9 TV Love Triangle Losers We Kinda Feel Sorry For Posted: What becomes of the TV brokenhearted? It seems they either eventually find happiness, get their own spinoff, or have to move their sorry selves back to Pittsburgh. The tense love triangle is a TV show staple, and unfortunately, when two of the three points end up together, the third member of the scenario ends up by their lonesome. We always feel a bit bad for the third wheel, even if they're clearly inferior to their competition. From Dawson to Aiden, here are 9 TV love triangle losers that always have a place in our hearts. DEA Goes to War Against Pablo Escobar in Netflix's 'Narcos' Trailer Posted: "if there's one thing I've learned in the narco world, it's that life is more complicated than you think." So says DEA agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook, "Gone Girl") in the new trailer for Netflix's upcoming '80s drug crime drama "Narcos." He and his partner, Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal, "Game of Thrones"), learn just how complicated it can be as they go from busting hippies in flip-flops to pursuing some of the most dangerous drug lords in the world - including the infamous Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). Watch the trailer. The trailer presents a lot of action and a lot of tense politicking. There's money. There's spying. There's violence. There's a lot of bad '80s fashion. It looks terrific, and the gritty drama should be a nice complement to Netflix's slate of originals. All 10 episodes of "Narcos" will be available to stream on August 28. Want more stuff like this? This Is the Most Badass Rancor Costume You'll Ever See Posted: The Rancor from "Star Wars" was already an amazingly memorable beast, but now it's officially been immortalized in the "Next-Level Insane" tier of the Comic-Con cosplay canon. (It's a thing. Look it up.) Effects artist Frank Ippolito pulled off an insanely detailed costume rendition of the carnivorous reptomammal based on references from an original test costume used for the "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" production team. What's more? The Tested team put together a vid to show you exactly how it was made. Fascinating stuff. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The Top 10 Greatest Movie Performances by Kids Posted: How do these tiny children fit so much talent in their tiny bodies? We may never know! These are the 10 best performances by kids that we'll never get over. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Wedding Crashers' Cast: Where Are They Now? Posted: If "Wedding Crashers" had been a real wedding, we'd owe it a gift of tin or aluminum now, since those are the traditional 10th anniversary presents. When the raunchy romantic comedy came out 10 years ago this week (on July 15, 2005), it proved a career highlight for stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, while pushing the careers of Isla Fisher and Bradley Cooper to the next level. In the decade since, some of the movie's stars have flourished while others have had a more tumultuous ride. Here's what's happened to the whole "Wedding" party since the last slice of cake went into the freezer. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Is Ben Higgins Too Good to Be the 2016 Bachelor? Posted: Ben Higgins is the next Bachelor. His rose duty should begin in September and start airing on ABC in January 2016. None of this is official yet, but it was basically confirmed by Twitter when Ben H. made his departure this past week on "The Bachelorette." The Internet could not cope with Kaitlyn Bristowe's latest bad call, since Ben was deemed "perfect," and now E! News and Reality Steve have confirmed that Ben is "The Bachelor" for 2016. ABC will announce the news when they feel like it. Is this good news? If you genuinely like Ben, then no, not really. This is where the adage "If you love someone, set them free" comes into play. "The Bachelor" franchise has a long history of casting leads that fans initially love, only to see those same fans quickly turn on the leads when they start handing out roses. We are a fickle, fickle fandom. We giveth, and we taketh away at the first sign of bad behavior/a bad decision/boredom. Almost no one has ever emerged unscathed -- even someone like Sean Lowe, who actually found lasting love, got a few kicks during his season. For most leads, it gets worse. Look at Kaitlyn right now as "The Bachelorette." She was very popular going into this season, especially when it comes to Kaitlyn vs. Britt. Fans strongly supported Kaitlyn at first, then things took a dive. That will happen at some point with Ben, that's just how it works. There was another Ben that fans liked after his "Bachelorette" season ended, Ben Flajnik, and look how things went for him. Ben