'Kimmy Schmidt' Star Tituss Burgess Launches Pinot Noir Brand Posted: Tituss Burgess was easily the breakout star of the first season of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," cementing his status as fan favorite with his onscreen alter ego's song, "Peeno Noir," a delightfully idiosyncratic ode to the male anatomy. Now, Burgess is bringing his signature brand to the masses in the form of a new wine.

'Once Upon a Time' Renewed for Season 6 at ABC Posted: The fairy tale will continue for fans of "Once Upon a Time": ABC has renewed the fantastical drama for a sixth season. "Once" co-creator and co-showrunner Adam Horowitz tweeted out the news on Thursday, revealing that the residents of Storybrooke would continue their Disney-inspired adventures for the foreseeable future.
"Thrilled to announce that #OnceUponATime has been picked up for season 6!" Horowitz wrote on Twitter. "Thank you ABC and thank you to the most extraordinary fans ever!" While Variety notes that the show's ratings have been declining steadily in its fifth season (a recent episode yielded a series-low audience of just 4.4 million viewers, after averaging 9.2 million viewers in season four), "Once" remains a juggernaut on social media, where it has built a rabid fan base. That passionate devotion no doubt inspired ABC to hit the "renew" button, and continuing the introduction of buzzy storylines (including the recent "Frozen" arc) will surely be a goal for showrunners going forward. "Once Upon a Time" is currently in the midst of its fifth season. It will return from its three-month winter hiatus for new episodes beginning on Sunday, March 6. 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Digital, Blu-ray Release Dates Revealed Posted: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is still going strong in cinemas, but fans will soon be able to enjoy the flick at home, too: Disney announced on Thursday the official release dates for the film's digital, DVD, and Blu-ray formats. The digital edition of "The Force Awakens" will be made available first, beginning on April 1 (and no, that's not an April Fools joke). Multiple online retailers will offer the Digital HD version. Physical formats of the flick will follow on April 5, with a Blu-ray Combo Pack (featuring the flick in three formats: Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD) and a standard DVD version hitting shelves. While bonus features of the digital downloads are set to vary by specific retailer, the physical editions of the film will include the following extras (as outlined by StarWars.com):

Mischa Barton, Marla Maples Said to Join 'Dancing With the Stars' Cast Posted: Long time no see, Mischa Barton. The now 30-year-old actress -- best known as Marissa Cooper on "The O.C." in the early '00s -- is returning to TV to compete on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Season 22, which premieres Monday, March 21. That's the scoop from Entertainment Tonight and Us Weekly. It was previously revealed that "Fuller House" star Jodie Sweetin would compete (she has since been confirmed by ABC), and that "The Facts of Life" alum Kim Fields and ANTM hunk Nyle DiMarco would also be on the spring 2016 season. ET said Mischa will be dancing with pro Artem Chigvintsev. Jodie Sweetin has already been revealed as dancing with Keo Motsepe. ET also said "Good Morning America" anchor Ginger Zee will be on the spring season, dancing with Val Chmerkovskiy. According to PureDWTS, Marla Maples (!) yes, Donald Trump's ex, will be dancing this season as well. @DWTSGossip listed her with pro Tony Dovolani. They also have MMA fighter Paige VanZant paired with Mark Ballas. Nyle is meant to be dancing with Peta Murgatroyd. NFL player Antonio Brown is said to be dancing with Sharna Burgess, and NFL-er Von Miller is said to be paired with Witney Carson. Meanwhile, there will be several changes behind-the-scenes this season. Not only is Julianne Hough leaving as a judge, with Len Goodman taking his seat back, Derek Hough is also exiting for a Broadway gig. This will be the first Hough-free season since Season 12. But the great Edyta Sliwinska is returning as a pro, after competing in the first 10 seasons, and @DWTSGossip said Sasha Farber is also returning as a pro, after competing with Snooki and stealing scenes as a member of the pro troupe. The full cast will be revealed this Tuesday, March 8 on GMA. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Sam Smith Apologizes, Takes Twitter Break After Oscars Speech 'Hiccup' Posted: Sam Smith had the best of intentions, but when picking up his Oscar for Best Original Song for "Spectre," he misquoted Ian McKellen and got shaken and stirred by the Internet. "I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen and he said that no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar, and if this is the case, even if it isn't the case, I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world," Smith said in his speech. "I stand here tonight as a proud gay man, and I hope we can all stand together as equals one day." Backstage, Smith reacted to winning on a night of diversity, during a year when there was an increase in LGBT visibility with films like "Carol" and "The Danish Girl": "It means the world to me. When I read the Ian McKellen piece, I was just bowled over by it, and I wanted to take this opportunity to show how much I care about my community. In the past in my career, people have said at the beginning that I didn't and stuff, and I just wanted to make it clear how much I truly do care about the LGBT community." It was a moving speech, and a worthy sentiment, but Smith was far from the first openly gay man to win an Oscar. As The Hollywood Reporter noted, "Elton John, Dustin Lance Black, Howard Ashman, and Scott Rudin were all openly gay when they accepted their Oscars. John and Ashman both won best original song Oscars, as have fellow openly gay artists Melissa Etheridge (in 2007 for 'I Need To Wake Up' from An Inconvenient Truth) and Stephen Sondheim." Sir Ian, being simply The Best at all times, kept things positive when gently correcting Smith on his own original quote:
Smith responded to McKellen:
Sometimes it's best just to leave the Twitterverse to itself. Hopefully he's now enjoying his moment in peace and quiet -- or out partying with Sir Ian McKellen. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
12 Best Animated Movies Not Made by Disney Posted: When we were kids, Disney movies took up a generous portion of our VHS shelf -- and for good reason. "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" are just a few of the formative classics that shaped our childhood.
