers That Be for use in the HBO show's Season 6 and -- fans hoped -- published soon for the rest of us. However, cold water was splashed on the idea by Elio García and Linda Antonsson, who co-wrote "The World of Ice and Fire" along with GRRM. Here are their tweets, referencing GoT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss as "D&D": Sad trombone. Meanwhile, the highest authority is GRRM himself, and his latest tweet does not address the speculation, it's just a look at his own fine self: So cute! Love it. Now get back to work.Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'X-Men': Bryan Singer Shares First Look at 'Rogue Cut' Posted: Director Bryan Singer is busy making "X-Men: Apocalypse," but he's also promoting the debut of the "Rogue Cut" of the previous movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," with more focus on Anna Paquin's Rogue and a ton of other special features. As Singer put it, "This is not just an extended edition of 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past,' but alternate version of the film." Check out his tweet with the video link: Want more details on the "Rogue Cut"? Empire saw it and reported: There you go. It gets very blue. "X-Men: Days Of Future Past - The Rogue Cut" will have its premiere at Comic-Con next week, timed with the July 14 Blu-ray/DVD release. Do you plan to check it out or will you skip it? 'Inside Out' Just Beat Up 'Terminator' and 'Magic Mike' at the Box Office Posted: Hasta la vista, tough guys! As we approach the July 4th holiday weekend, Hollywood is keeping a close watch on the five-day domestic box office. "Magic Mike XXL" and "Terminator Genisys" just opened, but they were both beat on Thursday by Disney/Pixar's "Inside Out" and also the dino-mite power of "Jurassic World." According to Variety, "Inside Out" earned $7.7 million on July 2, making its North American total, to date, $216.1 million. "Jurassic World" was not too far behind with $6.9 million, adding to its whopping $527.2 million domestic total. "Terminator Genisys" was right on the dinosaur's tail, earning $6.5 million to give it a $15.4 million domestic total so far. The "Magic Mike" sequel only had $5.7 million, giving it just over $15 million so far, but since that one only cost about $14.8 million to make, it's not that big a deal if it doesn't have a huge opening weekend. "Terminator," though. That one cost around $155 million and Variety said it's on pace to fall $10 million short of the $55 million goal the studio had for the five-day opening weekend (Wednesday-Sunday). However, the "Terminator" reboot should get a boost overseas, and it's about to open in 60 percent of international markets over the weekend, so don't cry too hard for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yet. Are you surprised that "Inside Out" and "Jurassic World" still seem to be more popular than "Terminator" and "Magic Mike" or does that just make sense, since family friendly films reach a wider audience? 'Lip Sync Battle' Is Back With Epic Lineup: Alison Brie, Justin Bieber, 'Empire' Cast Posted: Three mouthed-but-not-vocalized cheers for the return of "Lip Sync Battle"! Spike TV's epic celebrity showdown, hosted by LL Cool J, was an instant hit when it debuted with Dwayne Johnson vs. Jimmy Fallon back in April. It really picked up steam with the Anne Hathaway vs. Emily Blunt match, traumatized us -- in a good way -- with Stephen Merchant and later Julianne Hough, then dipped a bit before going on break. Season 1 is not over, but it's been off the air since May 28. But now it's back with a vengeance, starting next Thursday, July 9. Here's the upcoming lineup: o. Alison Brie vs. Will Arnett -- July 9 o. Justin Bieber vs. Deion Sanders -- July 16 o. Andy Cohen vs. Willie Geist -- July 23 o. Victoria Justice vs. Gregg Sulkin -- July 30 o. Abbi Jacobson vs. Ilana Glazer -- August 6 o. Iggy Azalea vs. Nick Young -- August 13 o. Terrence Howard vs. Taraji P. Henson -- August 20 The shows were all pre-taped, so check out Spike's preview, showing Will Arnett's "Lego" routine; badass Alison Brie shooting down a photo of her opponent, Arnett (she's totally winning her battle, you can tell just from the promo); Justin Bieber going full Ozzy, then reviving Deion Sanders; Terrence Howard playing dress up and the "Empire" stars getting back-up from Mary J. Blige herself: Bring it on! This is serious must-see TV, so you'd better be there. Shows air at 10 p.m. Thursdays on Spike TV, then the best clips are usually posted to the show's YouTube page. 