H. seems like a nice guy, if a bit on the dull side, in terms of reality TV watchability. His personality (as much as we've seen) doesn't seem like it'll really pop on screen. That's not a bad thing on a human level, it's just kind of like Desiree Hartsock as "The Bachelorette." She was a sweetheart, and her "journey" did have a happily ever after, but it was mostly a snooze along the way. Then again, the producers might amp up the crazy when it comes to the women cast opposite Ben H., to balance out his less than demonstrative personality. Maybe that's a good thing -- more Ashley S. lunacy alongside maybe one or two actually sane women. Or it could just leave fans frustrated. Since there aren't really any better options among Kaitlyn's guys, Ben H. is probably a good choice. At least it's not Nick. (Unless they change their minds!) And Ben H. could buck the trend and be the first 100 percent beloved Bachelor, with no Jason Mesnick, Brad Womack, Jake Pavelka, Juan Pablo Galavis bashing. (Remember how much fans campaigned for Juan Pablo to be the Bachelor? Yikes!) But the more fans like someone, the more disappointed they get when that person does not turn out to be perfect in every way. Do you like the idea of Ben H. as the next Bachelor? Will you still support him if it emerges that he is, like the rest of us, a flawed human being? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Dan Aykroyd Confirms 'Ghostbusters' Cameo, Then Deletes Tweet Posted: Maybe Dan Aykroyd wasn't supposed to call anyone. The new "Ghostbusters" reboot has been filming in Boston with a new cast, but now it has been confirmed that one of the OGs is joining the Paul Feig film -- although it sounds like he won't be playing a Ghostbuster. Dan Aykroyd -- who co-wrote the first two movies and played Dr. Raymond Stantz -- was seen filming on set, then confirmed his involvement in a tweet sent July 14. But then he deleted that tweet about two hours later. Oops? Perhaps it was an unauthorized spoiler of a cameo that was meant to be a surprise? Indie Revolver first shared the news on Dan's cameo, posting this report on Tuesday (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD): The same day, Dan tweeted: "On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig lady GB'S are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating! #ghostbusters." He deleted that tweet, but his reps confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that he will be in the movie. There has been no further comment from the studio or director Paul Feig. Dan still has some tweets up about the new "Ghostbusters," but they are from the start of filming on June 19: "Ghostbusters" is scheduled for release on July 22, 2016. What do you think about Dan Aykroyd joining this movie, but (apparently) not as Ray? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Quiz: Which 'Clueless' Character Are You? Posted: Okay, so you're probably going, "Is this, like, a 'Clueless' quiz or what?" But seriously, that's exactly what it is, and you're welcome. We know you've seen "Clueless" a million times and can quote it verbatim. You've probably even spent some time thinking about which character is SO YOU. But now, thanks to science, our lack of anything better to do, and a series of tubes we call the internet, you can discover once and for all which character is truly your spirit animal. Godspeed to all virgins who can't drive. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Game of Thrones' Season 6: Actors Share Exciting One-Word Script Teases Posted: "Game of Thrones" only recently ended Season 5 and they are just starting Season 6, so there was no footage to show at Comic-Con and no major spoilers shared at the panel. However, after the Comic-Con panel, HBO's Making Game of Thrones asked several cast members two questions: 1) What GoT scene would they have loved to have been in, and 2) What one-word tease would they give for Season 6, based off the newly delivered scripts? Read the full story for the scene answers, but we're all about Season 6 right now so we wanted whatever hints they could share from the scripts. It's interesting to learn who hadn't even read the pages by that point. Hannah Murray (Gilly) said she hadn't received her scripts yet. "Mystery, would be a good word. We don't do hard copies anymore because of security but I think they're on their way." John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) read his scripts and gave this description: "Rich. Bursting with ideas. Game of Thrones has always been bursting with tiny details, and the first few scripts we've received are absolutely following that trend." GAH! SEND THEM TO US! Sam and Gilly just left The Wall on a journey to Oldtown so Sam can train to be a Maester. That's a long trip, so we're very curious to see what happens along the way -- and how it goes when they're back near Sam's old stomping grounds. Conleth Hill (Varys) stuck with the one-word tease to dub the scripts "Amazing." Safe, but probably accurate. Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell Baratheon) couldn't comment on the scripts. "I haven't read them yet. I got them [Thursday] night. On the long-haul flight home I can sit and power through them. There will be no entertainment system switched on on that airplane, I will be reading five GoT scripts." Five of them, eh? There are 10 episodes to every season but maybe only the first five scripts are out -- or out for the people who are OK'd to read them. Sounds like Margaery at least lives to Episode 5! So that's something. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), perhaps wisely, also chose to avoid reading the scripts. "I haven't looked at them. I was like, 'I'm not about to look at them before Comic-Con,' because I'd be too tempted to say stuff. All we want to do is be able to say, 'By the way, this happens and it's so cool and I want to talk to everyone about it,' but we can't. It's harder for us than people think." We can imagine. Carice van Houten (Melisandre) did the same, saying of the scripts, "Zero because I haven't seen them. I was afraid to start to read them while I was here, I thought I'd spoil something." Maybe she'd say something about Jon Snow if she really knew what happened, or her face would give it away, especially if her character were directly involved. Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) had this one-word script description: "Unpredictable." That's not a bad tease... So much of Season 6 will be unpredictable in general, since Book 6 has yet to be released. We're excited (and nervous!) to see what happens next. At least we know Bran Stark will be back, and it would be nice to see Rickon Stark and Osha again. One guy who has also seen the new scripts is GoT language creator/consultant David Peterson who is now working on translating more Dothraki language for Daenerys Targaryen's scenes in Season 6. As he told Zap2it: It's going to be a long time before we see any of this in action, but more teases should be doled out later in the year, with a great (we hope) trailer and the Season 6 premiere coming early in 2016. 'Sisters' Trailer Shows Tina and Amy at Their Naughty, Immature Best Posted: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler already seem like they were separated at birth, so "Sisters" is just the natural next step. The movie's first trailer was just released and shows the comedy stars in the kind of raunchy, immature roles that usually go to man-children like Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler. Since this film is opening on December 18, the same days as "Star Wars: Episode VII," you could consider it counter-programming. It doesn't have a prayer of dominating the box office, but it's a good option if all of the "Star Wars" screenings are full. And it'll be great to see later on DVD, especially if they include a gag reel. Anyway, here's the trailer: Already love the ballerina music box scene. Here's the synopsis Universal shared with the trailer: Tina and Amy alone are worth a ticket, but the rest of the cast is great too: Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin. First 'Joy' Trailer Shows Jennifer Lawrence Is Ready for Another Oscar Posted: "Joy" is actually the name of Jennifer Lawrence's character, but it's also how you'll feel watching the epic first trailer for this movie. Let us all bow down, once again, to Katniss/Mystique, who shows so much range just in this trailer alone that they may as well engrave her name on an Academy Award right now. "Joy" is also a good title for something that reunites director David O. Russell with his impressive "Silver Linings Playbook" cast -- JLaw, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro. (What is this, the 107th movie Jen and Bradley have made together? No complaints.) The trailer, which includes a Christmassy version of The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," is above. The movie's plot suggests there's more complexity of emotion to the story than pure joy. Here's the synopsis 20th Century Fox shared with the trailer: That is quite a cast -- and with a December 25, 2015 release date, this is clearly An Oscar Contender. 18 Comic Book Movie Casting Picks That Fans Surprisingly Didn't Hate Posted: Marvel and DC fans are very vocal. If they don't like something, they take it to a very Stage-5 nerd rage place. Especially when it comes to casting their favorite heroes and villains. But sometimes, the fans rejoice and nod approvingly from their race car bunk beds at the Hollywood stars appearing in their favorite comic books-turned-movies -- like Paul Rudd in "Ant-Man." From "Iron Man" to "The Dark Knight," here are 18 casting choices that earned fandom's approval. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