But the Mouse House isn't the only studio we have care space for when it comes to animated films. In honor of the fifth anniversary of "Rango", here are a few non-Disney animated movies that you gotta add to your collection.รข?? 'A Beautiful Planet' Trailer: Jennifer Lawrence Narrates Epic Space Documentary Posted: "A Beautiful Planet," a new documentary from IMAX and NASA, narrated by Jennifer Lawrence, takes us onto the International Space to hang out -- float out? -- with a crew of astronauts around the world, and see our impact on the environment from the unique vantage point of space. Astronaut 1: "The best part about being an astronaut is looking back at our home planet -- especially at night, the cities are so bright and so vibrant and so colorful." Astronaut 2: "It is just overwhelmingly beautiful." It is truly beautiful. The trailer. Our planet from space. And the way people from different backgrounds can get along when we need to work together to solve problems. (Kumbayaaaa...) The only downside, in a way, is that "A Beautiful Planet" is showing exclusively in IMAX and IMAX 3D theaters, starting April 29. IMAX will make these visuals even more spectacular, but not everyone has access to an IMAX theater, so it's a little bit limiting. But maybe it's worth a special trip? Want more stuff like this? Oscar-Winning Costume Designer Responds to That Awkward Lack of Applause Posted: Is it that taxing to clap? When someone wins an Oscar, and you are in the audience, wouldn't you just naturally put your hands together to congratulate them? It's not like Jenny Beavan is a controversial figure whose politics might lead someone to protest her win. We don't even know what the heck she believes in, other than bedazzling motorcycle jackets. But when the "Mad Max: Fury Road" costume designer picked up her Oscar, it was noted that several aisle seat dwellers just couldn't force their left and right hands to join forces. It turned into a Vine viewed more than 38 million times: Jenny Beavan talked to The Hollywood Reporter about her chosen Oscars outfit and the lack of aisle seat applause. Spoiler alert: She's totally fine with it!
She seems like a really cool lady, and good for her for being fine with the reaction. Beavan has been nominated for Oscars 10 times and this is her second win, so she can pretty much dress however she wants and be applauded or booed and it won't take away from the fact that she has more nominations and wins than Leo and a lot of other folks. She shall ride eternal -- shiny, and chrome! Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The First 'Ghostbusters' Trailer Is Finally Here to Slime You Posted: Who you gonna call? No one, until after watching the long-awaited first "Ghostbusters" trailer! The preview starts with a serious nod to 30 years ago, when four scientists saved New York. So it's not like they're completely ignoring that there was an original franchise. "This summer," the 2016 trailer teases, "a new team will answer the call." We're quickly introduced to the new four-person crew -- Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann, and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan -- with Kristen Wiig getting slimed by a ghost within the first 40 seconds.
