New Trailers: 'Ben-Hur,' 'Now You See Me 2' and 'Central Intelligence' Posted: 16 Mar 2016 11:00 PM PDT In this roundup of new trailers, we have a double dose of Morgan Freeman for you. Unfortunately, he's not in all three, as he'd probably fit in well in Central Intelligence. Ben-Hur We've seen this story before. More than a few times, actually. But Lew Wallace's 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ is one worth retelling, or re-adapting, over and over. Each time with the latest in cinemtatic technology, be it widescreen spectacle or, now, plenty of CG effects. This one comes to us from director Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and stars Jack Huston (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) as the title nobleman turned slave turned chariot champion. Also Morgan Freeman with dreadlocks. See it in theaters starting August... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Star Wars' Sound Editor Used a Kitty Cat to Make Kylo Ren More Intimidating Posted: 16 Mar 2016 09:30 PM PDT In one of the most intense scenes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey (Daisy Ridley) is held captive by the First Order and is being interrogated by the villainous Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). As Ren attempts to extract information from her by using the dark side of the Force, Rey's own Force powers begin to awaken and she heroically stands her ground. But the one thing fans probably didn't know about this moment was that the sound department used a purring cat named Pork Chop to make Kylo Ren's Force powers sound more threatening. During a chat with supervising sound editor Matthew Wood at the SXSW Film Festival, where members of the Force Awakens production team were promoting a fantastic behind-the-scenes documentary due out on the film's upcoming Blu-ray, he... See the New Tricked-Out Turtle Truck in a 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' Clip Posted: 16 Mar 2016 08:00 PM PDT The upcoming sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is going to be full of nostalgic fan service. The follow-up to 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is adding a number of favorite characters, good and bad, including the alien Krang, the anti-hero vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell) and the mutated thugs Bebop and Rocksteady. Also, the four "Heroes in a Half Shell" -- Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Raphael -- will now have new transport that's basically a fresh take on an old vehicle. Instead of the classic Turtle Van, the movie features a tricked-out garbage truck (according to its toy, it's called the Turtle Tactical Truck). And you can see it in action in this clip that debuted at this week's Kids Choice... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Posted: 16 Mar 2016 04:00 PM PDT Yesterday news broke that Harrison Ford would once again be starring as Indiana Jones in an adventure to be directed by Steven Spielberg, due out in 2019. Many questions immediately arose, especially since Ford will soon turn 74 years of age. Meanwhile, Ford's other iconic role, Han Solo in the Star Wars universe, will definitely be getting younger in a spin-off movie. Based on a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan, the movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) and is due out in theaters on May 25, 2018. Casting has been underway for some time, and reports indicate that thousands of actors have been considered. Back in January, we heard that the list had been shortened to eight candidates, including Miles Teller... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