'Once Upon a Time': New Dark Swan Photos, Season 5 Spoilers on Lily, Zelena Posted: Why are the villains always the sexiest? "Once Upon a Time" Season 5 starts Sunday, September 27 and The Powers That Be just shared new details on Emma Swan's (Jennifer Morrison) transformation into "Dark Swan," plus other magical spoilers. DARK SWAN First, Entertainment Weekly posted two first look photos of Dark Swan. Part of one is teased above, but see the photos in these tweets for full looks at Emma's awesomeness: Showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz talked to Entertainment Weekly about Emma's journey, and how her status as the new Dark One will differ from Rumple's. "How a Dark One manifests is specific to each person who takes on the mantle," Horowitz said. "Emma will have her own unique spin on what it means to be a Dark One." Kitsis added, "We are going to be exploring love and what happens when you use it as a weapon and what are the things that it makes you do. In the past, we've said love is the most powerful magic of all. It makes you do many things you normally wouldn't think you would." That's interesting. He also said, "The quest for Merlin is the quest to free Emma," but that will require a new savior to step forward.A new savior ... Henry? Regina? Hook? The showrunners previously summed up Season 5 in one word -- "Swan" -- which could refer to more than Emma. Maybe another character has an Ugly Duckling-to-Swan story? MAL & LILY In non-Swan news, here's new EW scoop on the mother/daughter team of Maleficent and Lily: ZELENA'S BABY And here's more baby daddy news, re: Zelena's child with Robin Hood. As EW previously noted: Poor Regina (Lana Parrilla) indeed, but that seems to be her lot in life. No happy ending ... yet. CAMELOT EW also noted that, since the group is hunting for Merlin, that'll take us deep into Camelot. Lancelot (Sinqua Walls) is set to return (not dead, then?) and we'll also meet King Arthur and Guinevere. Liam Garrigan will play King Arthur, who is described as a "good and just ruler" who, beneath the surface, is "a master manipulator who can carry a grudge to the grave." TV Guide said Arthur bears an "eternal burning love" that borders on controlling for Guinevere. #Stage5Clinger As of now, ABC is still apparently working to cast Merlin and Guinevere. Are you excited about the Dark Swan, Camelot, and Zelena news so far? Do you think Regina could be the new savior? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Ben Affleck Admits That 'Daredevil' 'Didn't Work' Posted: "Daredevil" is one of the most derided superhero movies of all time, and apparently, its star agrees with that criticism. Ben Affleck, who's playing a more high-profile hero in next year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," told Entertainment Weekly that director Zack Snyder's dark vision for that flick is much more advanced than the thinking that went into the production of 2003's "Daredevil." "'Daredevil' didn't work, at all. If I wanted to go viral I would be less polite," Affleck told EW. "That was before people realized you could make these movies and make them well. There was a cynical sense of 'Put a red leather outfit on a guy, have him run around, hunt some bad guys, and cash the check.'" Those are some harsh words, but Affleck isn't exactly wrong. As EW points out, there seems to be a line in the sand that was drawn by Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy, proving that a superhero movie could also be just a quality movie, period. And "Daredevil" and "Green Lantern" and all those failed "Hulk" movies certainly seem to fit the bill of cash-grab projects. Affleck's honest admission about "Daredevil" gives us hope that he's right about his high praise for "Batman v Superman" ("They really learned how to make this stuff work," he told EW). We'll find out for ourselves early next year. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is due in theaters on March 25, 2016. Hello Kitty Is Getting Her Own Movie in 2019 Posted: Hello Kitty, that adorable little cat with the jaunty red bow, is coming to the big screen: Deadline reports that the Japanese icon is getting her own movie. According to the trade, Sanrio, the company that owns the rights to the character, is funding and producing the movie itself. And the company is apparently pulling out all the stops for the flick: Its staggering budget is slated fit into a range between $160 and $240 million. That's a lot of dough for a little cat, but then again, the insanely popular brand is a global phenomenon -- the movie should easily make up that money in merchandise sales alone. It's unclear at this point just what medium Sanrio will choose for Hello Kitty's big screen debut, though it's a safe bet that it will be animated (2D or 3D is also unknown for now). A possible plot has yet to be revealed, but we're guessing that the titular feline will say "Hello" quite a bit. Deadline reports that Sanrio is planning similar films for its other properties, including My Melody and Little Twin Stars. No word yet on when those projects are expected in theaters. The Hello Kitty movie is currently scheduled for release sometime in 2019. [via: Deadline] Photo credit: AFP/Getty Images This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth Goof Off on 'Independence Day Resurgence' Set Posted: Fighting aliens is hard work, and sometimes you just need to let off a little steam.