This is not your father's "Ghostbusters,"and not just because this crew has a hot male secretary played by Chris Hemsworth. We're told that someone is creating a device that amplifies paranormal activity. And, as McCarthy's character explains, "There's a bigger picture at hand here. These ghosts can possess the human form." We see McCarthy get slimed, then go full Linda Blair, with Jones slapping the ghost right out of her. What we don't see in the two-and-a-half minute first trailer is anyone else in the cast, beyond a flash of Hemsworth (and Slimer!). The focus is fully on introducing the four new leads. Watch the trailer: Thoughts? "Ghostbusters" is scheduled for release July 15, 2016. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Leonardo DiCaprio's 'P-ssy Posse' Is Now Apparently 'The Wolf Pack' Posted: You may have wondered what Leonardo DiCaprio did after his big Oscars win. Clearly, he partied -- we're talking about Leo -- but based on reports from Page Six and The New York Daily News, he really bro-ed out with his boys, as opposed to just magically summoning a dozen new Victoria's Secret models. (That may have happened later, though.) "He ended up at Ago — rolled in around midnight with his whole pack of boys," one partygoer told the Daily News, saying Leo met up with actors Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Vincent Laresca, and nightclub kingpin Richie Akiva. In the '90s, Leo's crew was known as the "Pussy Posse," but perhaps because of "The Wolf of Wall Street" or maybe some attempt at evolving past that alliterative but sexist title, they have supposedly changed the name of their boy band. That's what another partygoer told the NY Daily News, anyway, saying, "They (apparently) called themselves 'The Wolf Pack.' The crew was literally howling like wolves all night. They kept chanting, 'Wolf Pack, Wolf Pack, Wolf Pack!'" Leo's vaping pipe made another appearance at this event, and it's said that he almost left his Oscar statue behind when heading out, but one of his "helpers" went back to get it (along with a bottle of bubbly). Page Six had a similar story, about the partying and the "wolf pack." They saw him attend the Governor's Ball and the Vanity Fair party before heading to Ago on Melrose Avenue. A witness told Page Six, "Leo was with all his boys. It was a lot of dudes." The same witness added, "A couple of the guys kept standing on the couch and lifting the Oscar and passing it around," and they kept chanting, "Wolf pack, wolf pack, wolf pack." The same unnamed witness may have talked to both outlets, but it's still kind of a funny visual -- a bunch of 40-year-old dudes chanting for themselves as "The Wolf Pack." But at least they're supporting House Stark. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Zootopia' Infographic: Disney's Wild New Movie by the Numbers Posted: How many animators did it take to make Disney's "Zootopia"? 7 Things We Learned at Paul Feig's 'Ghostbusters' Trailer Event Posted: "It's not a sequel, or rebootquel." "Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig made that very clear Wednesday to a packed house of reporters and die-hard fans for the world premiere of the film's first trailer. Sony spared no expense, flying out dozens of fans to the Culver City lot -- in costume, with custom proton packs (!) -- to screen our first look at the spooks, spectres and ghosts that stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones will be busting. The verdict? For movie fans, the original film is as sacred a cow as you can get. And, tonally, Feig's film seems very committed to honoring that legacy. Sure, it's not a sequel, officially, but the trailer clearly indicates that this story will also be an origin tale, one that has beats similar to that which came before. Feig even stressed that what appealed to him most about taking on the project was that he wanted to see this next generation of Ghostbusters build themselves, and their DIY tech, from the ground up -- much like Venkman and Co. did over 30 years ago. Some jokes don't land, others very much hit the mark -- including the gag involving a purple-wigged McKinnon, and Jones' delivery of "the power of Patty compels you!" It is confusing, however, that the new movie doesn't acknowledge the events of the original, but the trailer for it does. (Also? Instead of "Four Scientists Saved New York City," the trailer's opening text should read: "Three scientists and a Winston." *pushes up glasses, puffs on inhaler.) It may be even more confusing, and potentially off-putting, for fans of the original to see its cast cameo in this new film in roles that are not the characters they played in 1984. If the crowd cared about continuity, they didn't show it. After a standing ovation, the audience demanded a second viewing of the trailer. Soon after, Feig was joined by his co-writer, Katie Dippold ("Spy"), and original "Ghostbusters" director, Ivan Reitman, to discuss the origins of the 2016 film, the 1984 original and what's next for the future of the franchise. Here are the highlights: 1. More than 30 years ago, the first "Ghostbusters" took shape over two weeks in the basement of a house on Martha's Vineyard that was home to Dan Aykroyd, Reitman and the late Harold Ramis. 2. Slimer is definitely in the new movie. And he has more than just a cameo. The "ugly lil' spud" received a slight upgrade from the original version; he has a scarier visage, with beadier eyes and pointy, almost claw-like fingers. 3. Aykroyd and Reitman didn't know, or expect, Slimer to become a piece of iconography from the film. They didn't even have the name, Slimer, at first. According to Reitman, it was always referred to during production as the "Belushi ghost," referring to the late John Belushi, Akyroyd's former collaborator on the project. "We didn't know what it was gonna be called," Reitman added, "only that it was going to eat a lot." 4. Feig repeatedly stressed his love and appreciation of the original film, and that fans can expect to find more callbacks to the 1984 classic in this new version. (But he did not spoil what those will be.) You can see one in the trailer, however: During a quick shot of Times Square being overrun with ghosts, a billboard flashes the words "That's a Big..." next to a picture of a Twinkie. Somewhere, Winston is smiling. 5. Feig was first approached about doing the film while he was making "Spy." Appropriately enough, he got a call from Reitman, who asked if he would be interested in directing. 6. McCarthy, who plays the team leader of sorts, was not an instant casting choice for the project, despite her and Feig's previous collaborations. "We didn't write these characters with anyone in mind," Feig revealed, adding that it took two months of going through potential lists of names before settling on the "perfect people" for the roles. 7. Improv was a key component to the original's success, and it will be for Feig's film. The director and his co-writer discussed how they kept the comedy "fresh" on set, relying on Dippold writing alternate lines on Post-Its and passing them to Feig as they shot, which he would then call-out to the actors on set. That is how one of the trailer's biggest laughs, "the power of Patty compels you!", came to be. This process allowed Feig to "capture that sense of lightning in a bottle," which the filmmakers stressed was key to good comedy. Judging by the trailer, they seem to have pulled it off. We'll find out when "Ghostbusters" hits theaters July 15. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