New 'Fantastic Four' Trailer Doubles Down on Doom Posted: The first trailer for the new "Fantastic Four" movie was pretty -- (sorry, lame alert) -- fantastic, focusing a lot on the plot and action. A new trailer just came out at Comic-Con, focusing a bit more on the characters' teamwork to fight Doctor Doom (Toby Kebbell). The new trailer starts with "insane" Young Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller) flashback footage, and also emphasizes the family aspect as the Fantastic Four face their new enemy. As we're shown, "There's strength in numbers." Check it out: This "Fantastic Four" reboot, also starring Michael B. Jordan , Kate Mara , Jamie Bell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson will be released August 7. A sequel is already scheduled for 2017. What do you think so far -- are you glad that they showed more of Doom or are you just shrugging this whole thing off? Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Here's Why 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Will Not Have a Director's Cut Posted: Joss Whedon's first cut of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was way longer than what aired at 2 hours, 22 minutes. But even though the eventual Blu-ray/DVD will include special features, there will be no official director's cut -- or anything like Bryan Singer's new "Rogue Cut" for "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Why not? While at Comic-Con this past weekend, Joss was on a NerdHQ panel moderated by Zachary Levi, and a fan asked about the possibility of an "Age of Ultron" director's cut. Here's Joss's reply: Watch his whole panel here (the director's cut answer is around the 2:30 mark): Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talked to Cinema Blend about Joss's original cut of "Age of Ultron" and seemed to agree with Joss about people not really wanting to see the footage they cut: Not quite true. There are definitely fans who would love to see full director's cut versions, and not just deleted scenes or alternate endings. But we have to trust that the directors and studios know what they're doing in just sticking to theatrical versions with a crapload of other extras to sell those DVDs. Want more stuff like this? Best of Late Night TV: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler Play True Confessions; LeBron James' Faceketball Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. "The Tonight Show" had too many cool things going on Tuesday night, it almost would've been better to spread them out. "Trainwreck" star LeBron James -- who also plays some basketball in his free time -- played "Faceketball" with Jimmy Fallon. They both wore net headbands and shot balls at each other's faces. (!) You have to see LeBron's expression when Jimmy scores points on him. Priceless. That was awesome enough, but wait! The incomparable team of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (love the new hair) also played True Confessions with Jimmy, in a reunion of former SNL Weekend Update co-anchors. (Seth Meyers, you should've jumped in.) Amy, Tina and Jimmy had to take turns reading either lie or truth statements, then the others had to interrogate them to determine the truth. The result was both amusing and revealing. Watch both videos: Emma Stone -- pause to appreciate her dress -- talked to "Conan" about being prescribed steroids while doing her first musical on Broadway. She lost her voice pretty often, and one night it was when Meryl Streep was in the crowd. She took steroids for her voice and one of the side-effects was sleeplessness. And then craziness. She didn't do anything too crazy but she went online to read about making her own body lotion and went to Amazon to bulk buy all the products to make her own lotion. She never went ahead and made it, because ... why would she? It was crazy. Emma also shared a Woody Allen story. He once asked her to explain Twitter to him. She tried to give him an example of a tweet online and ended off reading a quote that happened to be one of his own movie lines (from "Crimes and Misdemeanors") that Joyce Carol Oates had posted. So Emma and Conan decided this is more proof that Woody should be on Twitter to share his one-liners himself. Lindsey Vonn was a guest on "Conan" and gave the host a true abs test, punching him in the gut. It was based on a video Lindsey posted of herself being punched in the stomach to show off her rock-hard abs. Best part: When Andy Richter wanted to jump in. James Corden's "The Late Late Show" returned with another classic round of Carpool Karaoke -- this time with both Rod Stewart riding shotgun and then A$AP in the back. Want more stuff like this?