"Independence Day Resurgence" picks up some 20 years after the first flick, and centers around Earth's prep for yet another alien invasion, as the distress call from the last batch of attackers has only just now reached their home planet. Goldblum is suiting up again as scientist-turned-savior David Levinson, while Hemsworth's role is undisclosed for now. (Judging by the above photo, perhaps he plays Goldblum or Bill Pullman's mischievous son?) And traveling to the moon is apparently part of the plan, too. Joining Goldblum and Pullman are fellow returnees Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, and Brent Spiner, among others. On Hemsworth's newbie team are Sela Ward, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Joey King, and Maika Monroe. 'Jenny's Wedding' Trailer: Katherine Heigl & Alexis Bledel Are Getting Married Posted: The Supreme Court just legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, and that's good news for the protagonists of "Jenny's Wedding," in which Katherine Heigl's titular character wants to marry her roommate -- and secret girlfriend -- Kitty (Alexis Bledel). Unfortunately for audiences, though, this is one celebration that doesn't seem worth attending, thanks in large part to Jenny's awful family. They harp on her because she's unmarried (her mother, played by Linda Emond, actually utters the phrase "the clock is ticking" because Jenny doesn't have a family yet), and when she says she's in a relationship, they immediately ask when the wedding is. Um, how about we slow our roll, family? But no, they insist, pressuring Jenny into eventually spilling the beans that Kitty is more than just a roommate, and come to think of it, they do want to get married. Cue horrible homophobia from everyone around Jenny, who suddenly treat her like a leper because she's dared to be a lesbian. Such a response would be somewhat believable if "Jenny's Wedding" was set maybe 15 years ago, but seems more than a little over-the-top in today's rapidly-changing political landscape. Even Jenny's father (Tom Wilkinson) acknowledges such (he reads the papers, after all), before quickly declaring that he just wants to be an "ordinary" family, not a bunch of "rebels." All seems to end well for Jenny and Kitty, but not before a few more heavy-handed scenes are thrown into the mix for good measure. Meltdown in a bridal shop? Check. A tearful conversation on the sidewalk? Check. Mom sparring with Dad? Check. We're RSVP-ing "No" on this one, but check out the trailer and decide for yourself. "Jenny's Wedding" is due in theaters on July 31, and on VOD on August 1. Watch the trailer. Photo credit: YouTube This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
America Ferrera Thanks Donald Trump in Scathing Open Letter Posted: While Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to spout controversial comments about Latino immigrants, one entertainer of Latina descent says she's grateful that Trump has spoken his mind. Actress America Ferrera, star of "Ugly Betty" and the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movies, penned an open letter to Trump in the Huffington Post, and thanked him for his inflammatory remarks. Why? Because those statements have energized millions of Latino voters, Ferrera said -- and they're planning on firing Trump come election day. " ... I heard what you said about the kind of people you think Latino immigrants are -- people with problems, who bring drugs, crime and rape to America," Ferrara wrote. " ... What you just did with your straight talk was send more Latino voters to the polls than several registration rallies combined! Thank you for that. ... Remarks like yours will serve brilliantly to energize Latino voters and increase turnout on election day against you and any other candidate who runs on a platform of hateful rhetoric." Ferrera went on to say that Latinos are the fastest-growing constituency in the country, with their numbers swelling by over 49 percent from 2002-2012. That's a huge group of potential voters that Trump has just alienated, the actress noted, and that's all the better for those voters' interests. She writes:
No word yet on what Trump has to say about Ferrera's comments, though he may insist that she stole his idea of writing open letters. Read the actress's entire letter over at the Huffington Post. Photo credit: Getty Images This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Producer Says 'Deadpool' Will Be Rated 'Hard R': 'It's Graphic' Posted: There have been promises before that "Deadpool" will be a different breed of superhero movie, and that includes the film's rating. Star Ryan Reynolds has said in the past that the flick will be rated R, and now, producer Simon Kinberg is doubling down on that declaration. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, in which he also debuted a new "Deadpool" photo (see below), Kinberg said that audiences would not be disappointed in the colorful, foul-mouthed hero's onscreen representation. "'Deadpool' is a hard R," Kinberg told EW. "It's graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don't." In fact, the flick is so dark that its director, Tim Miller (making his feature debut), linked it to a surprising source of inspiration. "I felt 'Fight Club' and Tyler Durden were good corollaries," Miller told EW. "We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world." Check out a new photo from the flick below. "Deadpool" is due in theaters on February 12. 'Back to the Future': 30 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About the Time-Travel Classic Posted: Since its release 30 years ago this week (on July 3, 1985), "Back to the Future" has been everyone's favorite time-travel movie. It's remained a must-see long enough for Marty McFly's own kids to enjoy it. Even so, there's much you may not know about the beloved sci-fi comedy, from the unused ideas that popped up in other films, to why there has yet to (thankfully) be a reboot. To celebrate the film's 30th anniversary, we're firing up the flux capacitor and traveling back 30 years to learn the secrets of "Back to the Future." 1. Director Robert Zemeckis and co-screenwriter Bob Gale (pictured above) tried for years to create a time-travel story. The key came in 1980, when Gale was looking over his father's high school yearbook and wondered whether he and his father would have been friends if they'd both been teenagers at the same time. 2. Zemeckis and Gale took their idea to Steven Spielberg, who'd already made three movies with them ("I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "1941," and "Used Cars"). Spielberg liked the idea, but the pair held off, fearing that they'd get a reputation in Hollywood as filmmakers who only got work because of their relationship with Spielberg. 3. According to Gale, the pair pitched the script 40 times without success. Disney rejected the idea as too Oedipal. Columbia, on the other hand, felt the film wasn't sexy enough. (This was the era of "Porky's" and the teen sex comedy.) Only after Zemeckis had a hit on his own, his 1984 work-for-hire "Romancing the Stone," did the director have the clout to get "Back to the Future" made -- at Universal, with Spielberg producing. 4. Then-Universal chief Sid Sheinberg wanted the heroine's mother renamed Lorraine, after his wife, "Jaws" star Lorraine Gary. He also wanted the film's title changed to "Spaceman from Pluto," reportedly believing that no film with the word "future" in the title could be a hit. Zemeckis and Gale accepted the first request but rejected the second. 5. Marty McFly was named after a production assistant Zemeckis and Gale had known on the set of "Used Cars." 6. Bullying villain Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson, pictured) was named for Ned Tanen, a studio executive Zemeckis and Gale had clashed with during the making of "Used Cars." 7. To play Marty, the filmmakers wanted Michael J. Fox, but he was unavailable due to his commitment to his hit NBC sitcom, "Family Ties." Instead, they hired Eric Stoltz, fresh from his star-making dramatic performance in "Mask." As the shoot progressed, however, it became clear to the filmmakers that Stoltz wasn't working out. His performance was too "heavy" and lacked the comic energy they were looking for. Five weeks into the shoot, Zemeckis made the painful decision to fire the actor and replace him with Fox, who had arranged to shoot "Family Ties" during the day and "Back to the Future" at night. You can see some of the extant footage of Stoltz as Marty, along with the filmmakers discussing his firing, in this video. 8. Crispin Glover, who played Marty's father, is actually three years younger than Fox. 9. Christopher Lloyd landed the role of Marty's inventor pal, Doc Brown, beating out his "Buckaroo Banzai" co-star John Lithgow, as well as Dudley Moore and Jeff Goldblum. 10. Einstein, Doc's dog and the time machine's first test pilot, was originally written as a chimp. 11. Lea Thompson was cast as Marty's mother because the filmmakers liked her chemistry with Stoltz in the movie "The Wild Life." 12. Yes, that's Billy Zane (far left), in his first feature role, as one of teenage Biff's thug pals. 13. Melora Hardin, best known for playing Jan on NBC's "The Office," was originally cast as Marty's girlfriend, Jennifer. It would have been a big break for her, but before she'd shot a single scene, Stoltz was fired, and she was fired too because she was so much taller than Fox. Claudia Wells was hired in her place. 14. The famous Hill Valley clock tower, so pivotal to the plot, stands on Courthouse Square, a set on the Universal backlot that's been used in such famous films as "To Kill a Mockingbird" and the Spielberg-produced "Gremlins." After its use in the "BTTF" trilogy, it popped up again on TV's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and in the movie "Bruce Almighty." 15. Originally, Gale's time machine was a stationary box -- a refrigerator, in fact. To harness the power needed to make it travel through time, there was to be a scene where the fridge (with Marty inside), was taken to a nuclear test site in Nevada, where Doc Brown would somehow capture the energy from an atomic explosion. Zemeckis ultimately rejected this idea, fearing that impressionable kids would accidentally lock themselves in refrigerators and suffocate. But producer Spielberg liked the fridge-nuking idea enough to use it 23 years later in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." 16. Instead, Zemeckis came up with the idea of a mobile time machine, which led to the idea of using a DeLorean. The gull-wing-door car, already something of a time capsule joke even in 1985, was ideal, Zemeckis figured, because it could easily be mistaken for a flying saucer. 17. The filmmakers had a product-placement deal with Pepsi (there's even a Pepsi Free joke written into the script). The cola bottler objected to a similar joke about Tab (a product of rival soda maker Coca-Cola), but the filmmakers refused to cut it. 18. For Marty's all-important rock 'n' roll performance at the school dance, Fox learned to mimic the guitar moves with his hands, but his showboating solo was dubbed by guitarist Tim May. His vocals were dubbed by singer Mark Campbell of Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. 19. Remarkably, there are only 32 special-effects shots in the movie. 20. "Back to the Future" cost $19 million to make, including the $3 million spent on re-shooting the Stoltz footage. 21. Zemeckis was worried that the movie's box office would suffer because Fox was unavailable to promote it, having to be in London shooting a "Family Ties" special. 22. In fact, the film earned $211 million and became the top-grossing movie of 1985. 23. The film was No. 1 on the box office charts for 11 of 12 weeks throughout the summer of 1985. (It was knocked out of the top spot once, by "National Lampoon's European Vacation," but then it returned.) 24. "Future" was nominated for four Oscars. It won the prize for Best Sound Effects Editing. It was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Original Song, for Huey Lewis' "The Power of Love." 25. President Ronald Reagan was a fan of the film, even appreciating Doc's joke at his expense. Six months after the film's release, during the 1986 State of the Union address, Reagan quoted Doc's famous line: "Where we're going, we don't need roads." 26. Claudia Wells dropped out of the sequels, reportedly to take care of her cancer-stricken mother, which is why she was replaced with Elisabeth Shue. 27. Crispin Glover also didn't appear in the sequels because of a salary dispute. Glover claims he was being given less than half of what the other principals were being offered. He also has said he believes his notoriously demented guest appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman" scared the filmmakers away. Nonetheless, he eventually reconciled with Zemeckis and played Grendel in the director's motion-capture epic, "Beowulf." 28. For his stand-up comedy performances, Tom Wilson composed a song that answers all the annoying questions people have asked him whenever they recognize him as Biff. 29. Zemeckis and Gale are preparing a stage musical version of "Back to the Future," due to premiere in London later this year. 30. As far as a film reboot is concerned, however, Zemeckis and Gale have said it will happen over their dead bodies. They mean that literally, as they made sure their Universal contract stipulated that no one could remake the film while either of them is still alive.
